Gringos have edge with some people
White is right in the DR. Especially with the poor and rich in the DR. The light Dominicans generally have more money and better jobs. Poor Dominicans associate white with money. A Gringo will be welcomed in most homes in the DR like the coming of Christ. It is a DR dream to marry a gringo and live the good life. Non of this means they are not sincere. They just view you and other foreigners as golden gooses. I have many non pro amigas who look forward to my visits because they can share some of the good life. In truth you can have an awesome time with them. I try to keep it real because I do not want to hurt their feelings. Most times they will accept the relationship on your terms because it better then having nothing. I thought the videos were great. Nothing to worry about. Home movies of sweethearts is nothing to be concerned with.
Not counting the girl in the vids and most of the pics who's mom was trying to pimp her out, I have met two different families that introduced me to their daughter / niece on this trip. One was a 23 year old medical student from Santiago, and the other girl was 19 and visiting from La Vega. Neither of these girls were putas and both wanted to hook up with me with the family's approval. I met both on Playa Sosua BTW. So I don't think all non-working girls are afraid to be seen with a gringo. In fact, I think a lot might even be proud to meet a good looking Westerner. A lot of them think we are wealthy just from being a Westerner.
Now, if there is an obvious age difference and the guy doesn't take very good care of yourself, then yes, just like in the states, any young and beautiful girl will know that others are thinking the obvious, that she is with the guy for money.
I wish I could have waited.
I brought my direct flight roundtrip NYC-JFK to POP last month and paid around $483.00 including taxes. I will be hanging out in DR between POP and Sosua for about a month. Happy Travels. Peace always. Senor Aqua Man.
I had a feeling I was going to hear a report like yours. When I booked, I was already in Sosua on my laptop back in the end of May. Next time I will wait, and also keep watching the fares so I can book at the lowest price. And fly into POP.
First is not always the best. But second will allow your pockets to rest.
