Mongers need to move on and try different places
I had specified clearly: I have never spent a penny on any of the above exploiting setups. Not in Phuket, not in Pattaya, not in Bangkok. Caveat emptor.
Yes I've heard that, it sucks. Buddhism teaches: "everything changes". We can just move on.
Right! And more mongers need to do that. Move on. We are always reading about mongers complaining how things have changed, and they are not to their liking, and the conclusion is that the location is not as good as it once was. They blame the problem on the situation, but I think the problem is with the mongers, who can't move on. They seem stuck in the same habit and they keep expecting the same results. Problem is that they are chasing their past. Same thing on the other forums: Sosua, Colombia, the German FKK thread. Mongers complain about the places not being like they remember them, and they complain of dissatisfaction and disappointment. I think they would avoid this disappointment if they could just try something different.
I don't mean to brag, but this past year, since my divorce last June has been a great year. I went to Berlin (my first visit to Europe in over a decade) and had some great mongering experiences in Berlin, as well as reconnecting with an old friend. Last month, I went to Medellin and had a great time there. Honestly, I would love to visit these places again. Medellin in particular is inexpensive to fly to (thanks to Spirit Airlines), it isn't a long journey and the mongering costs are dirt cheap. But, I think I would benefit from trying something new. As I mentioned earlier, I visited an old friend in Berlin. I asked if I could come back for a visit soon. He said "Sure, but you should really visit Asia first. " I didn't argue with him. So I am planning a trip to the LOS in the fall. I have little doubt I will have a blast. So what if some mongers don't like what it is now. What impact will that have on my visit? None! It will all be new to me. That said, all of you Thailand enthusiasts might consider a different continent with a different language. The Dominican Republic, Peru or maybe even Brazil (their currency has seriously devalued in recent years). Keep trying new things and you won't be too disappointed.
