experience
Whilst I read this forum regularly and have been to Thailand 5 times, I hardly consider myself an expert. As far as being ripped off I have found that the level of drunkeness assists in determaining wether a girl will rip you off or not.
Don't get me wrong I am not saying all girls are like this but if their is a chance that you may not remember those who are thinking this way will act.
I have had many experiences of being looked after even after a few too many beers. Unfortunately I have also had a few bad experiences.
I have had a wallet taken (with cash in it), mobile taken, camera taken and my all time favourite Tag Heuer watch taken. Fortunately the watch was a fake genuine orginal article bought in Bali, but it had huge sentimental value.
Really it comes down to being sensible, lock your valuables away, put your cards away, don't show too much cash, take what you need for the night.
Just my thoughts.

My only addition to this is that-
Isn't this why people are warned not to take freelancers from the streets, girls without ids, and unidentifiable girls from discos, etc. which can't be verified?
I was amazed on a recent trip to Pattaya that in one of the discos, some of my friends were getting close with a few very dodgy looking girls, and then wondering why I didn't want to take part and take one back to my place-- no thanks, I'd rather take one with a fixed work place address, or someone at least that can be tracked down if anything was to occur later.
Most hotels also require that reception take down the girl's id card details, surely?
It happens sometimes, which is why it's good to send them home before going to sleep. There have been reports of some of the girls drugging their victims and then cleaning them out. I believe there was in death in Pattaya a few years ago connected to this scam. I have heard of such problems mostly connected to Patpong.
It's the Alcohol Stupid
I know Halloween is around the corner but the night was so young and here are four idiots in a fist fight (three on one) at the top of the stairs in Nana Plaza by Rainbow #3. One of them actually rolled from the top of the stairs half way down (he was so drunk) albeit after having blocked a fist with his face which assisted him with his travel down the stairs.
What is the matter with these people acting like they are real life ISG members coming to life from the fight clubs?

Were they Brits, by any chance?

ISG members?
Run Mann, by and large, I'd like to think that real life ISG members are much more sophisticated than the louts you describe. Those fighting fools you observed probably can't read, it was a bloody miracle they managed to know how to buy a plane ticket to BKK, and... most likely, they would not know which end of a computer they would use to access ISG.

Sadly enough I did detect two British accents the other idiot was too busy crying and sluring his words and I didn't hear enough of the last one to tell. I've learn from experience when these things start and everyone is running towards them to go away from it, nothing like being hit with a stray blow or maybe something worse.

MM,
I agree! My reference was more sarcatic humor and not intended to offend. If I took a shot it was against me too, after all I was in one of those fight clubs a while ago. I'd like to think that if those pugilists weren't drinking they would not have been engaged in that stuff.

the yob factor
I don't have a vendetta against Brits, per se, as it is my heritage, if not my birthplace, as well (so, Terry Terrier don't flame me). But, increasingly, there are more and more of these types coming here for a [CodeWord140]-up and a bash-up. There was some altercation involving some Brits on Friday night at the soi 23 end of Cowboy as I was walking home around midnight. As I mentioned in another thread, I've witnessed at least one fight if not more involving yobs from England every time I've been to Pattaya in the last couple of years.
Even sober, these guys have violent tendencies. I was having a leg massage at one of those hair salons near soi 4 and a load of them came in for haircuts and what-have-you and were really upsetting the girls by their loud, rude behaviour, not to mention that they were grabbing the girls. The boss of the salon yelled at them "sao wow, sao wow" which is Isaan dialect for 'shut up'. They shouted, "what the fuck does that mean?" And me being me, said, "She told you to shut up!" So, needless-to-say, he stood up and came over to me in a rather threatening manner. He probably would have bashed me one except that at that moment a load of Thai motorcycle drivers appeared out of nowhere (I guess one of the girls fetched them), and one them shouted at these guys, "You leave, now!" If drunk, I'm sure these guys would have tried it on with the Thai guys. But, they were at least smart enough to realize that they would get the shit kicked out of them, if they didn't leave.
Sadly, this is becoming all to common these days.

Thanks for the feedback regarding ladies who may or may not try to scam you in the night, I will bear this in mind next time I am in Thailand.
Regards.

