If you truly have principles then, there are going to be disputes. There were all these media stories about these poor government people losing their jobs (not that they give a fuck when people in the private sector lose their jobs) and after the violin playing, the economy booms. But I get that it is tough. When you cut government jobs, you get roasted horribly in the media. The biggest parasites scream the loudest.

For those of us who can do math, the debt / deficit is the biggest preventable threat to the country, and I have never seen more bullshit excuses about why this is going to be fine. If we keep up with these deficits, the USA economically is doomed. And this is what Musk knows and is most passionate about.

Thing is the pol most like Musk in this sense is Rand Paul, and when Paul ran for president, he did even worse than his father and got like 1% of the vote. The main stream media, the Dems, and the RINOs went after them like no one else. Politics is so dominated by money now that anyone who says we need to spend less does not have a chance. In fact, one thing that Trump did differently was spend like a Democrat. When there were Covid stimulus checks, he pushed for higher amounts of free money to be given away than even the Dems wanted.

When Trump went on Joe Rogan, the deficits were brought up, and Trump said that he was just getting around to fixing them and the pandemic hit. To me, that was like, "Okay, he knows this is going to be a problem. ".

And then this fight happens. Democrats are overjoyed, and the natural inclination is to pick sides. I am on team Trump or team Musk. If that happens, and it is even easier when both Trump and Musk are both slinging dirt at each other, IMO all Republicans lose.

Because this issue is so important to me, I am glad Musk stepped in and said something but I wish that he kept his comments limited to the bill and not the mud slinging. Joe Kernan on CNBC is one of the rare members of the media who is an outspoken Republicans, and he had Ron Johnson on his show and RJ was already proposing compromises.

So I am not going to take the bait on the Trump-Musk fight. If you pick a side, then we are back to the Obamas, Bidens, and Pelosi types. We need to focus on the issues and not the personalities. Trump wants a $2. 5 trillion deficit and Musk wants zero. What is a number that both sides can live with and how do we get there? Debating to get there is what Democracy is all about.
