Is this what some mongers are paying for girls in Jakarta? My god no wonder so many come to Bali expecting big payouts if the market is getting that high. Just got back from Jkt. All these while I have been lurking in BATS, Kelapa Gading and CJ's. At Kelapa Gading, Sumo prices are getting even crazier. That's not the same old story as far as I know. I don't take many girls out of Bats because I don't go there often. But I've been there 5 times in the last few months. I gave the girls each 500k in the morning. I did give one 700k about a year ago, but that was because pickings were very slim that night. Those girls I gave 500k all send me sms' quite frequently asking when they can see me again. The 700k one does as well, but the market was set too high on her so I have no desire to see her again. Any girl asking 1.5 million is nuts. That is NOT the going rate. I think if you give anything over 800k for all night, you are over paying.

I've always thought this was a crime. In my opinion, Lintas Melawai was far superior to My Bar. I never understood why the bule crowd allowed a shift to My Bar as the early morning hot spot (effectively putting Lintas Melawai out of business). I did my part visiting Lintas even after it had pretty much died, but the majority of bules in town just follow the girls wherever they go. The girls obviously set the market for night spots. I can see why the girls prefer My Bar because they can get the guys to buy them expensive drinks there. If the bules had just stuck to their guns and refused to go to My Bar, the girls would have gone back to Lintas. I have yet to meet a guy who prefers My Bar over the old Lintas Melawai. God knows it was cheaper. I never bought a girl a long island iced tea at LM - I don't think they even served them. Good memories there - that's for sure. Some of the best nights I've ever had in Jakarta ended up at LM. I can't say I've ever had a really good night at My Bar (relative to the nights at LM) - ever. It's a shame.

I hope LM renovates and changes things around a bit then re-opens. I'd love to see it replace My Bar as the early morning hot spot again.

Agree. I've paid a BATS girl 600k for full night with good service and she left the hotel in a pretty good mood around 10am. It was Dec/2007.
No problem with her, no discussion about more money or so.

Blok M has been a gangland territory since 1970s. There are at least 3 territories in Block M run by tribal gangs. If I am not mistaken Lintas Melawai, Hotel Melawai I and II, Pasar Kaget (a street of sidewalk eatery in front of the gas station), eks Aldiron Plaza, and Japanese Circuit are under a territory run by the Arek gang (East Javanese mainly from Surabaya). Other than collecting protection and parking money, I believe Lintas Melawai is a concession of the leader. The leader died and I think his successor is not paying attention to the joint. It is quite complicated. Beware if anyone of you guys thinking of taking over this joint, if I am not mistaken no one has the legal paper to support such property claim.

Talking about this LM do bring back nice memory. Also the bar that is next to it. I frequent there for a drink after work when first arrive in Jakarta, also where I learn my Bahasa Indo...lolz ....and If not mistaken, the bule that once help ran this place left to open "D" place..

As I do not stay late, only been to the disco a couple of time and it's very small thus IMHO, I still think My Bar is more happening then LM... well very expensive of course....

"Going rate" is a regularly recurring topic. I think it's true to say that 700k - 1.5 juta is the current "asking rate" and has been for a while. But for sure there is no need to pay that: a fact which is easily verified because girls who get half that still come back for more. Of course they will make a token complaint but they probably would do that even if they got 1.5 juta. So I agree with Smoothy - except on one minor point - I don't think they are "nuts" for asking given that clearly there are those who will pay it! They are the ones who are nuts.
