The best service, personalities, English speakers, and cost factor I have experienced in Thailand are street workers. I take many LT. I treat them with respect, take them to eat, etc. There are a few losers, but most are very nice and want to please.

Some need the money for gambling or some other costly addiction. When tey get their hands on money, many do not know what to do with money except to spend it because they have never learned to save. I can understand all that. But then there are those like the lady you mentioned with the car. Perhaps it is because the car is registered in the name of someone else, maybe a foreigner, and she cannot sell it.
I remember a bargirl that I picked up a few years ago who fell into the same mysterious category. She was not my first choice of the night as my first preference was a girl on a red flag day. I am one (only in Bangkok 40%) and therefore not on such a tight budget. I still work (even when in Thailand). Also have GF (and a backup spare one) in Thailand making mongering opportunities more limited. Many would perhaps be described as regular "tourists".
Maybe the forum should split into two threads:
"Thai Budget"
And.
"Thai Middle to Up-market"
People like Canyon and myself could gladly stay out of the Budget thread completely, I suspect.
This is the Bangkok thread, so automatically some-what more pricey. Budget people should be mostly heading to Pattaya or Phnom Penh I would have thought.
The forum needs diversity to suit all. So complaints about high priced experience are not warranted. I some-one goes with a girl for 1K, I don't complain. If someone else spends 10K in a day its not a problem to me.
Its all a trade off between quality, price and frequency. Plenty of guys on the forum still do not care if the girl is the cheapest possible or not.

Actually if you check my old reports (I'm not sure how to find them, but they may still be there), I used to get girls for 200-700 baht in Chinatown and some other freelancer places in Bangkok. I'm pretty sure it is still possible to get 500.

Yes, I do agree that the diversity is fine and good. There are just different venues. I think it might be useful to say to someone who pays a girl from [i]the same[/i] (or similar) venue much more than you just paid the week before - 'hey buddy, I think you overpaid or were cheated', but there's no sense in Poseidon customers and Chinatown freelancer customers carping at one another.
Also I admit I pay 1000 or 2000 more often than I do 500 nowadays. Alas, but we all get soft as we get older. ;)
