I agree with Thor93. I´m not an LOS-expert but I was hooked up with a freebie in BKK once. It was my first trip to LOS and it was fun - all day and night long - until I was leaving back home.

I was just commenting on some people thinking that Bangkok isn't a place to pick up stunners anymore. You still can find them both on the non-P2P scene and down Soi Cowboy. I appreciate that everyone has their own tastes but I've never failed to see some decent chicks whether it be down Cowboy or in a local nightclub.

If your preference is no-strings-attached P4P, and you like the girls, more power to you. But, using this old argument that regular TGs are more expensive than P4P doesn't take into account several other more important factors for me, anyway:

a/ that P4P girls are at the bottom of the heap as far as looks go, when compared to what's available in the wider population.

b/ that years in the biz corrupts P4P girls and makes them generally less agreeable, and in many cases downright nasty, not to mention just not very Thai when compared to the far sweeter and good-natured regular TGs.

c/ that while it may be true that money can be a factor with all Thai women, the return on the investment is much more rewarding than it could ever be with the cash-and-carry nature of P4P.

Of course this is only my subjective opinion, but still based on years of experience in both camps.

Just came back from a business trip/vacation combo over Xmas in Bangkok. This was my first time to Thailand, and I relied on much of the information I picked up from this board. Thanks a lot, guys, for sharing! During my 4 days in BKK, I tried to make my experience as diverse as possible – that is, to try many venues and make my own mistakes. So, with all due below is my 2 cent contribution to the community.

Day 1 (Friday)

I arrived to the new Suvarnabhumi airport around 9 pm on a flight from Shanghai. The new Bangkok airport is now the largest in Asia and is pretty efficient, from what I could see. After proceeding fairly quickly through passport control and luggage pick-up, I headed straight to the Taxi at the ground floor. As you approach the start of the line, an English-speaking clerk takes the name of the hotel you are going to and writes it down in Thai for the driver. Without major traffic, it takes about 35 mins to get to Sukhumvit area from the airport. Guys, please ignore the touts that try to sell you a ride, or you’ll end up paying 3 to 5 times as much!

After checking into Ambassador hotel, went to Nana Plaza, just a short walk from the Hotel, as it was already pretty late (around midnight). Quickly walked by a few bars, and Rainbow 4 looked most promising. Other bars had just a handful of girls, some as little as two! I got the mandatory drink at Rainbow 4 and made a few approaches, but was rejected off bat by a nice looking Thai girl that had most clothes on among diverse crowd! Such a blow to one’s self esteem – I would like to think that’s not because I am ugly looking (I am in my late 30s, fit and not bold) but because the girls I approached were already engaged by their sugar daddies for the night (though this does not explain why they were still at the bar at this late hour). Who cares, anyway? I picked up an 8 looking girl who spoke some English, and we went to the hotel. Apparently, official 1 am bar closing time is not enforced at NEP, as when I was leaving around 2 am, some bars (including Rainbow 4) stayed open, albeit with fewer girls available on the floor. My second blow was coming up as I entered the Hotel lobby. When I was making my reservation at Ambassador, the management told me on the phone that “guests were allowed”. There was a caveat, though, as security set up trap near the elevators and made me pay 650B on the spot for bringing a guest into the room. They produced some laminated worn out piece of paper saying that they are authorized to collect 650B for “hotel guests” in cash. I tried to argue at first, as I didn’t take enough cash on me as this was totally unexpected, but in the end it became obvious there was no way around and my mood was spoiled anyway, so with my lady of the night covering the shortage, we proceeded to the room. The price we agreed on was 1500B for short time, and my experience was OK.

Day 2 (Saturday)

Following advice of one of the posts here, checked Beer Garden around 1 pm and it saw a few freelancers there – by looks single moms in their late 20s and 30s. Nothing really exciting. Went to a cruise along the canals on the western side of the Chao Phraya river – definitely worth it. BTW, if you are interested in tourist activities other than traditional mongering, try to avoid taking taxis ! You’ll be stuck in traffic any time of day and the driver will try his best to take advantage of you to bring you places you were not intending of going to, or taking a long detour on the way or bringing you to one of the shops so they could get a free tank of gasoline or something for bringing you there ! Much better way : take skytrain to Saphan Taksin (terminal) station and a special tourist boat from there. It cost 100B for all you can ride for a day with unlimited in and out priviledges and stops at 13 piers that cover most of the traditional “touristy” places.