Somewhat off topic but I thought this was a hilarious opening line by one of the more respected and senior resident of the LOS threads....even OTH now has to be careful of what he posts for fear of a potential Terry Terrier's flame...
Wonder how Coma Boy would react if he was still on the Board?
So that are the basic precautions I do with my valuables, but there is another one important: Risk assessment. It can be expected that the rock bottom cheep charley mongers are in higher danger in a cheep hotel then the ‘normal’ mongers who look more for quality.
.
At the end everybody has to level his own risk, but for me I consider my risk low with the simple precautions.
Regards
Brain666
Only input on this is that cheap charlies are not at all bigger or less risk because gals can determine right off how much a guys carrying just by their surrounding. So entering a cheap hotel vs an expensive hotel-- the FL (quality or not have nothing to do with it as never tell a book just by the cover) may not roll on cheap charlie cause not worth it but may do so if shes suddenly at the Marriott.
Yes, common sense goes a long way anywhere and not just in LOS.
Remember, hide and lock up everything regardless shes from go-go, bar or FL and only leave out what you could afford to lose.
But from all my experiences, I still believe its an exception and not the norm.--IMO

Lost Wallet in BKK!
Okay guys, this was my sixth trip to BKK but first field report. My arrival was half hour early at 11pm on UAL. I was excited to arrive early and was hoping to pick up a girl at one of the gogo's at Nana plaza before they closed at 2am. Said goodbye to Don Muang airport since it was closing later that month. Not a big fan of gogo's but all the MP's are closed at midnight. Got to the Grottino a little after midnight and one of my buddies that was staying at Majestic Suites was there to meet me. As soon as I said hi to my buddy, I realized I had left my wallet in the taxi and the taxi was gone!!
I was pretty bummed out but my buddy but I was trying to make the best of it. Asked my buddy to loan me five hundred dollars and go from there. Called one of my other buddies who lives in BKK and told him what happened. He reminded me of how one of our friends had left a bunch of camera equipment in a taxi and got it back because he had his receipt from the taxi booth stating which cab he used. Well, I had no such luck but my friend called and got the airport taxi stand phone number for me. I called and they asked for a taxi description but I didn't even remember what color the taxi was because I was focused on getting laid. They gave me a couple of other numbers to call and actually the operator was able to track my taxi down because no other taxi went to Soi 19 regardless of company. The taxi driver was very honest and turned in the wallet with six hundred dollars in it. It took two hours but the driver finally came back with everything intact. I gave him two hundred baht to give to the operator and a four thousand baht tip for returning my wallet. I joked he could have kept it but he said that is not in his nature and he said I gave him a two hundred baht tip on my initial ride. It actually wasn't a two hundred baht tip because he paid for the tolls while I was on the phone and didn't ask for it when he dropped me off. I like to reward good service and I guess I got lucky and karma with it this time.
Thanked the driver again profusely and me and my buddy were on our way. He already had a foursome from some girls at thermae earlier in the evening but was anxious to go. Yes, he had a four way! I asked how he handled this and he said one was riding him while another sitting on his face. He said he was fingering the third girl so she didn't feel left out. Since everything was closed, we went to Nana parking lot. I found a girl named Nung who had nice enhanced tits and nice legs. What more can one want at 3am in the morning. Asked for LT and she asked for 2500 and I said 2K. She gave a good BBBJ and was decent in the sack. However the next morning, she didn't want to have sex and complained she was tired. I just gave her the 2k and booted her on her way without a fuss. I know I should have given her 1500 baht but I didn't care since I got my wallet back. I knew this was going to be a full trip because I had an agenda of things I wanted to do but haven't done yet. More on the rest of my trip later but I am so thankful for that taxi driver and hope he is doing well.

Lek and Preeya
I enjoyed the company of these nice ladies.... Lek's about 28 or so, Preeya is 24. Lek is a little gal with a nice body that shows a bit of age. Preeya is a larger gal with D boobs. She's fairly agressive sexually.
I really enjoyed the company of these ladies after a tour on Gilligans Island.

Little Lek
I wanted to share this little lady.. She's 24 about 5' tall, petite. I met her for dinner. She was wearing a very nice white dress that showed off her figure. We had a very nice dinner with lively conversation. She's only been in the business for a few months.
Unfortunately, I had to get up early to catch a flight. I'll be back for more.
