our conversations along these lines were more along the lines of "hey, tell me about your life" and not at all along the lines of looking for a handout, which i've definitely experienced on other occasions.
anyway, i have to give the beer garden an a+.

first of all, i have to commend evil on his well written story above about the biergarten on soi jet (7). it was great to read about a place that i seem to end up from time to time when i am in bangkok. i'm there, if for no other reason, the decent and reasonably priced food, and of course the occasional tg gem that can be found from time to time. although i don't consider myself a cheap charlie, i do watch my baht when in thailand. we all do. have to make x amount last for the x amount of time we are there, right?
i recently made my 8th trip to los for a few weeks of r&r. the long winter had taken its toll on me, and i just wanted to spend some time somewhere it was warm. since i am no stranger to thailand, i thought, why not? i can speak thai at about 90% thanks to my desire to learn the language, and a long relationship with a tgf in the past. as far as learning the language, some things are easy to get through, and some of the words and phrases, are just hard as hell to pronounce, no matter how hard i'd try. just when i think i'm saying it right, i'm not.
back to the biergarten. it's just like evil states. it is hit or miss. when i am there, i don't keep my eye on the door waiting to pounce on the occasional semi-stunners that walk in. but i will walk around the room, and check things out. and as i am walking around the room, i'm equally aware of the girls trying to make eye contact with me. some more than others, desperately. especially the girls that have no hope of getting picked up that day. and believe me, there are plenty of those. but for the 18 or 20 girls that i have taken out of there over the years, they were almost all great in bed, desired to please me, plus many gfe's, and many of them i called back a second and third time, which was even usually better than the first.
who to look for? i look for that one girl, sitting by herself, and not sitting at the bar. i know her when i see her. sitting by herself indicates to me that she doesn't sit in there everyday. and age doesn't mean anything to me. some of the best damned times i've ever had were with a girl in her late 20's to mid thirties. some of these girls are just plain hot for it. just like any normal woman in that age range.
if she's in my "pass" category, i'll walk up to her, and speak thai with her. i usually start off with how are you doing? how is your day? oh my buddha it's hot outside, isn't it? small talk can be big, because they are immediately comfortable with you, the farang, because you speak thai, at least a little bit, or are at least trying. then the invariable questions start: where i am from? and tham ngan kungthrep chai mai? (are you working in bangkok?). i'll always tell them "nit noi". you can find out a lot about your prospect by talking with them. many times, it's a sad story (at least to me). usually there is a small child involved, living with the sister, or the mother. some of these girls see their kid or kids two and three times a year, when they travel to their hometown (village). that's a fact. sort of sad. many of these girls have to be there at the bg. this is "work" to them. short of stealing, or robbing a bank, they've got no choice, to make the kind of money, they can make by doing a st. $45 dollars to a thai girl is alot of money. money makes the world go round, and it is just as true in thailand, as it is anywhere else. one girl i spent a few afternoons with worked with her sister in a new laundry shop they owned. she was a real cutie, a solid 8, with long hair. she probably weighed 100 lbs soaking wet. her sister and her set up agreements with many of the thai locals around the shop they wereworked (out by the old don muang airport), to do all the laundry and shirts for these people for 600 baht a month. all the laundry by hand, and that included ironing and folding, pressing, and all that stuff. she showed me her hands, and they looked like those of a 60 year old woman from all the work. i'd have given her a nine, if not for her worn out hands. with a baby or two at home, they come up short each month, and she'd be in there towards the end of the month, trying to make ends meet, trying to make the rent money. one girl told me she made 22 baht an hour working at the mini-mart in ekkamai. that's around .70 cents an hour. small money. when you see a girl drinking a glass of water, you can bet times are tough for her. these girls like someone nice taking care of them, if only for a few hours. treat them to a bite to eat. you treat them good then, and believe me, they'll treat you good later on in the sack. it's never failed me, ever.
don't be rude, don't be a flaming loud mouth idiot (plenty of those kind of guys in the bg from time to time). and wear nice clothes. evil's reference to some of those guys that show up is so true. some of these guys i've seen look like they finished working out at the gym somewhere, or haven't shaved in a week. as disgusting that some of these girls are to you, believe me, if you show up looking like a douche bag, or a slob, the pickings go down. i know from hundreds of conversations through the years who the freelancers want to go with, and it's not the sloppy, big mouthed, unhealthy looking "pig" that i saw around bangkok more and more, this past trip. these girls are human too. make no mistake about it. they are, also, for the most part, brutally honest, and will tell you how it is. if you are fat, they'll tell you are, especially if you ask them if you are. that's how it is with them.
sure there might be other places, but for p4p, and best bang for the buck, the biergarten on soi 7 is hard to beat. give it a try. chok dee!
