Go up the escalator and take a sharp right. Some of the girls will push you in a nice sort of way for lady drinks but it's no problem to refuse.

A good place that I like to sit and watch the world go by is the Golden Beer Bar at the front of Nana Hotel in Soi 4.

This is a brief update to a report I did on a visit in 2005 to the Beer Garden (formerly known as the Bier Garten) at Sukhumvit Soi 7. A lot has changed outwardly. The bar had shed its seedy tropical look thanks to a total make-over to become a comfortable bar-restaurant complex. It still functions as a hook-up point for horny male tourists and willing Thai ladies, but even on the meat-market front, there were subtle changes. Keep in mind my latest observations are based on four short visits spread over two days in early November, 2006. The earliest visit was at 2.p.m., the latest around 7 p.m. As always, YMMV.
What struck me most was the shift in the Bier Garten cast of characters. The Thai ladies were still generally a solid 5 to 6, aged 25 and upward. Some of the ladies in their mid-30’s looked, dressed and carried themselves as though they were office workers out to pick up some extra cash. The male customers were concen trated to the age-45-and-above crowd, with very few any younger. They were surprisingly presentable by LOS sex tourist standards. It was the lower end of the punter/provider spectrum that had dropped away. I didn’t see even one unshaven, morbidly obese farang, nor any 90-pound geeks with massive over-bites and flip-flops. The higher end of the TG scale had never been a statistically significant part of the BG7 population, but it seemed to have disappeared entirely as well, at least when I was there.
Among the classic BKK pick-up institutions, such as the coffee shop of the Grace Hotel in its pre-al Qaeda days or the original Thermae before it changed locations, the Bier Garten was always the one that least resembled the Star Wars catina. However, some distinctive characters, male and female, had frequented BG7 and now they had disappeared along with the old rattan furnishings.
Perhaps most surprising to me was the presence of unescorted farang females in the new Bee r Garden. I can't ever remember seeing any farang female in the old Bier Garten, but on each of my short visits in early November, I saw several. Most intriguing was a blond woman who was together with a TG. Was it a lesbian pair? A CIS hooker and her Thai comrade? Or had the Beer Garden become so civilized that even tourist females/resident expats didn't hesitate to drop in for a beer and a bit to eat? Who knows, but it sure was a departure from the old BG7.
I have zero idea about the going price at BG7. I didn't speak with any of ladies because I was already committed for the evening. Short of Miss Thailand - or at least one of her runner-ups - walking in, I wouldn't be taking anyone from BG7 .and didn't think it fair to waste the ladies time with idle chit-chat just to satisfy my curiosity.

Could not agree more. There are some very nice girls hanging around this non-classy area in addition to some average ones. I have picked up a couple of different girls who were quite classy IMHO. Its some of the Western guys who are probably the least classy here and many need to improve their attitude.
I have left the Lady Boys out of the equation altogther as they are quite colourful (and not classy) in any location.

The above statements are getting close to inconsistent.
Firstly they claim its hard to mistake a LB. Then says wasn't sure but lets assume the wasn't sure applies to a real girl.

The truth is that only the very experienced guys in Thailand are unlikely to be ever tricked. And even the experienced will have doubts at times when meeting real girls who look suspicious.
Guys unsuspectingly go off with Lady Boys on a very frequent basis. I see it happening all the time and don't believe that more than 50% of the guys know what they are getting.
Surely the numbers of guys who like LBs can't be that high?

Guys who go with knowingly go with LBs must be a bit AC/DC I assume but its certainly not for me.

Many years ago, when relatively new to Thailand, I had paid the bar fine for 2 girls (both fully dressed) already and was about to go when I suddenly realised that one was probably a LB. Voice was a bit croaky. After wouldn't show me its pussy, I quickly cancelled and took a different girl with huge soft tits which made me feel very safe.

As can be read from my experiences, LBS are very hard to tell from real girls, and from my POV they will rip you off-apart from one I had. They will lie to you until you get them in your room and then demand a BK rate of pay even if you don't want to fuck them.

I have to admit that I am still not sure about what is what, but next time I will use my recordable MP3 player to ask them if they are a girl- if there is any doubt, and confirm that I only want a girl. If they then turn out to be a man, they will get fucked off, and they can call the cops if they want, but I will have proof of their lies. Fair enough, it may be illegal in LOS, but when push comes to shove, if they want to push it, recorded evidemce is a big help.
LBs are a big problem there, and if they ever wise up in LOS and make it legal, they should make it compulsary for LBs to register and wear ID.

Evil[/QUOTE]Thanks for your report. But biergarten is not a new one. They have change only the roof for a better ventilation and some decoration and ad some large tv screen. Same as years ago the biergarten atmosphere is never the same every day. Each day is different. Some good. Some bad. Girls change also day by day some stay every day. Some look around sometime. On a Monday for example you will find many girl from a hairdresser shop coming looking around. On Sunday you may have the up country one looking for Sunday business only. And so on.

I do not agree about cheap farang. Many expat there with good job. Of course they are some cheap but in general I can confirm to you from the side or point of view of the girl they find many good farang who take care of them. I have so many example of marriage with rich farangs. Its also a reason why they looking farang in biergarten.

This all from experience. Once I was runnig the money lent business in that aera. So today biergarten is still the same. Exept if something has change the last 3 month as I am out of Thailand for the moment.

Aren't there some LB bars around? Surely you would know how to avoid those bars if you're not into LBs.

Then there are some which feature a mixture of LBs and genetic girls. The king's Castle chain is one, although most of the LBs are post-op here. So might be difficult to check the goods cursory.

I think it's a good idea to let BKK greenhorns know where LBs are likely to congregate so as to avoid such griefs later on.

I know NEP has quite a few. Casanova bar, Cascade bar, Temptations and obsessions bar are the famous one. I imagine most members here would give these establishments a wide berth.

Lumpini Park is another place to avoid. Never been there myself, just heard it from others. It's a place to pick up freelancers. Can be quite dangerous and a lot of post-op LBs will try to pass themselves as woman to unsuspecting punters.

I arrived in Nana late about midnight and at the time I was thinking it was too late to pull out anything great.
