They are plentiful in the provinces. Seems to be the supply chain fucks over the locals in every way. I am developing my diet but will have to use foodpanda a lot for basically simple things.
I think something's wrong with the filipinos, here mangoes grow on the side of the road, nobody's trees, when in season they are so ripe that they fall on the ground and just go bad, nobody but me eats them, the locals (the ones that can afford it) still buys them at 200-250 P per Kg at the market, the yellow variety. The free ones are orange and a bit smaller, but 10 times more sweet, juicy and full of flavor than the market variety. They don't eat lots of things that grow freely, and prefer to buy them in the market, my conclusion is that it is pure stupidity, especially when you're going to bed hungry because you don't have money. I been using Malunggay leaves in some dishes instead of spinach, can't tell the difference, also cassava roots instead of mashed potatoes, other things also. GF agrees with me, but cannot convince her family to do the same, she eats now raw veggies salads, and they look at her like she's crazy, because she eats them uncooked.
