Major announcement about Sosua in the Gogo forum.
I started talking with the caretaker and he offered to let us on the beach with chairs and umbrellas for 300 pesos. Can't beat that and the decision was a no brainer. We were alone most of the time on the beach and they brought us food and drink. This was one of the nicest beaches I've ever been to as far as cleanliness, swimming and the beach itself. And not a tout in sight! The only negative was the heat. Even in the shade of the umbrella it was hot as hell.
Playa Alecia, at the bottom of the hill past Casa Cayena is a beautiful beach without vendors or pests.
You can rent chairs / umbrellas, otherwise it is free to enter.
There is one restaurant above the beach should you need a water / beer.

Four hundred million pesos for renovation Sosúa beach?
The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier Garcia announced that for the restructuring of the bay of the resort town Sosúa the government has made four hundred million pesos available. According to Mayor Ilana Neumann of Sosúa good agreements have been made with all current owners of the casetas (souvenir shops). When the renovation of the historic center of Puerto Plata is completed, they will start with the renovation of the beach of Sosúa. There will be constructed two shopping center where the current owners of the casetas can rent a shop at both entrances to the beach. With these changes, Sosúa should be more attractive to tourists who demand better service and more luxury.
With the cruise port in Maimóand and the renovation of the historic center of Puerto Plata, the north coast will be culturally more attractive, says the Minister of Tourism.
You can buy a phone for as little as 750 pesos including a SIM card. The number is yours for the next phone or the next time you visit. Simple. You can call the USA from your prepaid calling card. No problem.
Thanks, what's a reliable phone you suggest I buy in Sosua?
Also does anyone know if the afterhours club one is still open?
I spent last week in Sosua. I really have nothing to add that hasn't been said about the wimmin. All I'll say that it's not my type of scene.
What didn't you like about the Sosua scene?
What didn't you like about the Sosua scene?
At this stage of my life, I don't enjoy being with hard core putas. I'm also more of a social drinker which doesn't seem to fit in with the scene. I had a very nice stay in sosua, but in my own way. I suppose the reason I went to sosua was to see with my own eyes what people were talking about. None of this is meant to be judgmental and I hope it doesn't come across that way. Cheers.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. I can put up with from a few hours to 1 day of Sosua. In the words of Old Kool, these days Sosua is for sport fucking gutter puss.

Sosua isn't for everybody which is why I do it my way. In fact, most guys would be bored out of their minds if it weren't for the chicas. As for me, my idea of a vacation is to get the hell away from the day to day routine. I can be by myself for ages on end. So I do my own thing. I check out the cigar shop, pick up a couple of stogies and head to the beach and light them up. Can't do that in California as most beaches outlaw it and people look down on cigar smokers. If I want to be social I head up to Big Mama's and chill and shoot the shit with ex-pats. I go on excursions or tours. I'm in a foreign country so I explore it. I don't follow the "scene." I do what makes me happy for the time that I'm there even if it means doing absolutely nothing but lounging on the beach. Then there's the girls.
An expat friend of mine in Sosua told me a guy recently complained that $300 was missing from his safe. The Hotel is Condos Margarita across from Bologna restaurant on Alejo Martinez. This is disturbing. News because last August 2 guys I talked to thought they were missing money too. But they werent sure of the amount. But to them it appeared somebody else had been in one of the guys safe. I like the place but am leery about staying there. BTW their safes are keyed. And I dont think they are bolted or secured from moving. The unit I had I was able to pick the safe up if I wanted to.
I'm here on the ground in Sosua. I talked to a dominican aquaintance of mine who is staying at Condos Margarita. He has been there since June. I asked him if he knew about the alleged theft? He said yeah. But it turned out to be a misunderstanding on the renters part. That guy accounted for the money he originally thought was taken from his safe. So all is well at Condos Margarita. The other incident with the 2 guys I talked to back in August, those two admitted they werent sure if they were got or not. Most likely, the one guy never knew how much he had to begin with and just assumed someone had taken money out of his safe. I can relate to that. I have taken money out (not necessarily from a safe) , but did not account for what was left. Then when I decided to count what was left, it appeared to be less than what I expect.
One last thing. Not all of the safes are keyed. The unit I'm in now is electronic. My personal observation and feeling is, the staff at Condos Margarita are very honest and very respectful of every renters personal effects. Just thought I'd offer this bit of news in case anyone read my earlier report and decided not to stay there.

Been to Medellin and had a great time and I wanted to try something new. They have great lists and maps for Medellin and was wondering if there is one for Sosua. Thanks in advance.
PS tried searching and can't seem to find one.
How common is anal for the girls?
Gents,
I was wondering if there are a similar casa listing pdf or google maps address like.
PS tried searching and can't seem to find one.
There isn't one because it isn't necessary. Sosua isn't casa oriented; it is freelance oriented and is concentrated in a 3 block radius. There are no hidden casas. Everthing is out in the open and extremely obvious. The girls are very aggressive so you won't have a problem finding the "action." Most of the action is concentrated in two bars, which are on the same street: Rumba and D'Latin. 90% of the action is on that one street where these two bars are located. You can stay at one of several hotels that are walking distance to this block. You can read old reports for more info. Also, I wouldn't try to compare one country to another. If you read the reports with an open mind, everything is there with nauseating redundancy.
How common is anal for the girls?
The usual disclaimer that YMMV, but it all depends on the chica. I haven't found many that volunteer for it, but when you hit the right number ($) , most anything can be had. I've also had experiences where a chica is desperate to close the deal, and throws that in to sweeten the pot.
