Its about a 4 hour ride and worth it if one has the time..Best beaches in El Sal are near there (el cuco) and also your close to La Union. Some great Volcano's as well. There are 4 or 5 Clubs all within 3 miles of each other on Ave Roosevelt and there are a ton of girls in them.
I want to go and visit this beautiful city but it's too damn dangerous.

Zou Spa closed early during my last trip.

Could not find any on line presence for Kiss French. Would you recommend staying at a hotel near the airport or closer to either of Zou Spa or Kiss French if I'm doing just one nighter?

He has a lot more time that city than most of us. There are many places to go in SS and you should have a lot to do in one night / day.

After reading many posts here, it seems that SS is mostly and uniquely a daytime action area with venues like Kiss Fresh and Zou Spa and their rooms. Since they close by early evening, the only real places to see girls are at the strip clubs but we have to wait until their late closings in the middle of the night for any chance of action after the girls' shifts. So in a way, it seems that the daytime hours will be more fun than the nighttime ones here.

At all of the clubs except Insomnia (which has a four hour limit) they will stay with you all night and generally all morning too. The going rate is anywhere from $80-$150 depending on the time of night, your negotiating skills and the overall mood of the girls and club at the time.
If you do not want to pay that much than yes you will need to wait until the end of the night and make a side deal with the girls. Most will go for $50 or so.

One the way overpriced Quality Hotel Real and the other a by the hour place down the road. Called El Rancho something. All the action is in the city. Its a 35 minute taxi ride to the airport $25 each way.
Hit up Kiss Fresh or Zou Spa during the day than all of the strip clubs starting with the Famous Lips at night. You will have a blast and get the full experience as long as your not arriving and over nighting on a Sunday.

I am holding off going to San Salvador until the gang war has significantly subsided. What is the current situatiion.

The Exceptions are:
Lips, you can not take out but, you can get numbers and meet them after they close if you speak decent spanish. The issue is they close between 330-430 am.
Insomnia and The Best you will pay something ridiculous like $300 and you will only get four hours. At the Best you will only get one hour. The Best only caters to the upper class. I have been there a few times and sometimes my friend and I are the only patrons there for hours. There are girls there that are phenomenal but, the place is very high priced compared to most other countries and down right outrageous for El Salvador.
On the very low end there are some clubs like Playboy that you can take out with bar fine for around $50.00. Most of the time the quality is low. Every now and then you find a diamond in the rough.

What is the current situatiion.[/QUOTE]I actually like it when people are scared off by the perceived violence and the general opinion that El Salvador is the wild wild west with no laws and people going around shooting and robbing everyone. It keeps the masses of tourists away and prevents El Salvador from becoming Like Cancun, Cabo, or Costa Rica with higher prices and a glut of High End tourist traps.
Sure there is violence but, just like any other city in the world there are parts of the city you stay away from. Every large city in the world has bad areas and good areas. Just stay out of the bad areas and you are fine. El Salvador has some areas like La Gran Via, or Multiplaza which are very upscale and I feel extremely safe there.
The clubs also have very good security and most have locking doors that you have to be buzzed in. Most people see a Gringo, and treat you with respect and try and make you happy. Also, they tend to protect you and keep you safe. Again, there are exceptions but no more so than any where else.
The gangs are at war with each other. They do not target tourists or common citizens. I am not condoning the violence but everyone they target is affiliated with a gang, wouldn't give in to extortion, etc. They are not looking to randomly take out a tourist and, if you stay in the good areas you will never encounter a gang member.

Don't they have an earlier shift when some girls might finish work before midnight?
