Ravi
I doubt it. But stand outside the hotel, shout 'I want a massage' whilst waving 1000Bht, and you'll get knocked over in the rush.
I doubt it. But stand outside the hotel, shout 'I want a massage' whilst waving 1000Bht, and you'll get knocked over in the rush.
That is hilarious. Works on Soi 11 also.
Belated report on Jasmine Hotel: Soi BJ.
Stayed there for a week over new year 2011/12. All in all a very well run place. When checking in the staff were a bit gruff because I had been promised a discount by the management and had to prove it by showing the email. I guess its their best time of year income wise and every little bit counts. I forgive them for that. People must try it all the time.
Anyway, once that was taken care of I was paying 765 a night and paid upfront for a week. I was put in a room on the 3rd floor. I was not disturbed at all during my stay. Even on new years eve it was dead quiet. VERY good for that despite its proximity to walking street. And the new elevator they put in made it really easy to get up and down.
My room had no safe right there in the closet etc so I had to put my stuff in the one downstairs. While I was a bit worried to start with the hotel takes responsibility for that if something happens so I soon changed my tune.
If you stay there there are no phones in the rooms (mine had none) so you had to be conscious of your own security. No one calls up to see if the girl can leave etc. Speaking of which I had no problems at all during my stay. Every time the girl would pass over her I'd which was copied and returned to her after she left.
If you are of the Antipodean variety like me you can walk out the door of the hotel and onto walking street. Turn right and a few mins away is Roo bar. They serve breakfast and its cheap too. I also went to Apex Hotel and had their buffet thing. Not too bad.
I would stay at Jasmine Hotel again. For me its a 8/10. The only negatives being no phone in room and harder than expected bed.
I'm wondering if anyone here has checked out this budget guesthouse recently. It's Anna Jet Bar and Guesthouse. It's run by a lady named Anna, and her ex-husband named Peter Phillips. I'm wondering if they are honest, or rip-off artist. 500 baht rooms with big discount for monthly rental. I wouldn't mind bangin Anna, but I don't think she's available for fuckin.

Gents, bit of info on Sabai Resort. I stayed in the Ruan Thai Paradise part and while the pool etc is nice the rooms are a shambles. Not worth 2, 650 at all. Broken down, noisy aircon that's too small for the room size and the whole resort is way too far from the action at the other end of Patts. Would skip this one and go for something from Soi 10 up, maybe a street back from Beach Road next time.
Good luck!

Good luck!
I had same problem there. I switched to Page 10 hotel on Soi 10. Much better.
I switched to Page 10 hotel on Soi 10. Much better.
How goes the construction on Soi 10? Is there still a giant hole in the street just west of the Page 10 Hotel?
Also, were you bothered by the noise coming from the beer bars clustered at the southwest corner of Soi 10 and Second Road? When I stayed at the Page 10 Hotel in December there were two bands that were REALLY loud and they played until the wee hours of the morning. Despite the double sliding glass doors between my room and the balconies the racket was quite disturbing.
(Posted on 7/4/11) Roo Bar and Guesthouse. Most of the questioners here seem to be looking for high class accomodation and don't mind paying for it. I do not understand that mentality. If you agree with me and would like to stay in an adequate place right in the middle of Walikng Street than I suggest Roo Bar. It is only 500 baht per night, has good western food in the bar, free bottled water in the rooms, and plenty of English speaking people (although Australians can be hard to understand after they are drunk which they will often be) to talk to if you are a newbie and want pointers on where to go. The owners often hang out drinking at the bar too. There is no pool but who needs that when you have the beach?
On my next trip to Pats I may try staying on LK Metro to try that area out but for my first trip Roo Bar was an excellent choice.
Okay this Roo Bar and Guesthouse with 500 baht rooms is next to the P72 Hotel and Bar in the middle of Walking Street. They have weekly and monthly rates. It's run by 2 Australian guys named Bob and "Roundy."

Bunky
The hole is still there, but the hole on the other end near BR is covered up, the band and open bars are still there.
Okay, this is the best 500 baht room I have found so far in Pattaya. It's the Swiss Food Guesthouse Hotel. The standard room. It's across the street from Diamond Beach Hotel, and very close to Walking Street. I don't know if it's GF, or has a joiner fee, for female company. Not many rooms so might need to book in advance. We need a review of this place.

Okay, here's what appears to be a nice room on Walking Street for 590 baht. It's the "Walking Street Guest House." The website says they have hot water, but I don't see a shower room in the bathroom. Not sure how you take a shower in this place. We need a review on this place.

You can see the water heater unit on the wall in one of the smaller photos.
You have to be careful, though, as this means the floor is often very slick. More than one guy has met his maker slipping and hitting his head in a Thai bathroom! ;)
