I think they rather naively don't realise the depth of this industry in the economy; sure it should be regulated, sure safe sex should be encouraged, but to ban it is to make it dangerous and push it further into the clutches of gangsters.

And all this is happening at a time when the government is lowering interest rates to encourage consumer spending!! This ban will leave valuable money in the banks of Korean and western consumers of these services, and stop the girls spending their hard-on earned cash in the department stores!

And, others know more than me, but I reckon the authorities have caught on to this board and are reading it. One service recommended here, I'd love to visit, but daren't take the chance. Room Salons - At least the place I visited in Kangnam the second round was not offered

Outcall - Apperas to be ok, there are several that are listed in the English version of the Korean Herald that are offering service. I did notice there were several days in a row that they did not even advertise. They are now back in the newspaper and when I called they offered service but I was too far out of Seoul for them to provide

Ipaywon - I did vist Starbucks on the hill and had a girl named Gina who had a great body, but her attitude sucked. I hate it when you conclude the deal with payment and then the sexy attidude goes away. It all becomes cold and mechanical. Service was offered both in the club or in a room very close by. I chose the room close by for 170,000 Won for everything. She also did mention that the ban is not really affecting Ipaywon, as she put it they are leaving the foreignors alone. Not sure if this it true. Maybe they are concerned if the GI's don't get their rocks off they will become unruly?

Massage Places - At least the one I visited in Miguem Satation (Bundang), for those of you interested PM me and I will give directions. 160,000 for full service plus a 20K service charge for foreignors ( I hate that). you should have read my report on Finkle, yes there are several Starbucks and I was looking for Finkle for an hour or so until I decided to take a walk and found the 2ns Starbucks.

At Finkle I had such a great experience, maybe the best in Asia with a nice looking girlfriend. I wish she could speak some English to have diner and stay over night at my hotel.

I recently visited O2 (thanks to Ranco's post) and had a very nice time. I had a little trouble finding it at first so I thought I'd try to give back something to the forum and clear up the directions a little bit.

You want to go out towards the old electronics shopping mall from the Yong San station. The store Ranco mentioned is ETLand. It's the one with the big poster of Gundam (a giant robot). At first, I thought he was talking about the new E-mart that just opened, so I went towards the wrong side.

Basically get out of the old electronics shopping mall (the one where you take the long catwalk to) and walk towards ETLand. Walk along the building and it'll eventually turn into a movie theatre. At the end of the block, go a little further and you'll see the orange sign for O2.

160,000 won and I thought the service was awesome (it was my first massage place so I can't compare to any other place). I asked the girl about the crackdown, and she didn't seem to be worried at all.

Even one of the mamasan taking the money was pretty attractive. I'm Korean-American so getting serviced was easy. I was planning to ask if they accepted foreigners but slipped my mind while getting serviced, sorry.

The Situation in Seoul is quite dismal at best.

Except Outcalls and Itaewon, it's really really gloomy. Few madams I talked with, they all refuse to meddle any FS, and interestingly enough, even the girls were afraid of this crackdown - it's supposed to "free" them. Damm !

The government is well aware of the current situation, and the madams are waiting for the 20th of this month - the 4 weeks from when the first crackdown starts - where the grip would be loosen.

I think you overestimate the intelligence of the average copper in Korea. Many of them are just doing their National Service (as an alternative to military) and in three years, I couldn't find one who could even SPEAK English, let alone read and understand it (and I'm not saying that is a BAD thing - it's just a fact!) I've been inside police stations, too.

FRIENDS is known to the police, who, periodically "raid" the place, as they do other massage "clinics". This happens when other operators make bogus complaints, or when unsavoury clients (usually drunks) moan to the nearest cop to be found.

The matter is usually well catered for, by the warning systems in place, though - as in ALL these places - occasionally, the proprietor and/or the girls have to take a trip "downtown" for questioning.

The girls are usually asked things like "What do you do?" (Answer: "Only massage." Question: "What about hand play?" (Answer: "No, never.")

A check of the id card or driver's licence is made to confirm that the girls are of age and that is that!

Funnily enough, I am in Australia, now. Yesterday, an ad appeared in the adult section of our paper: "A Korean Doll" massage...I called the number and spoke some Korean - the girl didn't have a clue! As far as I could tell from her accent, she is probably Chinese!

For those of you reporting that the crackdown hasn't affected the hill, look again. Almost all the clubs at the top of the hill were closed tonight to include the infamous Fantasy.
