Hmm, on the one hand free access to the forum from within China and the recent flow of info for newbies is recommendable - but on the other, doesn't anybody bother the risks of places being shutdown just because they are talked about to much and gather to much attention? that is a different thing than just bashing newbies just because they were reluctant to do their homework...
Just visited G18 and the place looked closed from outside (security guy with orange jacket sleeping next to the door). Waited some 30mins around the entrance, only one chinese guy walked in, came out 2mins later.
Decided to move to Sacrosa but when I got to the 5th floor some security guys were playing poker in the lobby and only one girl was behind the desk. A guy came to me, tried to say something but when I asked "closed today?" he confirmed "closed, sorry" and showed me out.
Didn't bother to try any other place and just hope this isn't permanent.
PS: I noticed the blue sign in the hotel elevator that police restricts access by "guests" to hotel rooms: a) they should register and b) leave before 23:00 - we'll see if they really enforce it.
Went to get a simple back massage with possible special ending which is not my normal forte and first time in Shanghai so did not know what to expect. Got the oil massage, and the upsell for special HJ ending for an additional 300. Then halfway into the "flight" she mentions I can touch her tits for an additional 300. Seemed a bit steep to pay around 200 for the massage, 300 for HJ and 300 just to touch the little bitties. Anyways the idea of getting a good massage with ending by an attractive girl seems like a great idea. The problem is that it's probably just a dream to get all 3 in one package. My masseuse was fairly attractive, but the massage is what would be expected by a HJ specialist, more of just softly touching and prodding.
OK, I've been lazy about posting so here is an attempt to make good.
Name: New Lucky Garden Sauna
Location: 1211 Yan'an West Road. Two buildings down from the Howard Johnson All Suites Shanghai. It's a big square building with no windows and a parking lot behind.
Cost: Asked 850 RMB for FS, but gave me a discount to 820. Beer was 10 RMB extra and I had to ask the somewhat clueless attendant for it.
Facilities: Very clean, excellent hot tub, sauna, comfy chairs, etc.
Girls: Had a lineup of about 10 in the massage room. Generally very attractive. Some young (19-24), some older (25-29). Varying breast sizes including some with large breasts. Chose a hot and friendly 22 year-old with large firm breast and slender build.
Treatment: Began with 45 minutes of excellent traditional Chinese massage. This girl really knew her stuff. Then left the room for a minute and returned to remove her clothes. She had great firm tits and a nice slender body. Then on to the sex. She had a good attitude, smiled, groaned a the right moments, but was not very skillful. For example she sucked my balls a little too hard and didn't notice I was getting softer as she progressed. Since I speak 0 Chinese I could not "train her." BJ was with condom. She was a little compulsive about wiping her hands with wet wipes, etc. It was a bit of a buzz kill. She would not kiss me (is that normal in China? This was first time here). Anyhow, I did manage to get my rocks off within the allotted 1.5 hours, but it wasn't the best sex every. The girl also spoke no English.
Conclusion: I liked the environment and the girls looked good. I might go again but would choose another girl, hoping to find one with more skill.

So, I pick up the phone and call the place. There was a lady answer the phone she told me that the place is closed for renovation. I asked how long it will close and she said she does not know. She ask me to call back tomorrow. I do not know what that means.
So, the lessen learned, RTF before to go.

Maybe it is coincidence but with the experiences we had in Bejing during the Olympics and right now I doubt this. The more we talk and give the impression we do not understand the warnings by the authorities the more we will suffer. Most of our preferrred places were open a long time but not anymore. Maybe that convinces the majority that the current info scarcity is not bad will, but just the right thing to do.
Most seniors living in China do stay away from the hobby or the known places, maybe they know a little more than newcomers? I can understand the frustrations but better go home horny than get caught in a raid, just my huble opinion!

All saunas are closed at the same time. Renovations and plumbing problems come and go. The renovations can take a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

I was in Shanghai earlier this month.
I am trying to avoid names of places due to LE.
I went to the hotel in Shanghai where they have sauna where you can get Red Rope service. I think you know the place right?
Was there on 12th May and was fully open.
