Tune Hotel Pattaya. Anybody ever stayed at the Tune Hotel? It looks modern although pretty basic, and a good price. But I'm slightly put off by a reference to 'towel rental' (WTF?) and that wi-fi is an extra charge.
Well, looks like rooms start at 700 baht, but watch out for this hotel as they charge extra for a lot of stuff. Rooms are clean and modern, but I don't know if GF, and if they charge a joiner fee. Sort of a new concept type hotel.
While I'm in Pattaya, I usually stay at the Welcome Plaza Hotel.
http://www.welcome.co.th/wplaza.htm
Great location (very near the Royal Garden and a few minutes walk from Beach Road, Walking Street, etc.) , nice swimming pool, excellent value for the money. The rooms are large and bright. The bathrooms are not too great, but correct. I don't like their breakfast buffet and I notify that I won't take the breakfast at this hotel when I make my reservations with them (they will apply a 50 baht discount on their room rates then if I am not mistaken).
IMPORTANT: Book your room with them (use the e-mail address mentioned on their website) or they may try to charge you a joiner fee when you come back with a guest at this hotel after the night has fallen (they don't check during the daytime).
Welcome Plaza Hotel seems to have nice rooms starting at 850 baht.
Sabai Lodge is a nice hotel on Soi 2. Nice pools for the afternoon. Girl friendly, balcany, good average room. The only problem is a little far from Walking Street.
Sabai Lodge seems to have nice rooms starting at 850 baht.

Keep it up!
Keep it up X. Factor! I've liked the reports on hotels in Pattaya and just ignore newbies with one post daring to criticise senior members. I'm sure there are other members who have appreciated your posts.
Oh please, give me a break. That's fine with me.
I disagree.
Xfactors doing us a favor with his summaries. Otherwise you would have to spend a few hours reading reviews like I did to find places to stay in. All hes doing is giving names and urls. So what if he hasn't stayed there. Who cares. Next time I go I will be able to look at this thread and have options.

To Hatguy and Manfield04, thanks guys. Xfactors is sitting in El Paso, and wishing to hell he was in Pattaya. :D

I Agree

He wasn't claiming to be an expert just throwing it out there for people to comment.

http://wikimapia.org/#lat=12.9466272&lon=100.8871508&z=17&l=0&m=b&v=8
The rooms at the Sabai Inn (50 feet away from Sabai Lodge) are much nicer than the cheapest rooms at Sabai Lodge, and you can use the pools at Sabai Lodge. If staying at Sabai Lodge, I'd avoid the cheapest rooms which are small, poorly appointed and poorly lit, and bump up 1-2 levels but again, I consider Sabai Inn to be the better value. As for the location of the Sabai places, the Baht buses make it a minor issue to get to and from Walking Street, from Soi 2 and closeness to the big C mall more than makes up for it, IMHO.

Roof Garden Inn is about 1 mile south of Walking Street, and seems to have VERY NICE rooms, with enclosed showers, starting at 500 baht. You could probably ride the 10 baht, baht bus to Walking Street. Looks like a pretty new hotel. 2 or 3 years old. It doesn't look like some dump. Website says no extra charge for a guest. Might be a charge for 2nd guest. Check with hotel.

For those that may not be aware, this site gives a street level view of Pattaya. Just move the little man around on the map, and you may be able to get a street level view of the hotel you are interested in.
Hatguy,
In 2009 I first visited Pattaya and planned to stay at a hotel the intrepid X-factors hasn't yet given us his expert opinion on. I booked and paid on line for ten nights. On arrival I didn't even check in or look at the room I'the booked. It was bad and I went and found another hotel. Did I get my money back? No.
So why did I book it? I read on a forum a remark from a member, with more than 1, 000 posts, this hotel met my requirements. When I fired back the hotel needed maintenance and the staff were rude the guy with more than 1, 000 posts thanked me for my update and explained he'the last stayed there in 2005. But at least he stayed which is more than can be said for X-factors and I'm looking forward to the day he sends out information about a hotel that has closed down.
BTW Hatguy I moved to Pattaya in 2010 and if you or any other members would like some real information about hotels in Pattaya then just ask.
When did he ever claim to be an expert. I think you need to chill out. The guy is just summarizing whats out there. Sheesh!
