Was chatting to one lady in Pattaya on last trip and she mentioned she went back to one room with a south Asian punter and there 6 guys in the room, all tongues with salivating and smiles abounding. This was a habit among the untouchable Hi-so young Cambodian men in Phnom Penh a few years ago. Not every hooker wants to be pounded into hamburger by 6 guys!) It is quite likely that there was a similar fashion in Bangkok among certain untouchable Hi-so types at some stage too.

It's been a couple of years since my last trip to Pattaya, but my next visit is coming up this summer. In the past I've always carried a wad of cash and stuck the bulk of it in the in room safe. I've never had any problems and was planning to do the same, but I'm always nervous as hell carrying too much cash at once. I would hate to get robbed by a hotel worker (yeah, I know that doesn't happen much) and end up having to beg on the street for beer and barfine money. Seriously, I was wondering if you carry a big wad of cash only or do you spilt between cash, traveler's checks (I think banks still have those), and a debit card? The last time I was there, I think traveler's checks seemed easy enough to cash at the money exchange booths but have a small fee for each check (maybe 150 baht) and the same for debit card withdraws plus whatever your own bank charges (maybe 1%). Suggestions or tips?

Suggestions or tips?[/QUOTE]At some ATM's you can withdraw 30000 a day. That is almost 1000 american. Can't imagine you need more than that. I also have an auxillary lock for my room safe and keep my debit card hidden away somewhere else, like taped to the back or under something. That way I don't lose my cash and card at the same time if something happens. Never really carried Travelers Checks.

If I was going to do it differently I would do ATM withdrawals, and use a bank or brokerage account which reimburses all ATM related fees.

I opened up a Charles Schwab Checking Account. It is free and has no minimum amount requirement. It also pays interest on the balance. Schwab also required that I open up a Schwab Brokerage account at the same time, but the brokerage account has no minimum amount to maintain and pays interest on the balance as well. So I put a $100 into my brokerage account just for the hell of it and Schwab issued me their Visa Debit card attached to my new checking account. Subsequently the Debit card reimbursed me for ALL my ATM withdrawal fees at the end of each month plus I had the luxury of funding or replenishing the checking account (my Debit Card) any time I wanted with links I set up to my every day brick and mortar financial institution. The maximum ATM withdrawal per day is $1000.

So I traveled around SE Asia for 2 months using my Schwab ATM Debit Card everywhere. I also took along $1500 cash for back up which I never needed. This new system is definitely an improvement over the old way of doing things ie carrying 100% cash and IT IS FREE. I won't travel the old way with "a wad of cash" ever again. Cash is now just for backup.

I used to use strictly ATMs but the exchange fees at both ends are ridiculous. Then I started carrying a lot of cash, but never liked it. (In the early days in Myanmar and Cambodia you had no choice). The small penalty in the exchange rate more than made up for the transaction fees. Now I'll do the Schwab thing, thanks to your advice, and stop asking the bank for crisp, new, $100 bills.

Was in Pattaya last week. The number of FLs along beach road was so so around 9 pm on Friday night but quality was nothing to talk about. However around 2 AM there were less than 15 FLs! I think there was police action. Also there were hardly any WGs on WS. Saw several FLs and LBs sitting in police van around 1 AM at WS. Looks like LE is restricting the scene quite a bit. The tourist numbers were very low and there were hardly any to be seen around 2 AM.

At Breadman please don't assume things. The fact is the girl is 25 years old and though I am 40, I look much younger and fit (some senior members on this forum who have personally met me can attest to that). Also age difference of 5-10 years between younger girl and older man is common and not the other way around. Anyway an 80 year old lady would struggle to do day to day activities and can not even think of sex. I would appreciate if you can provide helpful and sensible reply to future posts.

With so many posts on the racism against indians, I feel I need to share something with all my buddies here!! Well, its true that a lot of Go Go's don't allow indians. Maybe some so called brothers of ours have sipped a beer all night or given a non consensual gang bang to hooker here or there. But its really wrong to stereotype all the indians. You can't see the world all the time in only one light!! Now to let everyone know the other side of indians and other side of indians in pattaya. For those of you who have or will visit Mumbai (India) some time, Please do go to Dance bars and see. It is very common to see many, I say again many, indian men blowing a minimum of 250000 baht in a couple of hours. Also, the highest figure blown by an indian is close to a million US Dollars. So, its not that all indians are the same or unwilling to spend. In fact, a girl from baccara told me that she was tipped 20000 baht by indian. That was apparently her highest tip ever.

When I was in pattaya last time, in Nov 14. I was denied entry to sensations. I had bottle of Chivas Regal, in hand. I just handed it over to the security saying no to me, and I was in!! Did Barfine a girl, took her to the room but again, she was paid more than committed. She was more than happy!! This time when I was there, I don't know if all indias are allowed, but I and my friends were not stopped. There was a fellow indian who was blowing 1000 baht notes!! Mind It!! 1000 baht notes and the girls were all screaming -- AHHHHH! And catching those up! In Fact, I called a girl over for a lady drink who said after he stops blowing, she would come.
