Looks like I lied previously about it being my first and only post. Anyway just wanted to respond to this as I don't like being referred to as slimy, smarmy, brazen or mendacious. Hopefully from the quality of my English it was apparent I am a genuine English guy.

I can understand the scepticism when dealing with the sex industry but my post was authentic. I've been to Budapest maybe 20 or more times, and to Bulgaria twice but never to Romania. I want to check out Bucharest though, and have been meaning to come for a long time. How does Bucharest compare for these things? Also, in Budapest, I like to stay just outside of the city centre. Would this be OK to do in Bucharest too? Safe to ride the public transport at night? I want to avoid staying in the most touristy part of town, wherever that is?

Having said I like Budapest, Hungarians are not the most open, chatty people you will meet, and most older people there can't speak English. However I have the impression from Romanian's I've met abroad, that most young people there speak English. Are they friendly towards foreigners? Having been in Sofia and driven to the black sea coast in 2003 and then again in 2013, I noticed that Sofia had become much quieter and more run down (as had the coastal resorts too) in the 10 years between my trips. I know Bucharest is a much larger city than Sofia, but has it also become more run-down in recent years too? Or is it a wealthier and livelier city than Sofia?

I'm planning on going next month. Any advice on my queries would be appreciated!

While I can't compare it to Budapest and Sofia, IMHO it is a shithole in almost every way. Very expensive, not very friedly people, not an attractive city, everyone is trying to rip you off and the mongering is very hit and miss. I don't know how safe it is, I suspect not very, but then I'm over 6 feet tall and well built, so not much can intimidate me. Sorry, but I think that most of the postings on this thread are consistent with that. I did find a really nice hotel, the K&K Elsabeta, near the centre and eventually 2 or 3 doable escorts from the simpatie. Ro website, but that was after lots of effort.

Slipping referred to 2 girls in an earlier post that looked really hot and I tried to get hold of both of them when I was last there, with no success.

Have you been anywhere else in Romania or Eastern Europe to compare it against? Especially regarding the unfriendly people as you say, who are you comparing them too? Could most people speak English though? I'm also surprised how expensive you said it is, were you just in the touristic centre, because I'm sure supermarket food etc is cheap there, like in Bulgaria and Hungary. Reviews are meant to be informative. That's why people write reviews. Especially in the escort world, where you don't always get what you see, reviews are there to inform people about which escort is real and / or worth the money and which is not. People don't buy Armani because of good reviews. They buy it because it's good quality. That's how a famous brand becomes a famous brand in the first place: it makes and sells quality products. Of course prices are higher in the tourist spots and there are nice parts of Romania (Sibiu, for example, is really great), as with all countries but, on average, it is not a place I would rush to. But hey, you seem to really want to go, so try it out and make up your own mind. And yes, most people speak English.
