Yes, the hotel has a few non-smoking rooms. These are usually over booked so only they can tell about availability. WiFi may be slow there.

Already alluded to some of the issues with this place in my main report.
Positive. Location and price. No joiner fee
Negatives. Rooms very basic and bathroom horrible. Also had awful balcony view of waste ground with loud motorbikes even cockerels!
Breakfast virtually inedible. They take it in turns to bits of the hot food go cold.
But right at the end they tried to claim I'd had a beer from the fridge claimed the bottle was in the bin (shouldn't they know what was in the fridge but there never was a list) went through this charade of going back up to the room then came back to say they had seen offending item (which of course was not there. Why would I drink alone in the room when there is so much outside?)
So they retained 60baht from my deposit. Now I know why they take 500THB off you in the first place.
I know it's only 60 and I waste so much more everytime I go out but it seemed to suggest a corrupt attitude in the hotel that is dangerous. 60 baht beer becomes 1000 baht "you damaged the bed" etc. So just be careful before you book Baywalk Residence.
On recent visits I'm finding it difficult to discover any place tolerable for less than 700-800 baht per night. Pattaya is becoming very nearly unaffordable like Bangkok. I've long given up on 350/night, but I thought 500 was still doable.
By tolerable I mean air, hot water, and cable that all work well, a room that's very quiet during the day, and an elevator.
I will soon be travelling to Pattaya for the first time and I plan to focus on freelancers. I understand that the freelancers can be found along Beach Road. However, Beach Road is a pretty long street and ideally I would like to be able to walk back to my hotel after finding the girl for the night. Referring to the street marked on this map

Can somebody point out where most of the freelancers are to be found? Then I can used agoda.com or hotels.com to find a hotel nearby.

You should take a look at Jomtien Beach Road ... I see lots of rooms advertized for 450 baht with AC, hot water, cable, and quiet during the day. It's a nice area at the beach and only a short baht bus ride to your old haunts.
The 'action' is starting to move out this way.

You'll find FL's all along Beach Road from Soi 2 to Walking Street, but they are more concentrated between Soi 8 and Soi 13, especially across from Royal Garden Plaza.
Don't forget the FL's on Walking Street too.
My first time in Pattaya, I stayed at the Mercure for 3 nights on two separate stints.
I took their internet deal for a regular room at 1800 baht, and upon my arrival both times I got a free upgrade.
Both the room and the bathroom were not the biggest, but very clean and comfortable.
It's a big hotel with plenty of customers, so it can get a bit noisy after 9am.
- 5 minutes walk to soi Diana / LK Metro,
- 7 minutes walk to Walking St., and the hotel offers a free baht-bus back and forth.
The hotel is girlfriendly and doesn't charge a guest fee as long as you book a double and check in as a single.
The girl has to leave her ID at the reception, which I think is a great security measure, but may represent a problem for those of you who don't like to parade their latest "conquest". As far as I could tell there is no back entrance.
The staff is average Thai friendly, and a couple of the young receptionists were cute and almost flirty: one even complimented me for one of my phisical features in front of various other customers. I am quite sure that, if so inclined, I could have had her in exchange for dinner and drinks, maybe not even that. I was of course well dressed, sober and polite, which can't be said for the majority of our Pattaya brothers.

I'm looking for a economical room suitable for my wingman and I to share with joiners. We will have scooters so location is not critical. How about Nova Park? I see they have 2 bedroom apts. I don't care about separate rooms as much as 2 queen beds. Last time we only had twin beds. I know that ought to be enough, but age demands that I relax occasionally. Any advice is appreciated.

Does anyone have any views on the Walking Street Guest House? I've been looking for something cheap near all the action (I'd rather be spending my money getting laid than on fancy hotel rooms, although obviously the place needs to be reasonably clean) and it seems to fit what I'm looking for. 590 baht per night and right on Walking Street.
My 'too good to be true' alarm bells are sounding though and I've not been to Thailand before so just seeing what the more experienced think of it.

Some areas along Walking street have lots of ladyboys. Make sure they don't hang around there or you WILL get harrassed. There may be a ladyboy bar downstairs? Another member needs to chime in because I can't remember that area. That and making sure it's quiet and that they don't charge for joiners are all I care about.

Can recommend Soi 2 Inn, newly opened Hotel (serviced appartements). Price is negotiable, for al longer stay about 1.000 B. Rooms are spacious and you can even have a look at the sea from 6 or 7 floor. No problem bringing two ladies.

There is constant noise either from construction or music from the bars! Oh and they charge joiner fee now! There are security guards standing by elevators. The rooms are 35 years old. That's the age of the hotel.
Spending a week in Pattaya and looking for a reasonable hotel with bath tub that is close to the action, but not too noisy.
Currently veering towards the Residence Garden in Jomtiem, but interested in the views/experiences of others. Stayed at the LK Renaissance last time. Crap breakfast, but otherwise OK. The reduction in the £ value makes me look elsewhere - prepared to pay up to 2k baht per night.
