While I certainly don't have senority or Thai-fluency of either RA or OTH, I can appreciate their view point, as well as the one of many of the newbies in Thailand.

I would just point out (as a resident of less than a year), it doesn't really take a lot to interact with "real" Thais. The main thing is take an interest; learn about Thai language and culture. Even more than most in Asia, Thais seem to react positively to an earnest effort to learn about their culture.

I know some farangs that have "lived" here for much longer than I, and are virtually Thai-illiterate, not only in language, but culture. Shameful, IMHO.

I too, am very lucky in that my compensation is quite good by Thai standards, and I've been very forutnate to meet a very nice Thai lady, who is undemanding, sexy and an incredible sweetheart - "jai dii", as they say.

Also, along the way, I've met some very nice ladies in "the business", who are absolutuely not the oft-protrayed "BG-type", and really are nice girls in a difficult business. Several call me regularly to chat, and sometimes we'll meet for a drink, a game (they love Connect4) or two. Sometimes more....

To me, one of the great wonders of Thailand is the incredible diversity: it really can be pretty much what you make of it. By the same token, if you're disappointed, I honestly believe one should take a hard look at "the man in the mirror".

The downside for me is, my company is trying very hard to ship me off to the UK, the land of bland food, horrible weather and great white whales. :(

Hopeless newbie here. In BKK for a couple of weeks working on a reasonably relaxed schedule. Didn't know I was coming here until a couple of weeks beforehand, but 'cos I have a curious nature I'm trying to learn a little Thai. To that end I have what might be an unusual, possibly perverse question: are there any bars or places a guy can go which don't have music being pumped out at maximum volume where the girls are available for a little oral communication (of the face-to-face sort)? I'm not expecting high-brow intellectual conversation or anything, or low-brow boom-boom (not that I'd exclude either though).

(Off to an office environment now so I can't follow the thread until late afternoon).

Some say that we get what we deserve.
So newbies need to be very careful (in any country different to home).
Sometimes I get better than what I deserve.
My girlfriend doesn't have money, but is otherwise a lot better
than what I could get in home Country.

This little lady is named Kob. She didnt speak very good English but surely made up for it with her nice soft charm and knock out body. I tried to ask several times what ethinc mix she was as she didnt look 100% Thai to me. Big bright eyes.

SN#2. Thanks. I did a bit of preparation for this trip. A bit of all sorts of things in plan. Some escorts. Some MP's. A couple freelancers arranged via internet. You can find miss Kob on angelsbangkok.com. Talk to Ant. The propriater and she can set you up. I have found her arrangements quite interesting. This trip. I've been trying the 2 course sample set. Has anyone encountered this problem? I have been to BKK two times and on both occasions I have been denied entry to most of the bars in NP and some bars in Soi Cowboy. In some of the bars at NP I had to shell out 100 THB as entry fee. I could see that the bouncers just stuck them into their pockets far from the sights of the club management.

During my previous visit in Feb 06, I got so frustrated that I had to call the manager of Angels go-go in NP who is a Westener. He explained to me that most Thai girls are sort of racists and they do not prefer South Asians or rather non-whites (except SE Asians). BTW I am Indian. But thereafter they allowed me without any hassles for the next few days that I went to the bar. But it definitely seems that most bars have an indifferent attitude to non-whites.

Is there any solution to this problem? Is it limited to BBK only or does it exist in the whole of LOS? Any suggestions will be good.

Snoring? This is not typical of TGs, but does happen more often with Ladyboys (or so I am told). Are you she was a she?

I am going to be in Bangkok for a couple of nights and want to get a taste of what it has to offer. I have been Bangkok many years ago and therefore am not interested in the Pingpong shows of Patpong.

I was recently with a 23 year old TG that snored the nights away and part of the days as well. Needless to say that I had to 'move' her to get her to stop.

Fortunately it was not the mountain moving rumbling that one sometimes experiences.

Snoring in young people might be caused by adenoids/tonsils( I am sure that most Thais don't have the means to remove troublesome tonsils) I have no idea but she was definitely a she in every sense of the word.

You may have a problem in NEP go go bars ("members only"). But freelancers generally don't care. You may want to try Gullivers on Soi 5 and Beer Garden on Soi 7 and Angels (Nana) Disco on Soi... Nana. One more thing - don't act like a typical low class Indian - bargaining the girls down to bare minimum or not wearing anti-perspirant. Be generous (without overpaying) and you will be rewarded. No offence.
