I took a day off today. Spending some time in the lower Sukhumvit area.
Soi 33 is dying, no customers at all. We had the worst March ever. And I doubt that the road will recover.
Spent some time at Bangkok Beat Soi 7/1 (where the Eden Club is).10:30 pm. 11:30 pm, the selection of girls was a catastrophe (compared to a year ago, when I was there last time). The place is a gay mens club now.
Midnight: Climax. Still ok, though empty. Some lookers there. But not many. And - lots of young men competing with me handsome young man with a large wallet. Fuck them! Damned, if the young men cannot get laid any more without coming to Thailand - how will all this end up?
The nightlife scene in Bangkok is changing. I have no idea what is going on. But what I saw today is worrisome. I would not call this a "selection" at all.
Last week I visited Patpong, first time in 18 months. Forget it! Gogo Bars empty. Lot's of ladyboys! No fun at all.
Yikes! I hope the yellow shirts will close the airport again, for the next 2 years or so.

In regard to Stickman's report which he published on April 1 (April Fools Day in most Farang based countries even Iran) , when I went to cross check the story, I couldn't find any original sources, nor does Stickman provide any links. I could only find a reference to certain Governors in Thailand calling for enforecement of an old exixting rule on hotels tracking foreign guests, but this to help the with terrorist issues.
1. The story if true in practical terms would probably take down a large portion of the commerical sex trade in Thailand, along with much of the economy. Among other things, every married visitor doing ST or LT to a hotel (but not ST in a ST bar I would guess) with a with a bar girl would end up with a permanent record containing precise info of every single bar girl he has been with, along with time and location. Supposedly not at a central data base but just on his permanent immigration card? LOL You believe Thailand will do that? The article talks about Thais concerned about Farangs parading WG's around, but the regulations do nothing to address any such displays. Thais of course exempted from all this. LOL.
2. It appears to exempt massage parlours, escort services, and and many other venues.
3. Those renting apartments or having long term stay arrangements would be exempt.
4. Not only no impact on free lancers, it would encourage even more workers to become free lancers, probably adding to the HIV issue.
5. The regulation does nothing to fix the central crisis in regard to HIV in Thailand, the extraordinary high rates of HIV in the gay community. Stats currently show one third of all gays in Bangkok show up as HIV positive, an incredibly high number, and it would seem they would stop Lady Boys from engaging in prostitution as that is where the major problem is, yet the regulation does nothing.
6. As far as Thais supposedly disgusted with Farangs behavior, what about the 2nd wives issue, which is known to be prevalent in Thailand. That's also a moral issue.
7. For many ex Pats living in Thailand would be a windfall as WG prices would drop, and as non hotel users, they would be exempt. Not sure if the government would want to encourage more Sex Pat types
What's with the sudden rash of posts from this Giotto character. Is there anything useful at all in them, as I cannot take anything he says seriously. Is he gearing up for the next flood season? Is he trying to upstage BJ man for advertising? Is soi 33 really dead? Does one have to be a guest at his lodge to get helpful advise? C'man, Gboy, tell us what you found in low sukh, the FL & SW's there, with pics of course, and especially the NPL & hotel. And don't forget Liquid disco. LOL.
Hahahahahaha! We all know good girls who go to hotels are prostitutes.
Harold, Actually all girls who f*ck are prostitutes.
Rehashing what many have said before, it's just that the wives and girlfriends cost a lot more. Mrs. G for instance -- it's refreshing that there's at least one woman in this world that recognizes that and has even gone so far as to get her Foreign Service Worker's Card.
Who are you? The Dr BJ apologist? Either that or he has been servicing you.
No, I've never met the guy, never been to his bar and not planning to go, I don't do BJ bars. I just don't like negative attitudes and I think your criticism is unwarranted. Brighten up and post something useful. So far Dr. BJ beats you easily in the useful posts category.

