Was out and about last night for a bit, wondering the old haunts on lower Suk and was not surprised to find nothing taking my fancy. Very few, if any, attractive free lancers about and even Thermae was not that great.

One of the things that some of us tend to overlook is the increased opportunities for people in Thailand. You see "help wanted" signs everywhere and many bar and restaurant owners cannot find staff. Same is true in many companies here. Thailand is what we would call in the West, at full employment, or as close as you can get.

I believe this has a huge effect on the mongering scene. As salaries have increased there is far less need to go out and "rent the body" in order to make ends meet. Venues that used to pack these part-timers in are now filled with ragged out regulars and dregs. The "scene" has changed.

In 99 when I moved here, Thailand was still reeling from the Asian crisis and the haunts were full of great looking girls eager to please and make a buck. Fast forward 12 years and throw in a social order crackdown, a coup, social unrest, a good employment market, and changing demographics in the Lower Suk area and we are dealing with a far different world for the monger. Ten years ago I could not walk 10 meters without seeing a doinkable gal, now it is rare that I see even one on a nightly foray. Times are a changin' and there is nothing we can do but roll with it.

And call it the anti japanese thread. One full page and almost nothing on the BKK scene, just used and well known cliches endlessly repeated. Do you just alldo "Japanese watching" when in BKK, or do you sometimes monger? I wonder.

He is so disgusted he's giving board the silence treatment till it gets back on track.
