Since you mentioned termas....
The GPs that don't get work as rocket scientists will propably continue working as GP.
They propably spread out in Copa, centro, VM and termas. As most of the Help girls are lazy and spoiled after having gringos as customers the majority will continue to work with gringo mongers. Brazilian mongers wouldn't accept the behaviour that many of these girls are used to.
In Copa they will propably hang out at MP, Balcony, the Prado Junior area and stroll along Av Atlantica and the quisques. Propably there are some smart guy opening a disco for mongers and GPs (maybe in the old Bingo Hall in Arpoador).
I am inclined to believe that if another venue similar to Help does not open up where these gp's can go work, then as you mentioned on your post, many of these GP's will work at termas.
My main concern would be the owners of these termas will realize that the absence of Help would create more demand from the tourist mongers, thus encouraging the termas to jack up the prices. This sucks! Cause as it is, termas prices have just gone out of hand over the last couple of years. Even to a certain extent, the low end termas as well. Let's see what develops.
Help closing and unintended consequences
Rest assured the closing of Help can make the mongering scene more expensive and could also bring more government scrutiny on the trade. The one thing Help did was make the scene more suitable/acceptable. It put the scene behind a thin veil, help to make it not so public.
Like several pointed out in prior posts, many of the GDPs don't have the discipline to work in the termas. Many will not go to VM. That could lead to more streetwalkers, more girls hanging at the bars, the restaurants, the beaches. These are highly visible, public places. Tourists will complain. There was a code of behavior in Help. Girls rarely made trouble, and fights were not a frequent occurrence. It is doubtful that code will exist outside as of Help. I can see where the government will move to crack down if the trade becomes too public, too unruly.
Prices will temporarily, and possibly permanently, increase. Less availability of product, less ease of accessibility to product means prices go up. Heck, the asking prices in Help have been ridiculous as of late. Take out from the termas will increase. They know Help is not an option, for those trying to bargain. It's simple, remove competition from the market and prices increase. Yes, some enterprising people rush to fill the void, but in this case that is not simple solution. You have a lot of independent women who are quite frankly not too discipline.
The termas will be busy. Prices will increase. They have a captive audience. Where are you going to go. They know most will pay to play. Busy termas mean crowded boites... not so good for those who like a less busy/crowded scene. It means less sitting and chatting with the girls. Again, they will be getting paid.
Though some may not use Help and even despise the club, it is an important part of the scene. You could find anything from high end termas quality to the VM. Removing it from the market is not a good thing, certainly not in the short term.
Help closing affects GP prices in Rio?
My guess what effect Help closing has to GP's prices:
* In Rio, outside of Copa, the gringo mongers makes out just a tiny part of the mongers. Centro and VM will continue without a price increase.
* In Copa there might be an increase at L'uomo and MC as these two termas have a lot of gringo customers.
* MP has always been a rip-off and will continue that way.
* Balcony GP's in general are cheaper than MP GP's. The place will propably get a lot more GP's. Might raise the standard of the GP's at Balcony, which is good. The ex Help GP's will propably try to overcharge as there always will be suckers who don't mind overpaying. I doubt there will be a drastic price increase of the old Balcony girls.
* The streetwalkers will be more. Working the streets are though. The SW's can't be fuzzy if they want business. Propably no price increase.
I see no reason to monger in Copa so I have no worries about the GP prices rising. Loosing Help as a night club is no loss at all. Rio has a great night-life outside Copa.
It's good for the lazy Help girls getting their fat asses out on the street doing some honest GP work instead of ripping of gringos.
Help closing, prices go down
Disagree with the idea that prices go up. The prices in termas, etc. Have gone up partly in step with the health of the brazilian economy. Most things in brazil have gone up quite a bit when you are going to the higher end restaurants/hotels, etc. And the termas are part of that higher end lifestyle.
But no more help will mean more girls working for escort services, more selection, more deals, etc. And if help closes, some people will stop coming to Rio looking for pay-to-play and therefore less demand. Also, without help, the girls will not all be centrally located in one "market", so, prices are more open for individuals to negotiate and I think that most of the guys on this forum know how to negotiate, so, for those in the know, prices go down.
