Back from two weeks in JKT
Venue: Maybar (Blok M). I proposed 500 thousand, she replied "short time". For TLN she wanted -- and got -- 700 thousand. I'm usually horny between 6 and 8 am. Since you don't find any girl in JKT at those hours there's nothing but to nail one on the evening and keep her till day-break. On another occasion I adressed a good-looking girl on my way out of Maybar to the tune of "do you want to go back to the hotel with me, 500 thousand OK?". Again, "short time!" was the girl's reply. I mumbled something to the effect that I needed sleep before getting into action and she should stay with me until 8. My expectation that she would come in with a reasonable counter-offer or accept my 500 thousand was in vain. She kept smiling but didn't come forward. I went home empy-handed and I hope she did as well. I know some have written here that I should take the girl with me and give her 500 thousand -- or whatever I'm willing to afford -- the next morning rather than negotiate. But in my monger's life I never, ever took a girl to my room without a price having been agreed upon, I'm too old to change my ways now.
Change of venue: Hayam Wuruk, around 2 o'clock a.m., crusing in a silver bird towards downtown (towards "Jakarta Pusat", ie away from Stadium/Mangga Bessar). Between 15 and 20 girls were arrayed there. They stood beside their motocycle-riding pimps, the latter ready to take off with their hoe at the slightest hint of a police patrol. When I lowered the cab-windown the asking price for TLN was one million, up-front! The short-time (defined as a 2-hour span!) was priced at 500 thousand. I don't do those street-girls any more, the condition to pay up-front is especially unacceptable. Getting paid in advance, most of those girls will insist on using a condom, not because they are particularly health-conscious, but because half the time the client calls it a day and the girl can leave immediately, hurrah! Note that if you're in blok M there's some street action in "Jalan Melawai Raya" after midnight. I think that's the street where both the Melawai hotels are situated. Up to eight girls were "hitch-hiking" there when I cruised along. I didn't bother to enquire about prices.
Stadium 4th floor is now a disco for either strict mongers (who get pestered by girl-touting mamasans every other minute), or local gays. The 2nd floor now houses a disco for "normal" couples.
Indonesian TV reported about the police raiding a party of teenagers of both sexes for having sex between themselves while in possession of (1) "obat keras" and (2) "alat kontrasepsi". The former means "potenty pills", which can only be Viagra, the latter stands for "means of contraception" in other words condoms. No wonder condoms are not popular in Indonesia if it is illegal for young people to have them. The police was seen actually handcuffing the youth and carrying them away.
BATS is not doing too well, not enough customers. I didn't do any BATS girl this time, they price themselves too high and can be had at a discount later in the night at Blok M or elsewhere. But I hope BATS will keep alive. It has good pizzas and with ear-plugs to keep off the noxious music it's a nice place to relax with sexy girls in one's field of view.
Melawai 6th floor is definitely going down. I suspect the few doable girls that remain only come so that they can keep in touch with their regular customers.
Each new shopping mall being built drives an existing one into bankrupcy. Plaza Senayan, not so long ago the most select of all, is now scrambling to revamp itself to withstand competition. This shopping mall frenzy may be to our advantage: even if there were a general crack-down on night-life in JKT, the countless shopping malls would provide an endless reservoir of hunting opportunities. In fact, making contact with the other sex may be the real purpose of shopping malls, at least in JKT.
Difference between supplemental income and prostitution ....
Sorry guys. I have been remiss in posting experiences and observations over the last several years. I guess I now fit into B69's definition of a "lurker".
Anyway, I was in Jakarta this past November and had a interesting conversation with a free lancer at one of the five star venues. Discussion went on to the difference between a girl that occasionally free lances and a prostitute. According to her, the difference is that a prostitute will always pre-negotiate a price before accepting and leaving with her "john". Whereas the occasional free lancer follows her boyfriend of the evening if she likes him and is hoping to receive some "gift" from him in the morning. If the gift is satisfactory, then she may want to exchange phone numbers with him in order to keep seeing him. If the gift is not satisfactory then she simply chalks it up to one of "life's lessons".
I think this is an Indonesian solution to the prostitution conundrum. I am not a prostitute because I don't ask for money. However, I do expect to have some compensation is a nicely Indonesian way of avoiding the self recrimination of prostitution.
As for me, I am keeping my hand in for the occasional mongering night. But over the last couple of years, I have been cultivating and finely harvesting a stable of girls that are not necessarily "in the business". So I tend to use this forum as a reference on what is happening around town.
Take care. I sign off now, yah ?
