Is it possible to travel by bus /buses from Jaco to Golfito? How about hitch-hiking? Or offering truck drivers some cash for a ride?I am interested in seeing property near Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, & Ballena. I am on my way to Playa Zancudo.

I stayed in Zancudo in August of 2001( took a bus from Coca Cola to Golfito - 6 1/2 hours) and was in Jaco this last March.I don't wish to rent a car and I am travelling alone. I don't want to waste time going from Jaco back to San Jose and then to Golfito. Want to see properties. Any suggestions? Thank you for your assistance!

But hitchhiking is not exactly safe in this day and age.

Does anyone have info or experience with Bendricks International Mens Vacation Club? Its seems like a pretty good deal that includes airfare and escort at either a San Jose hotel or beach side resort for a Costa Rica virgin and wanna be mongerer.

I have been reading the post of this thread and the san Jose thread as well, but I could not find the answer to my questions, so I decided to post them here.

I just learned that I will travel to San José in the beginning of July. This will be an organised business trip with several other people around.

This is why I will have to act with high discretion I think I can not browse the Del Rey and other spots to bring a chica back to my hotel. I will need to call somebody to come up to my hotel room without being seen with the girl. Are there any recommendable escort services that may suit my purposes?

Better to visit a spot such as the Zone Blue or Idem than bring a chica to your room. See the other section on 2004 reports a few posts down the stack.

You never know what is going to show up at your door when you deal with an escort service. The girls at the Del Rey will come to your hotel or you can visit a massage parlor or strip club and work out an arrangement with some of the girls. It all depends on what you are looking for in the "looks" department and your abilty to get away from your business associates. My buddy is a high level businessman and he did not care for the Del Rey, but did make arrangments for several women from Bar Idem and Elite strip club to visit his room. Elite is very expensive for Central American standards, but the quality is great(8's,9's). Be careful in Elite, as the girls have been instructed to push drinks. Management watches the girls closely and i heard the place is bugged throughout the club. Bar Idem is very laid back and there are rooms on the premises for extra activities. I do not know the exact prices, but i am guessing$30-$40) per hour.

Sorry, I am mindful of the various admonitions to "do your own research", but I have looked on the board and don't find a hotel thread. Anybody got a few recomendations, I would like to find the best available hotel that is guest friendly, 3 or 4 star if there is such a thing in San Jose.

I have seen the Del Ray and the Morazon mentioned, also I have heard of the President, would any of these fit my requirements?

The Presidente is a good bet - I'd say it's a 3* by U.S. Standards. But I also would strongly recommend a small boutique hotel, the Sportsman's Lodge. It's just a nice luxury home that's been converted to a small inn of around a dozen rooms (although, an extension from buying and renovating the place next door is either imminent or already in place. The rooms, common area, and especially the bar is great at Sportsman's Lodge, but what genuinely distinguishes the place is the service, and the attitude of the owner Bill, and the general manager, Ray. They are firm believers in going the extra mile for their clients.

The DelRay is simply a brothel/hotel, so I don't know how such a thing would be rated. The Morzon would be considered AT BEST, a 2* place in the U.S.

I have stayed at the Presidente every trip. They are also opening up their new jacuzzi rooms which sound great.

I always enjoy the service, the view at the rail during breakfast and the ability to get away from the "action" at the Del Ray.

I have not stayed at the Sportsman, but have meet Bill. They are supposed to be opening more rooms as well. Bill seems great and I know several who have stayed there and enjoyed it. I have also heard that it can be loud with the tv's and talking late at night. But I have no personal experience with that.

I think anyone would be happy at the Presidente. Make sure to ask for one of the newer rooms and the discounts.

To the best of my knowledge, no such thing exists. People in CR use landmarks for directions mostly.
