Welcome to TrumpRepubCare
After 16 years of thinking and thinking and thinking about it, this is the best TrumpRepub alternative to Obamacare that Trump and his Repubs have come up with.
I mean, other than the classic Repub concept of a healthcare plan for America; If you get sick, get a lot sicker quickly and die soon.
Millions may drop ACA coverage and raise health insurance costs for everyone else
Enhanced premium subsidies for consumers who buy health insurance on the Affordable Care Act marketplace expired at the end of 2025.
About 22 million people received those enhanced premium tax credits last year.
Their premiums more than doubled, on average, in 2026 due to the lapse, according to KFF.
Millions of people are expected to drop their coverage amid soaring costs, which will likely raise premiums for everyone who remains, experts said.
Some experts warn of a potential death spiral in the ACA market if millions of young, healthy people drop their coverage.
Yes, those subsidies were supposed to be temporary. But that was when it was reasonably assumed the economic damage to American jobs and incomes from Trump's Pandemic would be fully recovered by Biden-Harris and the Dems in Congress. And, sure enough, it was recovered faster and stronger in America than anywhere else on the Planet; The Envy of the World Economy by November 2024.
However, since Repub Donald Trump became president again, well, we're heading back to the same or worse economic conditions Trump produced that triggered the need for those subsidies and back to the disastrous economic conditions Repub GW Bush produced to trigger the desperate need for Obamacare in the first place.
No more Envy of the World Economy now.
Consequently, this was a particularly bad time to eliminate those subsidies.
Oh well. We tried.
Thank you for your vote:

Again, what new Quebec investment dams, is it?
Trump madness and chaotic governance pushed them to stop their investment in dam construction targeting the amercican market I suppose. That why they signed contract who are keep the domstic consumption in priority and exportation in 2nd.
I still have no idea, what investment Quebec dams, you're talking about? Whether they be newly planned, in construction or either being developed, please provide the news article and/or link to the information, to which you're referring to?
The last Quebec dam build, planned or developed (that I know of), was the Romaine-4 hydroelectric plant (which is part of the La Romaine complex in Quebec), which finished in 2023, long before the MAGA Fuhrer's 2nd term chaos.
And despite, Elvis 2008's, wrongheaded and nonsensical rant on Canada, the U.S. is desperate and would love to have Canadian hydro power (and other resources). Empathizes on "desperate", as the MAGA Fuhrer, would love to make Canada the 51st state.
Debunked MAGA Worldview of Canada
The problem with this TDS madness is that it gets blamed for everything.
Yeah, and yet you MAGAs, as gullible as you are, still I bet, wonder where the infamous quote, "Everything thing Trump touches turns to shit!" comes from? LOL!
Yeah, Bennie, when I looked into Canada and their hydroelectric potential, it was great. Then you look at real estate prices, immigrants surging, crime rates in Canada, the political leadership, and especially the shit Ottawa pulled with the Covid trucker's strike, and I would not want to put a penny into Canada right now.
I grew up near Canada and I considered Canadians and Americans interchangeable.
What utter garbage on Canada! Immigration maybe higher, but not viewed in the same way, as the current shit-show MAGA admin. Also pretty sure, while Americans and Canadians, consider themselves neighboring border cousins (for lack of a better term), the use of the world "interchangeable" to describe us, is morally just all kinds of wrong!
I cannot even imagine investing in dams and power lines in crazy Canada and the brain dead blue regions in the Northeastern USA. I drive throughout West Texas, and there could be a 100 X more windmills than the huge amounts they have right now.
So yeah, in theory, Canadian hydroelectric could be a great solution to meet the surging demand for electricity, and kudos to you for bring up a subject I did not know about, but I would not touch it given the political reality.
Apart from the current long standing PPA contracts, that the northeast corridor of states have with Quebec (or Ontario), do you even know what the fuck, new Quebec dam investments Bennie is talking about? Or should I just assume, this is your "womanly" period of the mouth, but for you, it's "foot-in-mouth" disease?
The issue is not building the wind mills but the power lines to get the energy to market. Even in the huge Permian field, there was an issue with getting oil and gas to market from there, and electricity is even more constrained than oil and gas.
Glad you finally wised up, to what I've been telling you all along about the electricity struggles and poor stewardship of the grid, during the winter storm, rather then the usual MAGA blame of solar and wind.
And Spidy is a symptom of the liberal left and their lunacy on energy generation. He did not back off one iota when the cold spells left so many people without power when they needed it most. The liberal idiots attacked coal in the USA while China and India were constructing huge coal burning plants.
