We're always the ones to blame

Then sometime in early 2008, there was an HIV scare that went around. I believe it started with a lady working in Travel. Rumor was that it was a foreigner that infected her. Or at least they were blamed. Regardless, overnight the scene dramatically changed. Ladies there would not even look at a bule. [/QUOTE]Bad bule! Bule bad! Yep, want a scapegoat, look for whitey. Skin colour of scapegoat may be subject to change without notice.
In 2009, at Bintang Mawar in Lokasari, I couldn't get any interest from mama or the girls. Till I spotted a girl I know from multiple venues and private visits. In the room, when asking why I was being ignored, she said Bule bring bombs. Ignore the bule, they go away, so do the bombings. There was a recent bombing, but it wasn't in Bali, or even remotely where a bule is likely to go. But yep, it was our fault. This is also the time when the only Bule I've ever seen in that area was in Stadium, and that was in the club only. I was in the area often.
I also asked her if locals used condoms. The answer? "Sometimes".
Considering there are only two venues and one area under discussion here, whilst other venues still active are ignored (even though gaining mention in very recent years), I'd expect Travel and Classic mania will die down one the reports start coming in of the ordinary experience. As these places were renowned for pre-covid. Not that anyone looks back far enough to note that. Guess you had to be there.
The lack of exploration outside of 1 square km of Jakarta, and two buildings there at that, will see Jakarta falls off the chatty forums due to having gone 'downhill'.
