There is a big difference between living somewhere and just vacationing. My cousin moved to Pattaya and tried to live like a vacationer for the first two months. Soon he was low on cash due to partying every night and eating out every day. He also made a bad name for himself with all the girls because he would go to the same spots every night, sweet talk and run game on the girls, get them for free and / or get them spending money on him, then jump ship and move to the next girl. He ended up fucking one girl who was the security guy from from the club's girlfriend (who was the best friend of a girl he was already fucking for free). We had been to their place and all and he knew the guy but never realized they were a couple. I had to sit him down and tell him to slow his ass down and start looking and observing before leaping. All this shit is okay for a person visiting because they will be back home in a week or so and soon forgotten by the locals. But you definitely don't want your name to be mud if you have to stay somewhere on a long term basis.

The car took off but people who were around called for help. His helmet came off on impact. He had cracked ribs and other internal injuries and his face looked like he had gotten beat up with an ugly stick. He ended up moving back with his wife in Malaysia. She was footing his Thailand bill anyway as a condition of them moving from the States to Malaysia where she is from.

And actually it was a friend of hers who bought his ticket back to Malaysia then drove from Bangkok to Pattaya to pick him up and take him to the airport. Then his dumb ass was adding hookers to his facebook. I told him it was crazy. He said she couldn't see it. Well eventually she did see it and posted on his wall that he needed to take his ass back to the States or back to Thailand with his hoars (Don't know whether she really knew they were actual hoars or not though). But all is well now. His wife is well connected so he finally got an under-the-table job in Malaysia but still not adjusting too well to them not liking black people. His wife and son went looking for an apartment and one guy flat out told them that he would not rent to them because the baby is black. He works with computers and said one hotel would not even let him take some parts home to study them because they were afraid he would steal them.

One of the girls he found in the club was taking care of him after the accident. She had a regular job and would bring him food and beer everyday after work. She also paid the 1500 baht that he had to pay for damage to the rented motorbike. She told him to come stay in her place any time he is in Pattaya. That guy is lucky. He is known for finding some really good girls, but he is also known for always fucking it up.

Go to the drop down menu for Mileage Plus and choose "book with award miles." The default value is to display all Star Alliance flights. But you can choose to display only United flights if that's your preference. (Although I don't know why you would. Generally speaking the Star Alliance carriers are almost always better in every way.)

I've also read online reports that there might be an advantage to using the web sites of the Star Alliance carriers. I've never tried that, but there are some who swear by it. For more than you'd ever want to know about gaming the frequent flyer programs surf over to:

With regard to the flight schedules, not much you can do. Looks like the majority of trips are going to leave San Francisco at midday, connect somewhere in Asia, and arrive in Bangkok very late in the evening. You might be able to find a trip or two that leaves in the evening and arrives during daylight hours, but that's going to be the exception.

Believe it or not, I have seen a decrease in prices here over the past 5 years. Why? Competition and the economy.