Anyway, at around 7 at night, I went to Long Gun on Soy Cowboy and saw what is supposedly the most artistic and inventive show they put up that could be called “all things pussy”. A few “stars” perform tricks blowing all kind of things with their pussies, smoking cigarettes, shooting darts into balloons, blowing birthday candies, ets. Amusing, but not very arousing to my taste. But definitely worth seeing for the price of one soft drink (75B). Surprisingly, I saw a few female visitors there – either curious or trying to pick up the skill ? Later returned to NEP and after scouting a few bars, went to Cascade on the upper floor and was immediately isolated by a group of 3 girls putting my hands on their breasts and probing my crouch. I was trying to watch costume holiday show that apparently has been well choreographed and rehearsed, but one lady in the front was pretty aggressive and completely blocking my view. Two of them were trying to get me to barfine both of them and the third one fought them over by inserting my hand in all private parts and made a lot of fuss. I don’t know how they do it in Thailand – may be this one is an artwork of one of those Thai magic healers separating tissue with their bare hands – but whatever it is, could not believe my eyes (and other senses). I know, guys, admitting to this make one look like an idiot – as all obvious tell tale signs were there – aggressiveness, lowly voice, narrow hips, unusually big tits for a Thai woman, etc. but apparently I was doped ! If I were to testify in my defense, the only argument I could put forward in front of the court would have been that I was somewhat drunk and my little head ruled over the big one for a while - but what an experience. In the end, 900B ($27) is not a high price to pay for education. So in conclusion – ladyboys are very active at NEP – watch out – if a girl has big tits – (s)he may be a he ! This make me think how gender boundary is really blurred – what do you call travesties?

Day 3 (Sunday)

It was a Sunday, the day when, according to cabbies and people at the hotel, traffic was (supposed to be) minimal, so I decided to do some sightseeing during the day. I took skytrain to National Stadium and a taxi from there.

I found that, generally speaking, it’s a bad idea to engage into any conversation with a cabbie. Paradoxically, sometimes you can’t tell him the exact place you are going to, but rather have to come up with some well known tourist establishment within walking distance from where you need to go. And I don’t necessarily mean massage parlors that pay commissions to taxies to bring customers in that are then passed onto you. I told the driver to take me to the Chang Pho pier for a sightseeing cruise along the canals. On the way driver engaged me in conversation, asking what my plans were at the pier. I mentioned that I was going on a long boat cruise and added that I was meeting up with someone over there (that was a lie) to rule out any touting on his side. He got me to the pier, and pretty soon I realized I was in some forgotten place in Southern Bangkok that had nothing to do with Chang Pho near Wat Phra Kaeo. He brought me to his buddy’s house so that he could sell me a boat ride and get his kick-back. I was in unidentified place one on one with an elderly man who spoke no word in English. I ran back to the Taxi, as he was leaving, jumped in and pointed to the map. The driver was silent for a while and then said it will cost additional 200B to get to Chang Po as it was “far away”. Unfortunately, I have already paid him for the previous ride. I threatened to report him to Tourist Police if he didn’t take me where I told him to but this had no effect on him (or he pretended not to understand). I got out and could not get another taxi in that god forgotten place, so I hailed a Tuk Tuk. Another big mistake on my part. My Sunday outfit – white pants and blue shirt - was completely covered with soot in the first 2 minutes. The driver asked where I was from – and immediately shouted back – “a-a-h, Amer-r-rika !!!” in a tone of voice similar to a suicide bomber shouting his last words - “Allah Arba !!!”. He said he is going nowhere unless I stop by a shopping center called Manhattan where I just need to take a “lookie” for 10 or 15 minutes, no need to but anything - so that he can get a free tank of gas. I tried to protest, saying I was out of time, didn’t have money for shopping, etc. to no avail. The driver kept humming some tune and saying “Akey, Akey” with an assertive nodding of his head. At this point I was at a boiling temperature and weighing my options. I could have simply jumped off at an intersection when the guy was stopped, but I had no idea where I was on the map, so decided to keep going, hoping that Manhattan was close to a skytrain station or some other identifiable place where I could take public transportation and escape this nightmare. So finally the driver got me to some warehouse and said I had to go inside. I asked where the skytrain was. He pointed in some unidentified direction, and thankfully map came to the rescue, as I saw skytrain structure on the way and was able to find where I was. I gave him agreed upon sum - 40B - and went to the station which was about 10 min walking distance away. So I just spent around 100B and 2 hours of time and got nowhere. I guess again I should view 100B as an educational expense (non tax deductible ).