Nah, the "liberal idiots" verbally attack, the continued use of coal, equally, wherever it's happening, while promoting and fostering cooperative relationships for cleaner, fossil-free solutions. Unlike like the smarmy petrostate hypocrites, that plunder, rape and pillage other countries for their fossil fuels, in the name "drug trafficking" and "national security", while at the same time criticize China and India, for their air-pollution and using coal, as they make great efforts to transition away from fossil fuels, while they DO NOT.
Even today, Spidy is advocating Europe and its green energy policies. Look at what happened in Germany with nuclear: https://www.theglobaleconomy.com/Germany/nuclear_power_generation/ ...
And to meet their mandated carbon reductions, Germany imported massive amounts of natural gas from Putin. For all the Dems and their liberal bullshit talk about Putin, it was their idiotic energy policies that enriched Putin.
Yeah, I sure "drill-baby-drill" MAGAs, would also love to see Germany, keep importing massive amounts of "expensive LNG gas", at 2 x to 3 x the cost of Russian gas, from the USA, right.
See my previous post (to the other MAGA LCOE neophyte) on, Electrostate vs. Petrostate: Electricity Grid Infrastructure is Key! Nevertheless, as I already explained, the major impact and cause of "soaring energy bills" in Germany, is also due to the following three (3) critical things: http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/forum/showthread.php?2467-American-Politics&p=3046562&viewfull=1#post3046562 Difference is Germany's future, is better off for it, going forward.
So while the U.S. (under the MAGA Fuhrer) continues to blame renewables, and stumbles to upgrade its grid responsiveness and readiness, in the wake of the 2026 winter storm, Germany is learning from its gas contract mistakes, by making significant progress in electrifying its heating sector, developing large-scale heat pumps, leveraging geothermal energy, and advancing heat storage technologies.
Just more monkey business from the DNC
Nope. No wild coincidence. No witch's curse. No bad luck for Repubs. No weird economic or business cycle that only favors Dems and punishes Repubs.
Nope.
It's crap Repub economic policies and stewardship. Every time. For about 100 years.
And, sure enough, there's that ol" reliable and utterly predictable Worst Since a Previous Repub Economic Disaster designation!

Yeah butt you're pretty wrong
No, this is me telling you that you are an arrogant ass. I understand Dems who vote the way they do because it is in their best interest, but you have no clue as to why people vote Republican. What you keep repeating is that MAGA people are stupid when the truth is you are a narrow minded, egotistical blockhead. And if you are voting Democrat as a form of identity versus how Democrats are actually performing for you, your mindset is a danger to Democracy.
You and Tooms go on and on about how terrible the economy is. But do you talk to people who actually live here? And if you did and those people said they are doing great under Trump or in my case that I have not noticed much difference between Trump and Biden, how would you respond? The appropriate response is to balance what is in the news with what you are hearing personally. But what you and Tooms do is insult the people living here if they do not agree with you. If you are doing better under Trump, you must be stupid. Everyone is doing worse!
Now I am sure there are people and businesses who have been hurt by tariffs, but the tsunami of predicted inflation has not shown up in my life or in the government's own number. Thing is that you ignore the ones doing better because of tariffs. In fact, if you are a typical Dem, it is impossible that anyone could be doing better because of tariffs when that is just not true.
LOL. No, it is the same reason. If a nation is not the low cost producer of an item, the government playbook is always the same. You give taxpayer subsidies to the industries you want in your country. You claim the products of the nation who can produce a good more cheaply are not safe. "We can't be dependent on American only data centers. We need our own!" and you put taxes on the goods from that other country, and you know what those taxes are called? They are called tariffs.
So, no, Europe cannot compete with the USA on a level playing field with data centers, so Europe titled the field. Your shining example of European success and green energy would go tits up without government assistance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFXRoKzWFR0*.
Repub Trump is already the only so-called president since Repub Hoover, almost a hundred years ago, to leave office with fewer jobs in the USA economy than when he started his term. Now he very well might become the only so-called president to TWICE leave office in TWO separate terms with fewer jobs in the USA economy than when he started. Wow.

"Well, that's what those dumb Repub MAGA hillbillies voted for in an election that was clinched for them by that relatively tiny handful of angry Muslims spread across the only 3 swing states that mattered".
WTF dum Repub MAGA hillbillies? I don't know the avg MAGA IQ but I will be you $100 k cash money, its at least 2 or 3 SDs higher then the low IQ mental midgets that voted for Brain dead Harris.
