Giving more than that would make you look like a newbie in my opinion. And tipping the staff should not be automatic, it's good to tip the ones that are nice with you, but many of them are real a**holes and deserve nothing at all, especially in places like Insomnia or Mixx (Pattaya).

There was about a 2-3 week period where the girl numbers increased but the men hadn't arrived yet. By mid-December, most bars were crowded to the point where you couldn't even find a seat.

For many gogo bars, other than high season, you can walk in and be the only or one of a few guys with many girls around. This is especially true at the LK Metro bars or some of the ones not on Walking Street itself.

The better thing to watch is to avoid gogo bars on Japanese national holidays. Droves of Japanese men come in for the long weekend to splash a ton of cash.

For me, the problem with early January is not so much the influx of guys, but rather, that a lot of the girls who have gone home for the holidays haven't returned yet. I'm worried more about the pool of available talent than the increased competition.

But (at least for me) it works better if I go find the girl that I like rather than wait for her to come to me.

Partly because I am kind of picky. I hate getting stuck with a girl I don't; like. It's much easier to bounce when you aren't' chained to a table and a bottle And partly, I guess, it's because I am impatient. As my friend Haven123 will attest to, I kind of like to grab my girls and get the hell out of there. 5555.

I've also had fun nights hanging with a girl I've already paired up with and our group of friends hanging out at the table with a few bottles. So it really depends on your mood what and you objectives.

Problem though is the airfare deals don't abound like they do for January thru mid April.

Enjoyed all three visits, but I like it much better in the summer. It was easier me to find girls I like in August. It's also way too hot in May.

Thailand has three seasons: Cooler season Nov to Feb, Hot dry season March to June, and wet season July to October.

I have been in Thailand plenty of times in May to June and not found it to be all that hot. Odd rain showers help things to cool off. March April should be hotter.

I have no clues as to why girls would be getting ready to leave Pattaya in May, as Breadman put it. I would have thought girls more likely to be missing in April and perhaps early May due to "Summer" hot season holidays in another province starting with the Songkran festival. Schools are closed during this period, so mothers likely to spend time with their kids.

Perhaps girls and tourists try to avoid the peak of the wet season in Pattaya, much that is likely to be somewhere from August to October, I would have thought, assuming its similar to Bangkok.

I never let seasons of Thailand put a dampener on my fun, unless I am going to beautiful beach resorts. East side of Thailand like Samui and Koh Chang will be at peak sea water colour beauty from February to April, most likely. Sea can be a bit discoloured earlier. West side is different. Phuket is already beautiful in December and January. It's good know about winds of the seasons as well for going to beach resorts, however very little info is available on web sites about the right time of year to visit Islands and beach resorts. They pretend it is good all year round. I once went to Raelie Beach Krabi, long ago, when it rained nearly non stop. That was mistake of wrong timing. No point to go there in wet season.

Is Pattaya on a real downer in the wet season? Uncle Volodya suggests August is quite O.K. for girls.

1) Hot.

2) Wet.

3) Hot and wet.

Which month (s) in general would you suggest to someone who is looking for the highest ratio of working girls compared to men who are competing on these girls?

[/QUOTE]I mostly visit LOS in March-April. It's hot and sunny, but I like it. Plenty of girls. A reasonable number of tourists - not too many. No problemos except I would advise avoiding LOS during Songkran for two reasons: its crazy time and a lot of girls do go home for the holiday. It is interesting to note that airfares to Macau, for example, rise significantly a couple days before Songkran and a couple of days after Songkran as everybody, the Thais included, try to get out of Dodge City before the holiday begins. The only good news is that hotel rates in BKK are very cheap during the festivities. I stayed at the Westin in a spacious deluxe room for $103/ night. The hotel is very nice and very close to the BTS, so I never got wet. 555.

Occasionally I get lucky and can indulge myself with a 2nd trip to Thailand and SE Asia in September-October. Yes, this is rainy season, but that does not mean it rains all the time. It usually rains hard for an hour or two every day, but then the sun comes out. The streets flood awful in BKK and Pattaya. I recommend bringing rubber galoshes (no seams) and an umbrella. 555! There are plenty of girls and they are always glad to make your acquaintance. What I like best is you can walk down Walking Street Pattaya at a normal pace because there are very few busloads of idiotic Asian tourists to get in your way. But when you drop into a popular Go Go its still rockin', so good times in Thailand during the wet season IMHO.

A couple of other points; Phuket and the major southern islands are still open for business and due to less tourists, there are real bargain rates available at the hotels. But on the smaller islands like Ko Chang for example, many hotels close down during rainy season so you might want to check on the local situation before your book anywhere besides BKK, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, or Phuket. In fact I would recommend skipping the beaches during the rainy season and stick with the mongering.

I also like to head over to Manila and down south to Jakarta during my annual and semiannual pilgrimages. Weather patterns are very different in these other destinations. In September-October for example, Manila is warm, sunny and windy. Typhoon season in in effect, but it rarely affects southern Luzon. Jakarta, on the otherhand, has basically the opposite weather seasons of BKK. In March-April Jakarta is cloudy and a little rainy. And you should avoid Jakarta during the month of Ramadan (May 26,2017 - June 25,2017) at all cost since most of the bars and bordellos are closed tight.

Yesterday my first time, first day in Pattaya and can I just say: I understand now completely why everyone goes mental about the Chinese (no sense of space, no sense of moving properly and not walking hard into you when you don't move) and the Russians (is Jomtien 'their space' where they stay? So many there around Mimosa). Moody and loud people.

Not that the euro's and American's and other Asians have the only right to be in Pattaya but at least they have better sense of just 'fitting in' and enjoy themselves in a good manner.

And why do Chinese parents see it as a fun activity to lead their 3-4-5-6-7 year old through Walking street? Even in Amsterdam parents wouldn't take their kids through until they are 13 or so.

Anyway that said: The first 2 hours coming from Bangkok I was thinking: How can anyone say this place (WS) is more fun then anything in BKK. But. As time went on I can see it good sides too and actually started to like it much better. I also feel the girls are way more down to earth and fun then in BKK and more relaxed overall. Easier to have a chat with without them wanting a new drink every 2 min. Went to a bar last night but forgot the name of it so if anyone can remind me of the name: It's somewhere in the middle. You turn left into a soy and it's then on your right side. I think the promo girls wear purple. As soon as you enter there's a huge bath with soap. Then a big dancing stage behind it. Anyone? The girls were super cheerful there.

One last thing: What's the deal with beach road. At 2 'central' points there's literally 50 or so very old gentlemen. All looking like retired Americans? English? Sitting around with each other. It's like a convention. Some look miserable and as if they been sitting there for 20+ years or so. But all fun has been taken out of them. Its like places back home where youngsters hang in the park except here it's all older ones. Interesting to witness.

Bars opened today At around 10/11 BTW. Some stayed 'dark' but 60% went open at that time at WS.

Tomorrow checking out Soi 6. Looking forward to it.
