Regarding your advise on approach in Ahemadabad, that is the most simplest of method that you posted and can be applicable in almost any part of the world LOL. You need not be a seasoned monger to figure it out, Also the method unfortunately doesn't fetch desired results even 10% of times. Particularly in Ahemadabad you will find the rejection ratio even more with face of shame at times even. Tell me is it worth going around 50 times in richshaw from station to any destinations in the hope that the driver may shell out a place. Who knows whether the place you found is safe from LE etc.

A word of caution, I had an extremely bad experiance in trying that method. Was taken to House in a similar fashion and through similar route, at the point of negotiating with the pimp few guys walked in and started threatning to arrest everyone, however luckily I got away by citing few names I knew of politicians and Police officers.
