The taxi driver was very honest and turned in the wallet with six hundred dollars in it. It took two hours but the driver finally came back with everything intact. I gave him two hundred baht to give to the operator and a four thousand baht tip for returning my wallet. I joked he could have kept it but he said that is not in his nature and he said I gave him a two hundred baht tip on my initial ride. It actually wasn't a two hundred baht tip because he paid for the tolls while I was on the phone and didn't ask for it when he dropped me off. Great story HT. Very classy move to give the driver such a nice reward. I also found the Thai's to be a very honest lot. Many times I would over pay for very small things (ie. give them 10 baht for a 5 baht snack and walk away not realizing that I had change) and the vendor would come after me to get me my change. It would be so easy for them to pocket it...
I also remember seeing a vendor chasing a young farang lady through the market with her passport/money belt that she had left at his stall when buying some item. I also remember seeing her snatch it back without so much as a thank you. Good to give a gift in such cases so that the next guy gets the same treatment.

I hate to post without a lot of details, but this may be as much as I can provide given my other time constraints. First I'd like to comment on Horntoad's taxi experience. In Manila I also accidentally dropped/left my cell phone in a taxi. A hotel staff member translated my reward text message and we sent the message to the phone over the internet. 3 hours later, a very young couple from Quezon City showed up at my hotel, an hour's drive away from them, in the rain. I gave them the promised 4000P (about $80) and they probably earn that much in two months, so win-win overall. That phone was my lifeline to the States and all the stuff I had programmed into it.

Out and about w/ a friend who also is a resident of southern Thailand.
First stop for me is a 90-minute (3600 Baht) visit to Eden Club (Soi 11/11.5), where "Apple" and "Yoh" take care of my pent-up energy. After having been away for a while I explored out the scenery around Nana and I was happy to see that all was in order. Except Zoi Zero which just a pile of ruble now. (It always was actually). Anyway, they have opened up a very similar venue with pool tables and girlie bars on the opposite side of the road.
Checked out Eden where I can recommend Kook from the left side which I have been with before. She really deep throaths and is very much in to rough anal sex. Police are searching for two service girls who drugged and robbed two Indian tourists, and are following up on copies of ID cards left with the reception desk of the hotel in which the tourists were staying.
The incident was reported to police at 12:30 a.m. on October 22, and police went immediately with Sawang Boriboon Foundation officers to the scene on the second floor of the hotel on Pratamnak Road.
There they found two very groggy Indian tourists, Shiva Rudrappa Muthappa Chellvappa, 47, and Govindasmy Nald G. Suresh, 39, lying on the bed. The officers gave them first aid before transferring them to Banglamung Hospital. The room had been ransacked and had not one object of value remained. There was one used condom on the floor, and two bottles of Chang beer and Tiger beer on the table.
Police questioned Mrs Samniang Maneechan, 35, the head room maid of the hotel, and she stated that the two Indians had been paying for the room since October 19. They normally went out at noon, but on the date of the theft they didn’t. She thought it unusual and she therefore opened the room with the service key and found the two men. She then alerted the police.
After treatment Muthappa and Suresh said they had hired two Thai women approximately 25-30 years of age from Walking Street for 500 baht each for sex. In the room they drank beer but then couldn’t remember anything else until they had been transferred to the hospital. Later they said that the property inside their luggage was gone, including one gold necklace, three gold rings, one mobile phone, a digital camera, 8,000 baht, and 5,200 US dollars.
The officers followed up with the hotel and discovered that the hotel employees had made copies of the two women’s ID cards before allowing them to go with the Indians into the room. They have been named as Ms Nuanwan Khunachak, 30, of a Bangkok address, and Ms Chicha Kongsida, 21, from Sakon Nakhon. Police are now on their trail.

So be careful when you drink with strangers and watch your drink all the time. And no, it's not just Indians but all mongerers/tourists (farangs or otherwise) are equal targets.
Remember:
1. Don't flaunt your wealth by showing jewlery and fine watches.
2. Lock up all your valuables in the safe before you get out of the rooms. Most hotels have safes available.

Yoe only have two choices in my view:
- wait until later morning and catch the first girls in Beergarden Soi 7. ... but they just came back from another punter, so not everybodies taste (at least not mine)
- go to Patpong2 to Star of Light. Opening at 10am. It is tough the first time if you never went to a blow job bar, but if you dare to try you will never regret with those girls. They have take away to ST hotel as well.
