I can not understand many people in my own country (USA). Texas accent, Boston accent, and blacks that think they developed a new language because they dropped the "are" in words. I will admit that sometimes I would leave off the ribu as I was confident that the girls knew I wasn't talking about coins LOL. I didn't find these words that hard to pick up at all and the language is much easier than trying to learn something like Thai for example.

Also saying just "tigga lima" as in your example could lead to confusion. I personally like the puluh, ratus, and ribu words because it makes it so there can be no confusion.

Do you have some information about action and nightlife in PIK? I feel like the three weeks I spent in north Jakarta cost me one week of my life because of the polluted air. For my next trip I'm looking for alternative locations. And PIK, being a chiq area close to the sea might be an option. The area seems very expensive. The way people are talking about it a simple apartment there might be more expensive than a four star hotel in North Jakarta. But it might still be worth it. I would love to stay in an area where I can actually walk around a bit.

I've never done BBFS with any P4 P. Maybe you should stay mongering in those countries then and as another post quoting yours, again "so far from the truth". Indonesian has its everyday usage on a case-by-case basis, like any other language. Readability and audibility entail certain limitations and practices. That's why in any language, phone numbers with 9 digits will never be read out as billions (thousand millions), although they will per se be written as such.

I don't think it's the same as the current train tracks. I saw several posts of yours in the Jakarta oldtimers section too.

Anyways back to the numbers and seeing them spelled out, I managed to bring back three of these older rupiah notes that I think are being phased out.