At night, noticed two freelancers sitting at a table facing the street at Landmark’s hotel café. They happened to be from Ukraine staying at BKK half a year at a time – I guess max allowed by their visas. Took one to the hotel, paid 650B  and had a reasonably good time. For a change, non-Thai girl felt much better for slightly higher price (she quoted $100 ST, I negotiated 2500B). The girls complained that business was slow because Americans and other foreigners are not allowed to stay in Thailand for longer that 90 days at a time. This is their theory, anyway, and it did not make complete sense to me, but I don’t know any better. Overall, the tourist population seemed not to be very large during my visit despite prime time season (Xmas). May be, understandably, we folks prefer to spend it with our families, not hookers in BKK!

Day 4 (Monday, Xmas day)

Again decided to take bike tour in the morning as this was Xmas day and I didn’t have much to do until midday. ABC amazing tours is operated by a Dutch guy by name Mike and is pretty good (although a bit overpriced – 1500B pp). He takes you to an island south of the city and places you would never have gone by youself. All in all, useful experience if you care. At night, decided to try Novotel disco, but at first was pointed to wrong Novotel (taxi brought me to Lotus, instead of Siam, so after wasting some time looking for a disco there, took skytrain to Siam), but the disco at Novotel Siam was closed until 9 pm, so went back to the Hotel and crushed. I guess I overestimated my stamina - a day under intense sun during the bike tour took its toll and unfortunately I never got to Novotel again during this trip.

Day 5 (Tuesday, Xmas hangover day)

Cupidy definitely went down – I was there on a Tuesday night and the place was essentially empty – about 20-25 girls on a sofa and in the fishbowl – and no customers (that is, except myself). The “meet and greet” guy spoke decent English and quoted me 5000 Baht for fishbowl girl and 10000 Baht for “superstars” on the sofa. I laughed silently and said that all I can spend is 2500 B and he replied that this was not possible. He also asked if I had any dollars – he said the price would have been lower if I paid in dollars which sounds strange – don’t they have free exchange for Thai and foreigners alike? I think this was just a trick on his part to probe how much money I was carrying. Anyway, I made up some excuse like going to the bathroom and fled. Next, I took taxi to Mona Lisa which is only ~1km away on Petchaburi road and was met by a soft-spoken nicely dressed guy. There were two fishbowls to the right of the entrance: a large one for “regulars” and a smaller one for “superstars” (in his own words). Frankly, I didn’t notice much difference between the two groups – 25-30 girls all together, some smiling, some bored watching their nails grow, all in 6-8 range. The manager said the price was 2500-3000 B, non-negotiable. I took my time choosing and apparently, they made a change to the fishbowl where there is a regular glass insert in between two panes of one way mirror – so the girls can actually see customer’s face, smile, wave and engage into eye contact rather that being treated simply a pieces of meat. Apparently, management thinks this improves overall business.

I chose a nice smiling girl (this proves the abovementioned point) and we proceeded to the room. The experience was good – even though this was my first time to a soapy massage place – so I have no reference point to compare to – I was surprised to find out that the lady I chose was 31 years old and had two children. She had no apparent birthmarks on her hips from what I could tell and looked 10 years younger her age ! I guess most of the girls in Mona Lisa are single moms trying to make ends meet, but apparently management takes good care of them, as they stay there for several years at a time (my girl worked there 2.5 years).

