I asked this a while ago and got one response. I head to Amsterdam the end of the week so looking for any new Intel. I've done the windows and the private houses. You said you got terrible service in the RLD of Amsterdam. You might want to try the RLD in Alkmaar or The Hague. Service is usually better there, and it's cheaper.

+1 for kinky if you are trying not to wander around playing Russian roulette. The Hague is definitely a good option if you're hell-bent on doing some window shopping, while getting away from the crowds and hustlers. Also, if you're looking for extras, I've had much more success negotiating (without getting had) there compared to De Wallen.

That being said, you will find some gems in the main RLD. No surprises, no attitude, just straight up good service. They are hard to come by, but do exist. While most keep the same window, some do move around a little, so I'm hoping they haven't moved too far since the last time I visited.

I just arrived in the Dam yesterday but made good on my time. Into the hotel for a quick 3 hour nap (the plane ride was just horrible) and off to explore. From there to 118 is an hour one way by tram. So actually 2 hours round trip. Difference from prive 42 and 118 back to my hotel is about 1. 5 hours. I can take a taxi and the round trip to 118 is 45 minutes but pricey. I might as well just hire an escort to my room (from Desire, not SS) at that point.

Thanks for the clarification for others. I agree these two places are closer together and based on where you are located 118 is the better choice. you location may make it not as big a deal as where i need to stay.

Walked throughout the RLD. A lot of windows are for rent, I have been coming here since the 80's. You can tell the RLD is dying a slow death. Although the death seems to be speeding up in the last couple years.

Private house Park 118 and RLD De Pijp will be a lot faster to reach, coming from the city centre or the south of the city (or even the airport), when the new subway line opens on July 22.

The new line is the blue line in the map. Station De Pijp will be close to Park 118 and the RLD.

Coming from the airport you can take a train to Amsterdam Zuid (Amsterdam South), which only takes 7 minutes, where you can make the transfer to the subway.

From there it's about 5 minutes to station De Pijp. And from that station it's either a 5 minute stroll to the RLD or Park 118.
