Sad news as I had noted he was not on the board and not YM either where I usually was chatting with him.

Having known him for some time but nowhere near as log as you, he was a good guy despite his demeanor at times. We all have flaws and DS certainly had his but he looked after his extended family well. All the children etc and never shirked those responsibilities, unlike many others in Asia.

GE.[/QUOTE]Sorry to hear the news of DS, only meet him very briefly so can't say I knew him other than his writings here, I was seated not far from him at one of his favorite restaurants, he gave me the nod of approval to the wine I select and without being rude complemented my lady friend on her attire. Many reports of him being gruff and angry, I can only say he was a gentleman in my presence. While most of us know very little of each other private life, GoodEnough could you please enlighten us with his cause of death?

While having lived in the Phils for a number of years, had never made it down to Davao. Reading his posts made me want to make the trek one of these days. Hardly ever posted in this section but always read with interest as he was a great writer, similar to Sir L who used to come to the Phils more often. I know not many read this forum as DS stated that a few times, but I really enjoyed it.
