I'll have a 5 hour layover in Managua between 10am and 3pm on a Sunday. I've been doing a lot of reading and it seems like Club Fenix is the best spot to find action during this time. I've never been to Managua before, how far is Club Fenix from the Airport? I'm planning on having the taxi driver wait for me for a return trip back to the airport. What would be a fair price to pay him? Is there any other places I should consider for Sunday morning action? Any advice would be helpful!

It is hit or miss at best. Upon entering, three big 60 inch televisions all showing hard core porn. Ladies sitting on old couches against the wall. Fairly ratty rooms positioned to the rear. They were enlarging the short stay rooms two years ago. Could be finished by now. I was charged $15. 00 from the hotel to a hotel (Crystal Rey, memory problems) across the street from the Fenix two years ago. Other than that.

Fenix is about 10 KM from the airport, about 20-30 minute ride, there should not be too much traffic on Sunday. You should expect to pay between 100 and 150 cordobas (5-7/8 dollars) each way for the taxi ride if you catch the cab outside the airport but it could be more if you catch one of the taxis inside the airport, they could charge 200 to 300 cordobas. It should not be more than $20 for the whole ride including waiting. The exchange rate is about 23. 5 right now, the best rate here in granada right now is 23. 66. Do not exchange at gas stations because they will give you the worst rate about 23.

I hope you do not plan on keeping your bags in the cab while in Fenix. I hope you are able to check in before you begin your adventure in MGA. For a new guy in town Fenix fits the bill for you. TACA and COPA both make stops here. If he is coming from Panama but due to some crazy itinary he has to wait until 5 pm for the flight to san jose or san salvador that is how it would occur. Also managua now has direct flights to Mexico city and to rome, italy once a week.

Copa only had Economy Flex fare available for the San Jose to Panama to Chicago flights, because Economy Promo & Extra fares were sold out. So it was cheaper to fly from San Jose to Managua then Managua to Panama. It wasn't just the cheaper price, I do put some value on my time. What sealed the deal for me was that Copa automatically put me in business class for 3 out of the 5 flights.

We're planning on an 8 day excursion but won't get into Managua until later in the evening. I saw that the Camino Real was located by the airport and it looks like a decent place and it has a casino. I've always worked on the assumption that where there's a casino, there's vice so I'm hoping to confirm this? Anyone have any ideas if it is chica friendly or can recommend somewhere decent? I guess decent is a relative term. I'm comfortable spending $80-$100 or so. I'the rather pay for the convenience than get a cheaper room. I'the also like to hire a driver for a couple of days and then drive us out to Granada. Anyone got any ideas on this? Anyone you've used and trust that you could pass on contact details for? The plan is then to head out to Granada on the third day and spend 3-4 days there. I read a post that said that the Hotel Alhambra is chica friendly and it looks like a nice place so I'the just like to confirm. Is that true? Also, is there enough to do in Granada for 4 days? Is it a place we can comfortably walk around (unlike Managua) or would we still need a driver?
