[i]You would be surprised about what they can and can not do Jimmy. Many of them actually read these pages. And there's tons of cyber cafes all over the place. They charge less than $0.50 USD per hour.[/i]
[red] Lowest rates I found were $2 an hour and I have been to over 35 cafes![/red]

You must be going to tourist trap cafes.
But in the 6 weeks I just spent there, I never paid more than $25 pesos per hour.

Rebunk!!!!
[i]Wow, never thought they would be able to get over on you guys so easily. Not even sure how to start debunk some of the stuff you guys have claimed here.
1) You could have 100 trips to the Dominican Republic, and yet I am Dominican, so which one do you think knows the country better? [red] Being Dominican and living elsewhere or going to DR yearly? Unsure what you mean. [/red]
2) Cyber cafe's are all over the place, hell when I was coming back on Feb 19, I spent 2 hours at the Santo Domingo airport(SDQ) and there's a cyber cafe there. $25 pesos per hour. At the time the Dollar was about $45 Pesos to $1 USD.
[red] Maybe its just that one. In Jarabocao it was about a dollar an hour. [/red]
3) Women down there won't want you to know they know more than you think they know. Sometimes they do just to guide you around by the nose. but overall they like the power of you under estimating them.
[red] Could it be some are really as dumb as they act because I have met some that you say there are, but not all are that smart. [/red]
4) So much so do you guys underestimate them that I'll give you an example. Some of you claim that they don't know english. Guess what one of them showed me around Januarya 15, 2004?
She showed me this website: http://www.freetranslation.com/ .
While not a perfect translation. It does give them an idea of what you are writing about them.
[red] All the internet cafes in Sosua and Caberete have that program. [/red]
Also. Thre's another thread on this board about how one of the guys got a call from the girl he wrote about in here.
And as a last nail, If they didn't know about computers and the internet, wouldn't it be easier for you to post photos of them? But they tend not to like people taking their photos because their friends and their families might see them.
Oh and in case you think I am just talking out of my ass:
Telephones - main lines in use: 709,000 (1997)
[red] Population is 10,000,000 so thats .7% [/red]
Telephones - mobile cellular: 130,149 (1997)
Internet Service Providers (ISPs): 24 (2000)
Internet users: 186,000 (2002)
Notice how there's more internet users than cell phones?
The Dominican Republic has so many internet users that they are ranked 78 out of 203 countries.
But you keep under estimating them.
Reminds me of a great quote from one of my favorite movies.
Don't get too cocky my boy. No matter how good you are don't ever let them see you coming. That's the gaffe my friend. You gotta keep yourself small. Innocuous. Be the little guy. You know, the nerd... the leper... shit-kickin' surfer. Look at me.
[stops and pauses]
Underestimated from day one. You'd never think I was a master of the universe, now would ya?
Devils advocate. John Milton.
Also. An advantage of getting them into using or giving you an email adress is that you can have them send you photos or even chat with them sometimes using webcams.
[red] Many good points here but some things can go either direction. [/red]

>Being Dominican and living elsewhere or going to DR yearly? Unsure what you mean.
I keep more informed about DR than people who just show up to monger. I still have family down there. I can tell you that many of you don't know alot about the country that would make life a hell of a lot easier for you. Me I have a business card from my uncle with his cell phone and home number. I show it to any officer be it police or military and they salute me and walk away. Never have my bags open at airport either. (Helps my uncle is a 2 star general).
>Maybe its just that one. In Jarabocao it was about a dollar an hour.
No it's not just that one. I mentioned that one in particular because if I mentioned the other ones you wouldn't know where they are. Not to mention that ussually airport prices are more expensive.
Go near the Loteria there's antoehr cyber cafe by there. Also another one by KM 10 of Independecia also under $1 USD per hour.

try this link "http://www.datamovil.net.do/" to send a free text message to cell phones in RD.
Too cool

I am off for my first trip to the DR on 3/17. I am not sure who to contact with this, but I think this message board needs a section or new topic called, MONGER DICTIONARY. It would be a very useful topic for important terms relevant to a DR visit.
If someone can make this happen, please do so asap.
Otherwise if someone is very experienced in mongerism and the language lingo that goes with it, post up the most relevant terms or email them to me at [blue][Email address deleted by Admin][/blue]
Thanks in advance.

Question?
My guys and I are headed to DR in a few weeks. What's the best city to fly into if we wanna be near the MOST beautiful working girls?
Not the high mileage veterans. We want to deal with the best of the best. Video quality girls.

A Monger dictionary [:-)))]...
You know, I've actually been thinking about a "multilingual" (no pun intended, or maybe so) monger dictionary for a while now. And while my professional line of work would make me supremely qualified to do so (linguistics and translation) in addition to my "field research", it's the same job responsibilities that unfortunately keep me so busy that I never seem to have the time to get down and just do it. But I promise, whenever I get a free moment, I'll put my (cunni)linguist skills to work for all you guys benefits, finally. After all, can't even remember how many girls have asked me to translate their negotiations with potential clients, once they figured out what I do for a living. I am serious.
Note to Jackson: how about a language section for sex-related terms on this site? After all, sex is multi-language. Just an idea.

Video Quality
Well it really depends on your taste.
If its your first time in DR and don't have friends that have been there a couple of time and know there way around, then first stop should be Sousa
(POP airport) and then work your way away from Sousa.
Without a doubt, I think Santiago is a video choice.
A couple of things, must know spanish, in Puerta Plata & Sousa, some women speak some english & willing to help. Santiago is a city, much bigger which translates into more women, clubs like Illusion, Casa Blanca & Passions are really nice, but spanish is a must. Also having a car is the way to go in Santiago, POP & Sousa you can get away without it. The further you get away from tourist areas, the women are sweeter & non americanized, you can get away with murder if your half way fluent.
Cannot comment on Santa Domingo, going there on march 26 for the first time.

McNasty,
You have asked a question to which they may be many answers. But in my opinion and many trips the best looking girls are in Santo Domingo. The city has the most variety and ranges from the darkest to lightest girls and of course lots to choose from.
-
Lots of queries about where the best looking women are in the Dominican Republic. I have my own personal favorite little out-of-the-way towns in the country, but generally the best melting pot is without a doubt Santo Domingo. And I will explain why. In this country, the goal of most young people is to move from the country to Santo Domingo. They think this is where they will find a better life. The Dominican Republic is a backward place. Outside the bigger cities such as Santo Domingo and Santiago, and away from what I like to call tourist areas, is without a doubt some of the most beautiful country you can imagine. In United States, for example, obviously a more advanced country, the people have recognized the value to peace and quiet and beauty away from big metropolitan centres. Just the opposite here, they don't get it. So what you get is a mass exodus of girls from all over the country heading to Santo Domingo. Name a place: Mao, Moca, Jarabacoa, Santiago, Higuey, Cotui, Azua, Bani, Barahona, San Francisco, San Juan etc, etc, etc. You will run into them in Santo Domingo. They are everywhere.
Hope this helps.

They have a saying in Dominican Republic.
"La Capital es capital, y todo lo otro es monte."
Means: "The capital is the capital, everything esle is boondocks"
So yeah the goal of everyone is to go to the capital and either make money to move back home or move to the capital to live.
For yoru first time I would recomend people go to the capital.
After that, travel around the Island.

McNasty,
If you do not find someone to guide you around. Contact Mr Particular. I used him as a guide. He was excellent! He truely spent his entire time making sure I had a great time. Plus he was a great conversationalist for dinner.