Giotto
I would say the scene will never recover its former glory. Development has caught up with BKK and the "scene," especially Sukhumvit. Reasons? Lots of 'them. Changing demographics for one. Lower Sukhumvit is a disaster. No longer the domain of Western tourists, the place is now populated with Middle Easterners, Africans, and Indians, not the working girls favorites for sure and I believe it keeps many of them out of the area. The street market till midnight and the bars littering the street at night see filth at a new level. BG Soi 7 is abysmal. Most of the ladies working there could be grandmothers and many have the stones to ask for 1. 5k. Thermae is indeed the playground for the Japanese now, and to tell you the truth there are some cuties there but nowhere near what was seen even a year ago.
Working girls also are well aware of their value now. Hotties work the late night discos, Hotels, G Clubs, and with the atmospheric rise in salaries among Thai workers (educated that is) , there are fewer "part timers." GoGo girls that are attractive work in a few select bars where they command big money, leaving most GoGos devoid of talent. So the "market" is in fact killing the "market." There seem to be way more punters than there are great looking girls these days, a trend I am afraid will continue.
Prices are another factor. BKK is not longer a cheap playground, and before all of you start your "I'm rich" ranting please just look at the economics. Dinner and drinks with the boys, drinks, BF, and ST with a GoGo girl used to run around 3k baht or 75 USD "back in the day." I would say you would be hard pressed to do that for double these days. Yes, that does effect business and does effect the number of guys that come here from Western countries. I see fewer and fewer of the regulars here.
Me, I rarely go out to the "bars" these days. Prices aside, it is just not really "fun" anymore. There are other things that I love about this city and country, food, the up and coming Thai Football league, hanging with friends and drinking a good beer (for the same price as a local brew in Cowboy) , and hitting the oilies in the afternoon when the mood stirs within me.
Things change. BKK is the most dynamic place I have ever lived. It will continue to evolve and the "scene" as we know it will change along with it, and I would think not to most of our likings, but hey, every day there is some newbie who is getting his first piece of bought Thai tail and thinks he has found heaven and for awhile he will sit on his cloud while we are left with our memories of the "good ole days" and to try and squeeze every bit of enjoyment out of the place while we still can. I'm staying.
Peace!
Arrived in BKK at 5am this morning and checked in at hotel two hours later. I do recommend the VIP service at:
http://www.limousine.in.th/fast-track-immigration.html.
Really smooth sailing through immigration out to the waiting limo. At 3600 BHT roundtrip it is a steal when you have been flying all night.
After a little nap and shopping of essentials went for first goal: Annies Soapy Massage which is just around the corner from hotel. Good selection of girls at 2PM and I choose nr 69. She's a tiny girl with a nice bubble butt and proceedings followed what I assume is the standard schedule. Soapy massage with the little tiny thing sliding around both front and back then into the tub for a thorough scrub. Then followed a very nice BBBJ in the tub until CIM.
Wash off and onto the bed for an oil massage that proceeded into an oily HJ. Decided to not cum cause I wanted to save it for later but she had a lovely tight pussy (trimmed but not shaved, just the way I like it). Very nice to eat from behind.
Basic english with loads of accent so hard to understand but a nice personality I got along fine with and a trooper who BJ to completion although her small mouth was stretching rather wide. I called it quits after 1. 30 hrs and went to get a beer at a bar across NANA. Seems to be a good selection of young SWs in the afternoon already. Some SG types if you're into that. Now naptime and NANA later, an establishment I conveniently can look down at from my room. Good times in LOS,
Cal
I respect you and what you pay. But please stop implying stunners will go with you for 1, 000. For 1000 you'll be lucky to get below avg. Looker!
Huh? Maybe re-read my post, I said quite the opposite: "I believe ST will be a fair bit more than 1K (BF will eat most of that up) , and you will generally have to hit it off or be fairly generous with LDs (and offered fee) to make it happen." 1K will only cover the BF and lady drinks for most 'stunners', especially in Bangkok, and then you will pay a pretty penny for the lady as well.
All girls I consider stunners (and even a few that were not) cost me 2000K. 3000K LT, and that is after BF, LDs and a fair amount of shmoozing.
Wolf Hound,
With all due respect: Who are you (if I am allowed to ask )?
I know Dr. BJ, he is a nice guy (strange nationality though). What beef do you have with him?
Look, write some reports about the places you like. And if you don't like the Salon. Ok! Of course. Dr. BJ runs his business here in Bangkok, but WE ALL KNOW THAT. HE TOLD US FROM THE BEGINNING.
So what?
Giotto.
Is soi 33 really dead? Does one have to be a guest at his lodge to get helpful advise?
Soi 33 is not seeing much action otehr than the ladies trying to pull in the few men passing by.
This is what I have witnesssed in a few nights in the recent 3 weeks.
Livingstone Lodge sees a new bunch of girls in the Sports Bar, but language is at a challenge in communicating with some of them due to english skills. Seems a refreshening took place in the last weeks.
Probably the team is not yet sorted as one I picked up one night was not there anymore less than a week later, and was not missing as BF'd.

Peace!
Thailand has basically zero unemployment now, many places cannot get workers for real jobs, let alone being a slapper. This leads to increasing wages and prices and a big drop in the supply of girls.
The girls are getting more educated, they know its easy to rip farangs off via the internet, they know they can get more money for less bang by going to nighclubs, hotel clubs, G-clubs. And so this leads to a drop in girls servicing tourists.
The girls themselves are complaining over a lack of farang tourists and this is leading to many changing their profession or the way they go about it.
I enjoy BKK greatly, but I am not a tourist and have the luxury of time, which allows me to play the game how I want to play it.
The girls too are complaining that the scene is changing. They are not happy as well. But change it will. Even if all parties are not happy about it. Things always change.
