International Budget Flights To And From Cebu-Mactan Airport
Introduced this year, Cebu Pacific Air offers direct flights between Singapore and Mactan-Cebu which then on-flies to Davao. The cost is just SGD$69 (US$47) for a near 4 hour flight. But the price excludes taxes, insurances and fuel surcharges which can more than double the cost, but still cheap!
This direct flight leaves the Budget terminal in Singapore just after midnight (daily except Mon and Fri) arriving Cebu about 4. 00am, a rather barren airport at that hour. The flight continues to Davao arriving at a more reasonable 6. 00am.
The direct flight from Cebu to Singapore leaves daily (ex Thu and Sun) at 7. 45pm arriving Singapore 11. 25pm and costing from 1, 999 pesos ($US47).
Cebu Pacific also has direct flights, five days a week, to and from Hong Kong from 1, 499 pesos.
In addition Cebu Pacific offers indirect international flights ex Manila or Clark to Bangkok, Guangzhou, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Shanghai, Singapore and Taipei, each for less than 1, 999 pesos –less than $US50 (but excluding taxes, insurances and fuel surcharges).
These are "budget" services. Do not expect the full business or first class treatment, but you can purchase your peanuts, noodles and drinks! I have found the services to be reliable and pleasantly informal. Tuesday to Thursday travel is often cheaper than other days.
Other budget airlines use other airports. Tiger Air flies daily to and from Singapore from Clark (alongside Angeles City). Air Asia flies to and from Malaysian cities Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur from Clark. Jet Star flies to and from Singapore from Manila’s Ninoy Aquino for as little as $US79.
Some promo special prices can be ridiculously low. Currently there is Tiger Air fare of $0. 00 for some flights between Singapore and Clark, plus tax/insurance/fuel surcharge of SGD$70!