Can’t resist but point to a logistical problem : getting from Ambassador to Cupidy was anything but trivial ! Five or so taxis I tried to hail simply refused to go and later I understood the reason: Soi Sukhumvit 3 that goes from Sukhumvit Nana area to Petchaburi road is one way and was all stop-and-go traffic at around 6 pm on a Tuesday night. So I ended up walking for 1km or so risking to miss my flight that night and later was followed by one of the taxis I tried to hire, jumping in, going about 20m only to discover another one-way street packed with traffic ! Going back from Mona Lisa, as I was in a lot of rush to check out of my hotel and get to the airport by 10pm, I took Phetburi underground station to Sukhumvit and then Skytrain to Nana station from there. Amazingly, there is no connection between underground metro and Skytrain: you have to exit the underground station (which is near Soi Cowboy) first, cross Sukhumvit 21 on the surface and then enter Asoke Skytrain station. But this is still much much better and more reliable that taking a taxi !

All in all, didn’t quite executed on all the things I planned to during this visit, but hope to be back sometime!

It's called a joiner fee. Not all hotels charge this, but the Ambassador is one of them that does. There's a way around this. Book a double and include your "wife" on the reservation. The security guys at the elevator will not charge you, since you already paid for two. The double is alittle higher, but much less than the joiner fee and a lot less aggravation. You can take a chance and have the girl go to the 2nd floor elevator. You do lose the protection of the hotel, if she rips you off though.]

We all made a few of those in our first ventures to BKK, but you covered it all in 4-5 days. Quite an accomplishment! I'm glad you took the time to post, but I was wondering. If you read the threads carefully, you could have avoided so many of those mistakes.

So I ended up walking for 1km or so risking to miss my flight that night and later was followed by one of the taxis I tried to hire, jumping in, going about 20m only to discover another one-way street packed with traffic ! Going back from Mona Lisa, as I was in a lot of rush to check out of my hotel and get to the airport by 10pm, I took Phetburi underground station to Sukhumvit and then Skytrain to Nana station from there. Amazingly, there is no connection between underground metro and Skytrain: you have to exit the underground station (which is near Soi Cowboy) first, cross Sukhumvit 21 on the surface and then enter Asoke Skytrain station. But this is still much much better and more reliable that taking a taxi !

The freebie scene in Thailand is much different from other developed Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and also the less developed such as China.

If you hang around in Thailand long enough, I am sure you will find some nice normal ladies. The other hand, I find Japan is so great in freebie scenes simply 2 people who feel good together and like to have some excitement together. Japan can be the best freebie hunting in the entire deveoloped world. But of course the age, look, personality, language ability, ect can determine the success rates. I have a few comments and see both sides of this discussion.
1. P4P girls can be stunning, but they usually don't last that long before someone grabs them and takes them off the scene, unless they can't speak English, have kids to support, etc. which make make them a less desirable catch in some persons view (but not mine).
2. I like to have both. A girlfriend who is easy going and not putting pressure on. But also P4P for variety, sex on demand, etc. I have never managed to find a girlfriend that wanted sex play as much as myself. Nymphos aren't considered to make reliable girlfriends anyway.

Based on your comments, I assume you haven't had much experience with regular TGs.

I stand by my comment that women in P4P are generally not as beautiful as those in the general population. This is not to say that there aren't good-looking hookers. But, when you look at Thai women in general; on the skytrain, the students around MBK and Siam Square etc., you realize that the girls in P4P don't come close to them in terms of looks, not to mention demeanor, grace, charm etc. etc....

In my experience, Thai women (I mean normal ones, not in the P4P scene) are among the horniest, most sexually active women I've ever met. I've met very few who didn't like to have sex a lot and for a long time. I've met a few duds, it's true. But, I'd say that most of the ones I've been with loved sex a lot and were good at it.

I also disagree with you that stunners are difficult to get for "oldish blokes".
