Monday- Jockies Majestic and Regal
Quick report.
Went to Jockeys for the members draw (2045 for 2100). My last visit during Ramadam was a disaster as it was full PRC, this time much better with a range of CIS, PRC and the usual bump into you African brigade. Mostly in the 4-6 range with several T42s and grannys to boot.
Much better atmosphere than recently, could this be because of the change of staff? Notably Carmen has resigned, she was a good waitress at first but after 3 years she had burnt out - wouldn't anyone. In addition to this my luck was in as I won the first prize in the draw - 1200dhms behind the bar, so it looks like I will be drinking in the Panorama for a few nights!
Buoyed by success Miss O and I decided to try the Music Room in the Majestic accross the road from the Panorama. Good venue but the owner (he also owns the York) is not allowing WG's in. Hence mostly males in the spacious bar and pool lounges. I spotted 3 girls but they were not actively marketing. Good band - Fillipino- but too heavy metal for my taste. Good venue for an early drink or somewhere to take a 'friend' if you don't want to use the usual haunts.
Took the STS home, parked it then got taxi to Regal at about 2245. Very quiet. SA Band absolutely f*c*in awful. Totally amateur, lead singer couldn't even remember words to several requested songs, if management are reading they have to go! M/F ratio 8/1 got busier after 2330. Nothing that took my eye and no old friends in sight so we left at about 0030.
Hidden-camera Documentary
Part 1 of a 2005 documentary about prostitution in Dubai. Follow the links to the other parts. I haven't watched it all yet, so cannot comment. I remember reading that one of the pimps featured in the documentary died in a "suspicious" car accident soon after the documentary was aired.