You constantly love to bash Muslims so much? Why don't you blame the black males that voted for Our Lord and Savior those intelligent voters helped save America.
From the likes of the America hating, Harris voting trash!
It's only a matter of time
I'm thinking weeks, possibly months. But World War 3 should be upon us soon, and I'm looking forward to it. I hope I get vaporized by the first wave of nukes so I won't be feeling any pain. All that being said, I'm praying to Lucifer the Light-Bringer that I get to hobby one last time in Bangkok before the nukes launch. How awesome would it be if I was on a plane when the end came? Get it? Came? Ha!

Hot damn, an energy discussion!
Nah, the "liberal idiots" verbally attack, the continued use of coal, equally, wherever it's happening, while promoting and fostering cooperative relationships for cleaner, fossil-free solutions.
Except for China, which accepts reality, that it needs coal to provide firm baseload supply.
He did not back off one iota when the cold spells left so many people without power when they needed it most.
What do you expect? He's fixated on LCOE. He bizarrely believes that solar and wind are more reliable than natural gas and fuel oil during weather events. He probably doesn't realize utilities have fuel oil stocks and gas storage fields to handle cold spells. And doesn't appear to understand that you must have natural gas, coal, and/or nuclear plants for reliable baseload power, unless you live someplace like Quebec or New Zealand.
For the bigger picture, ignoring weather events, by focusing just on LCOE, he ignores a lot of costs. For example, the cost of transmission build-out, new and upgraded substations, etc. He fails to consider that storage for wind and solar is expensive. And extremely expensive more than 6 hours out. Please note on an average day with good weather you can only get meaningful solar generation for about 4 to 6 hours. For wind the average is 6 to 10 hours a day.
(Quebecois) have like 50% of their land covered of river and lake, its enough to produce enrgy for the whole world.
BAHAHAHAHA!
Duh! ...everyone knows, that output drops when snow covers a solar panel, and smart operators should naturally plan for it. But as petrol-heads insistently drown on about the failures of solar and wind, perhaps they should, they should why oil and gas output have also dropped in the 2026 frigid winter cold snap?
Tell me again, how will a U.S. grid, that runs 60% on fossil fuels, is going to power itself on fossil fuels going forward, when it can even get passed a winter storm, where production levels of oil and gas drastically drop off during a storm?
Gas production fell by maybe 10% nationwide during the "2026 frigid winter cold snap. " But withdrawals from gas storage fields made up for a lot of that, and in some areas all of it. Generation from solar nationwide fell by 60% to 90%, and wind fell by 30% to 60%.
Electricity generation from fuel oil and diesel (that is, oil) on the other hand increased a lot. During peak demand it accounted for 40%+ of power generation in New York and some other states in the northeast. Normally fuel oil and diesel account for less than 1% of power generation in New York.
Percentages above, except BennieBen's, are from ChatGPT.
Thank goodness for fossil fuels! Without them a lot of people would have gotten very cold.
I will correct you a second time. Production levels of oil are irrelevant to the discussion at hand. Nobody uses oil based products for power generation at scale because the electricity costs too much. Except in some blue states during freezes, because Democratic Party politicians hindered and prevented construction of gas pipelines.
5th Grade Maths:
However, it seems you still can't do basic 5th grade math, from my last post? Well here allow me to help with your 5th grade math assignment, I left with you.
60 is bigger than 15. In fact it is exactly 4x times bigger. So when the USA Electricity grid is powered by 60% fossil fuels, and only 15% solar and wind, it's only far that when the grid fails, fossil fuels should shoulders 4x times the blame.
BAHAHAHAHAHA!
Remember though, the real blame (like Texas 2021), in this 2026 winter storm, comes down to poor grid management, downed lines and insufficient preparedness, resulting in grid failure.
PS: By contrast, there was an abundance of wind generation as the storm rips through parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma.
You are correct, the 2026 blackouts in Texas were caused by poor grid management. ERCOT, which manages the grid, prioritized some residential and other areas over oil and gas fields, gas plants, and pipeline compressors. When electricity was shut off to the hydrocarbon producing, processing and transportation infrastructure, equipment froze up and couldn't be restarted. Gas pipeline and processing companies sounded the alarm, but ERCOT wouldn't listen. This isn't a mistake that will be repeated in Texas.
Because my flight was cancelled, and American Airline rebooked me on a flight four days out, I drove from DFW airport to Lubbock on the coldest day of the 2021 Texas deep freeze in a rental car. The route took me through the most prolific wind generating area in Texas. And the wind wasn't blowing. The windmills weren't turning.
