ParkLane Hotel v Marriott, Waterfront and others
I notice on www.asairooms.com that Parklane Hotel's double rate is a reasonable A$96 even over Easter, yet Marriott for instance puts up its rates significantly to A$141 through this booking service. Have any gents stayed lately at any of the better hotels in Cebu (Marco Polo, Parklane, Waterfront (city version) and so on? Impressions re location and nearby shopping: I know from RTFF that all are GF, as expected. Is the standard of room maintenance satisfactory at all these hotels, and what about the buffet breakfasts' quality? And which buffer lunches or dinners do you particularly recommend or find poor value?
Mactan is Full of Reesorts and ALL are GF (Even Shangri La)
If you are loaded, Shangri La makes sense but it will be double your budget (about $200). For $100 your choices are limited to Costabella, Tambuli and Maribago BlueWater. I would opt for Maribago Blue Water. Book through asiatravel.com to get that rate.
Mactan caters mostly to Koreans and Japanese so prices are high. The diving is terrible and the beaches VERY mediocre. Other islands in the area offer much better value and better diving also. But none of them offer as robust a mongering scene or an international airport.
