I am making reservations at this hotel:Hotel Bonavento Del Mar in Cartagena.
The rate is 19 bucks a night, with AC, cable TV and its in Bocagrande near to the San Martin's Avenue and the beach according to the website. Anyone has any info on this place? Is it safe?
I'm gonna be there real soon, so I'd appreciate any advie
Thanx
I have never stayed there but I know the hotel . It is a very small hotel but in a good location with lots of restaurants and close to the beach . It is probably a 10 minute walk to the beach.
The reason for the low price is off season , go back during school break or Easter and the price will be $50 a night. More important it is girl friendly although they will charge you 10,000 pesos for the extra person.
Hot water in a city that is 90 degrees everyday is wasted. The hot water tank sits on the roof and the cold water heats up during the day in the sun and you have hot water for a shower the next morning.
It is a very safe area I have been visiting Cartagena for 20 years and using the humble principle have never had any problems.
Have a great time
You being kind to call parts of Louisiana " third world" Beavis, there is no state remotely close to Louisiana, it truly is a different place.
Well if that won't qualify as third world I truely have been to some, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Congo, Angola, now there are some third world countries.
I lived in Louisana for 4 yrs in Plaquermines Parish in a little town called Buras, Louisiana working on the oil rigs out Of Venice, Louisiana. I think the place got wiped off the map by Katrina. Venice is the second southern most town on the Mississippi of which Orchard is the first. I never saw anything that looked like some of the third world countries I have been in.
I know that area very well. Please explain what makes that part of the country anything but third world?

Hey there, can anyone tell me if the massage places in the Cartagena list are worth going to?
are they just massage, or massage with hj/bj or full service?
I see them listed, but noone really says anything about them.
thanks guys
It has been a while since I have been to CTG and need to answer a question to an associate. Which ATM's will allow you to withdraw $400,000 pesos?
I withdrew 400 bills from the ATM in the Hilton Hotel in Laguito. Safer than a usual ATM also, since no one knows why you're coming in and out of the hotel, as opposed to an ATM...

Bancolombia, now merged with Conavi, allows 400K as does Servibanca, maybe BBVA and a couple of others. Davivienda allows 500K.
Thanks Tom, hope your doing well.
Beavis;
There is on ATM in Bocagrande that will allow you to withdraw 500,000 at a time, it is about 100 meters down from the supermarket and near the Italian restraunt with the hotel run by the Italians. The ATM booth is by the coldest place in Cartagena period....
Thanks, I am just trying to find out for a friend who goes there. His bank charges him $7.50 for international withdrawals. I used to get $400,000 from the one inside of Olympica in Boca Grande. I followed this chick inside of there one day but at the time my digital camera was one of those that took about 10 seconds to warm up and by the time it was ready she was inside of the market.
That was during the Coronacion de la reina in 2003. They were everywhere.
