San Salvador. Logistics & Part 1
i flew united out of san diego with short lay-overs in houston. the flight was $600 and change. united upgraded me to business class on two different flights, which was great.
currency: the official currency is the good old us dollar.
tourist / visa fee: $10 and payable on entry.
hotel:
i stayed at the novo apart-hotel again. i booked through their web site. four nights in a suite with a small kitchen was $320. 00. the hotel managed airport pick-up for $30. room had up and running wi-fi, big flat screen tv, and was quite comfortable. room also came with free breakfast buffet, which stopped at 10:00. i'm usually not a breakfast guy, but it was a local fare and was very tasty. hotel had a pool and bar. bar was open until 11:00, but closed on sunday. hotel staff was outstanding!
taxis or drivers were always available in front of the hotel. if i wanted to use them long term, such as to drive me around to check out different places, which i did on a few occasions, the price was usually $10 per hour. which was good, considering gas prices started at $3. 96 per gallon. i met a new driver this trip, alex with yellow cab. i stored his number in my phone and whenever i called him, he arrived within 5-7 minutes. this also included a 5:30 in the morning call. pm me if you want his number.
cell phone:
the cell phone was my best friend. cloudalex was kind enough to drop off a sim card at the hotel the a few days before. it is great to have a friend like alex, we would party on saturday for sure.
first night (thursday) : i got settled in the hotel by 10:30 in the evening, but there was no time for resting; could do that when i return home. i wanted to play with the sisters! it was off to kairos!
kairos:
no cover on thursday. friday and saturday, cover was $4 which included a free pat-down and a beer. that seemed to be the norm at all the places i visited, the cover included a free pat-down and a beer / drink. in most places, it was only one of their cheap ass beers, and dammit, i don't drink beer. i had to pay a buck extra for a screwdriver; no biggie. there were a butt load of women in the place and some were quite stunning. the meseros / mesera were outstanding. there are rooms above the club, but i never made it up there.
no time to waste, i came for the sisters, and especially kimberly. i called kim a few days before and told her i was in route. i had a mesero find her and she came over and planted a bunch of kisses on me; i was indeed quite happy. it wasn't that much longer when her sister, andrea, spotted me and planted a bunch of kisses on me; hell, i got even happier! we grabbed a couch and the only time they left me was to dance or [CodeWord134]. andrea was wearing a necklace that had a cross hanging off the end of the chain. she took it off, put it around my neck, and said,"proteccióand." i thought nothing of it at the time.
well after the place was closed we were still partying. at one point, the girls wanted to dance for me while i was sitting next to the stage. then andrea asked me if i had a camera. me with a camera? does a one-legged duck swim in circles? i did not know how to say that in spanish, but she got the message when i was smiling from ear to ear. we started the photo shoot! on stage and off stage, i was taking some nice shots.
i wasn't long before andrea was drunk and she did the same thing that she did our last night in may. she started getting upset because i was playing with kim more, and her just a tad less. the drama proceeded for a good 30 minutes! i tried to calm her down, just like i did the time before, but i failed badly once again. i guess counseling drunk chicas is not my strong point. i wish i could take a course in that, you know, counseling drunk chicas 101.
kim indicated that she wanted me to come her house, because she had a problem going back to my hotel, so i figured what the hell; let's go! but she did not want us to be seen leaving together, so she told me to meet her in the pool table bar that was upstairs and faced the street. sure, i'm game. before i headed up to the bar, i reminded her how she left my dumb ass in the street the last time we were together. she said this time would be different, as well as telling me that pigs could fly!
i headed up to the bar and it seemed like a decent place, and the operator / bartender was a really nice dude. we chatted while i waited and in a bit later, lo and behold, the sisters walked in! i kissed my cross! i was now a true believer. she wanted to wait for her club to clear out because she did not want to be seen leaving together; again! so we partied up there for about an hour and more pictures were taken.
the stalker:
while we were enjoying ourselves on the couch in kairos, these two dudes sitting at the stage kept looking our way. i thought it was because kim was buck naked and sitting on my face while andrea was dry humping my crotch; damn, i love the sisters! and every now and then, the dudes would come to the back of the couch and try to get kim's attention, but she just blew them off. even when the place was closed, they still hung out. they seemed to enjoy the photo shoot as well.
i asked kim about the dudes and she told me that only one of them follow her around. they left after the photo shoot. the sisters and i were in the upstairs bar and i went a take a leak, and when i returned, the stalker was sitting in the chair that kim had her belongings in. this made me a tad nervous, but i had the cross; proteccióand! kim talked to the bartender and he quickly removed the dude. we stayed for about another 30 minutes, and when we stepped out on the stairs, the stalker was sitting on his motorcycle and looking up at us. jesus tap dancing christ! the bartender went down to have a word with him, and he finally left.
let the adventure begin!
i get in the cab first, and the cabbie saw me and his $gringo$ eyes lit up. kim or the bartender would not play his game, and they settled on $12. i had no idea where in the hell we were going, but he was driving for forever and two days! with the gas prices at $3. 96 a gallon, i'm sure we used up more than $12 bucks in gas. kim had passed out on my chest, and i was wondering if we were headed to guatemala, but i had the cross; proteccióand! we stopped after about an hour and i start looking for landmarks and so forth. he head into what seems like a huge gated community and now i'm counting how many blocks we went past the main gate.
we arrive at her house and there are steel doors to go though and the place was pretty secure. i walked around to look for other exits; just in case. it was a two bedroom, but no one else was in the place. she has two kids, but they live with her mother; might have something to do with her occupation. we crashed hard, but only for about 4 hours. when she woke up, she walked over and took a huge shot of vodka; i wanted to marry her on the spot! we hung out and played for a few hours before we realized just how hungry we were. in the refrigerator; not a fucking thing! so it was off to a restaurant. we took a three-wheeled bastard of a taxi to the main road, then waited patiently for a bus. finally we reached the restaurant. on the way in, i said hello to the guy with the shotgun at the front of the restaurant; which is typical throughout the area.
the restaurant was called el ja bali. it had a big outdoor area setup with tables and hammocks. the weather was good, so we sat outside. the food and service were excellent. every time i ordered a drink in el salvador, the server would ask if i wanted a double; got to love that! during the meal, i asked her where the father of her children was, and she told me that he was killed in a motorcycle accident 4 years ago; for whatever reason, i believed her.
i had a mix up with the phone sim card and had to call the hotel, and my us phone refused. and her phone was out of minutes; go figure. so i asked one of the restaurant staff members if i could use their phone and the manager came to my aid. i used his phone and talked to the hotel for about 10 minutes while they searched for the card. when i was done, i wanted to give him a few bucks, and he refused to take it. i insisted, and he took it. kim gave me a hard time for tipping, as she did the night before. i told her enough already and i had a good mind to walk over and give the guy with a shotgun a propina if she said another word. el salvador is not much of a tipping country.
the restaurant manager called us a cab and negotiated a price for us as well. i would be $20 bucks to drop her off at her place and to take me back to my hotel; during rush hour! we dropped her off, and little did i know, he had no idea where the hotel was located. he was trying to find the hotel, and keep giving yelling formal commands to other taxi drivers to show him where the hotel was. one cab did, and we starting following him and after about 30 minutes, i decided it was stupid following another cab, paid my driver, and jumped in the other cab. it took 2. 5 hours to get to the hotel from kim's place; fuck!
