IMO, you did not stiff them, they stiffed you. If you have the time and money to explore to, there are at least two super popular districts where the fancy restaurants have opened up. Those districts aren't easy to name, but one is in South Jakarta a bit to the west, the other is somewhere in between thamrin and Pacific place.

Very swanky parts of Jakarta that combine alluring with modern.
