Reading comprehension on an internet forum is important. For the third time, my generalization about Colombian restaurants is based on four major cities of Colombia (Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin). Again, I have never been to Bogota.
So is politeness.
Remember: posts are delayed: I posted before you mentioned your generalization -- even though it was in the Bogotá section -- was based on never having been to the country's principal city. Rather like judging US cuisine based solely on a tour of Indiana. Though, now I think about it, that's likely to be fairly accurate.
What are your top 5 mongering spots to visit in Bogota and why?
Rodeo
I do go to the other four major cities of Colombia (Barranquilla, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin). In all of those cities, Colombian food is boring and Colombian restaurants suck...Restaurants are far better in San Jose.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Colombia is the easiest place in the world to meet and date beautiful women. Other than the women, almost everything about Colombia sucks. Without the women, there is absolutely no reason to ever step foot in Colombia.
I disagree with everything you wrote above. There are very good restaurants in those cities, certainly better than San Jose. The museums, the architecture, the old city in Cartagena, the countryside around Medellin.-there are a lot of reasons to visit Colombia besides the women.

This part of your post is so narrow minded it defies credulity.
I find Colombia fascinating on several different levels; cultural, geographical, political, economic, just to mention the easy ones.
Sure the women are the real hook but that goes for all of Latin America, IMO!
If it sucks that much, don't go. Brasil & the DR are waiting.

If you want a girlfriend experience! If you like No Pro! You have to meet this girl is great! Marcia, 25 yo, The most important thing is Never say NO! LOL! Shes in Bogota but is ok traveling! Info contact PVT me!
The women in Colombia are just beautiful for sure, but there are more reasons that that. Guatape alone is worth the trip, I thought that was one of the more beautiful sceneries of the world. Flying those loony paragliders above Medellin, you feel like the bottom fell out of the world when you take off, but what a rush! Cartegena for the old town, the winding roads thru the mountains, it's a fascinating place. So much more that I can't think of right now.
Sorry it's taken me so long to report about this guy. I have been to BOG a few times, and each time I use William, a guide in Bogota. He lived in the states for a while, so he has good knowledge of English. He also understands the hobby and knows where the best spots are in Bogota. My favorite part about him is that he is about 6'2" and pretty large. Taking him along with you to the more dangerous parts of BOG is not a bad idea.
William drives a four-person tourist van and is licensed, etc. He has always been on time to the airport, and he has always been very nice to me. He really goes the extra mile for his customers, and that is why I am posting on here.
His rates are pretty good too IMO, and he is very flexible on them. Just ask for a quote. I typically end up using his services for an entire day and paying him about $100 a day. For a day's worth of driving you around, showing you places, and being your bodyguard, that's a good deal.
William's contact info is:

He checks his e-mail regularly; I've always gotten a response from him within a day or two.
I told him I was going to recommend him to the forum, so tell him I sent you.
Thanks for the Info
A few friends and I will be in Bogata, Ap 23rd, for just an afternoon and part evening so I'll send him an email to see if he can take us arround. I've been in Bogata 3-4 times and still have a hard time finding my way arround.
Thanks for the info!

PLEASE don't be paying a taxi driver $100USD a day. That is so way overmarket it's ridiculous. Most of them will work for 12k-15k COP per hour. Do NOT pay more than 15k an hour for a driver here unless they are driving a 40 passenger bus or something!
1. Abejitas carrera 14 calle 83. Really pretty girls offering very good service.
2. Atunes (calle 22) in the afternoon: lots of girls, very cheap. Some very pretty girls go there before heading for most expensive clubs like "la piscina" or "el castillo".
3. carrera 15 calle 104: good location in the north, sometimes you find real gems here.
4. la 49 (if you are into overpriced clubs). not my cup of tea.

My cross-city trips get them around 20k for 30-45 mins work, for comparison.
But sure, USD100/day sounds a bit much -- unless its a 10 hour day of course. Though it sounds like he's buying some personal safety and an English speaker too for that price, which you won't get from a normal cabby.
For someone I know and trust to come pick my up in the airport in the morning, take me wherever I want to go during the day, stick with me when I go places, make recommendations, speak fluent English, and take me to my hotel at night, $100 USD is completely fine and fair in my book. And it's not a taxi. It's a nice air conditioned van.
But to each his own. Obviously, you can get around Bogota for much less if you know where you're going and don't mind going it alone. I simply put the information out there for those interested.
What? You can't come up with 5 places?
Just kidding.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
