That video is truly good.
Don't forget to give bonuspoints to Josechung and Ryjerrob as well. ;)
Yes please guys, don't be too hard on me. I really am a sensitive cat.
Besides, I retract the post, and will keep my writing style comments to myself ... I promise.
Hey, kinda like that congressman who yelled "liar" at Obama, and later apologized :)
Dude, just keep doing what you are doing, and how you do it. Your intentions are good and most importantly, your reports are accurate.
Your reports are about facts along with some helpful info. regardless of the city, country, culture and/or situation. I know my fair share of Medellin as well, and all of your reports and opinions/suggestions have been right on. So just keep doing what you are doing, including giving some constructive criticism.
Side note-I truly love and enjoy Medellin and its colombianas ( they are definitely a special breed), but my heart is in Brasil. I am glad you have been able to experience both plenty such as myself. And please don't hesitate to continue your reports in the same fashion. Ate logo!
Day 8
J and I had a Corcovado tour scheduled in the morning but it was so cloudy that we rescheduled it for the next day.
We didn't do a whole lot during the day, so we took a bus to Copacabana to eat at Amir Restaurant. Good Mediterranean food, especially their lamb chops.
Termas Solarium
After dinner, we took a bus from Copa to Solarium. We arrived at about 8p. I hit the showers and went to the boite. Considering how many times I have been to Solarium this week alone, I think Thursday night is peak night. There were about 25 guys and 50 girls crammed in that little boite. The blondie, Erica, that I've been trying to session with was not there yet again. So this time, I sat with another blonde named Melanie. Pretty girl - her face kind of reminds me of Bridget Wilson (Pete Sampras' wife). She's a good kisser and a very nice, playful girl. After about 30 minutes of getting to know each other in the boite, we tried to get a 40-minute cabine. She said because there were so many people, we had to wait another 20 minutes. So we went back to the boite and had another drink...
We finally got into the cabine after the 20-minute wait. The session was good - I'd say 8.25/10. Slow and intimate tempo, more on the love making side than wild sex. Afterwards, I got her number and will probably try to call her up this weekend.
Once I returned to the boite, my friend J was not around. He ended up sessioning with Suzanna - the stunning brunette with the fake tits that I had chatted with earlier in the week. He said she was good, but didn't kiss her or anything. He doesn't like to kiss these GDP's. J didn't really mention any other details except Suzanna had worked in Spain and made bank, something like 200 Euro an hour, and has a goal of doing 5 programas a day. Good luck to her in achieving those lofty goals.
We finally left Solarium at 11p. J and I each paid R$285 excluding drinks.
Shenanigan's
Tonight was the NFL season opener, so we needed to get our NFL fill. Seems like our options were JW Marriot, Mudbug's, or Shenanigan's. Since we were staying in Ipanema, Shenanigan's it was. Pretty cool little Irish bar - R$5 cover. Some very cute Brazilian waitresses there too. They were playing the US Open on 2 TV's and the Titans/Steelers game on the other 2 TV's. Surprisingly, I didn't see one Gringo tourist there - just some Europeans and Brazilians hanging out. After the game ended, we called it a night.
Day 9
J and I got up early to go on the Corcovado tour. The weather was better today, with the sun showing itself about 70% of the time. Of course, once we got up to Christ The Redeemer statue, it was mostly cloudy. Luckily, there was a small window where it cleared up and we got some decent photos.
Caesar Park
We headed to Posto 9 in front of Caesar Park at around 3p. Personally, I always thought GDP's hanging out in this area was an Urban Legend as I had never really seen any out here. That was until today. J and I got some beach chairs and happened to be sitting within an earshot of 3 Gringo tourists. One guy was chatting it up with a group of pudgy Irish girls situated next to us. They seemed pretty disinterested and it was entertaining to watch. Later 3 garotas come and situate themselves about 10 feet from us. One of them walks over to the group of 3 Gringos and introduces herself. I get up and throw away my drink and pass by the other two garotas, who say "Ola, tudo bom?". I just smiled and said "Sim, bom" and walked back to observe. Less than 5 minutes later, the GDP that was talking to the 3 Gringos gets up and walks off the beach holding hands with one of the Gringos. They headed across the street to his hotel or apartment. So now I am a believer, ie, I finally had witnessed some GDP action on this Posto, albeit these garotas were not much to look at. I'd say they were maybe 6.25/10 in looks. In retrospect, I should have talked to the other 2 garotas just to see what they think their market value is. I will be back on this beach on Sunday, so I will try to get a gauge of their asking prices if I happen to see some GDP's again.
Rio Scenarium
J and I took the 571 bus from Ipanema to Lapa, getting off right after the bus passes the Arcos Do Lapa (Arches of Lapa). We ate at a restaurant called Mangue Seco, which had good, inexpensive food with excellent service. The pastel de camaron, which is a crispy pastry dish filled with shrimp, was especially tasty, and highly recommended. After eating, we got into Rio Scenarium at around 10:30p. The line was short, about a 5-minute wait. It was busy tonight, but not as many gorgeous women as there were last Friday. We hung out till about midnight and paid the R$25 cover plus whatever for drinks, and took the 464 bus back to Ipanema. I felt like ordering in, so I went on Karla Model's website and it said 9a-12a. Weird, for some reason I thought they opened till like 2am. Oh well, I'm not a Help guy, so I called it a night.

Azn, very nice reports. You are obviously having a good time.
Did you mean in front of Caesar Park or in front of Posto 9? Quite different people hanging out at these two places. GPs in the Ipanema beach usually choose two work in front of Caesar Park. If they head to Posto 9 it's propably just for smoking pot.
BTW, don't miss a stroll in front of Posto 9. Lot's of beautiful babes. :D

Europeans are not gringos? ;)
Surprisingly, I didn't see one Gringo tourist there - just some Europeans and Brazilians hanging out.
In Brasil a gringo is anyone whose "brasilianess" is not established. Brasilians make no differences between europeans or north americans. For them even other south-americans are gringos. I often heard "gringo" being applied to argentinians, colombians or chilians.
Even africans are usually called gringos. Nonetheless asians are always called "chines" or "japas", wherever they come from, and arabs or persians "libanes". Which is really weird.
Brasilians are VERY unworldly-wise people. True burros I'd say.
I'm going to be 59 yo in a couple months. I've been going to the Dominican Republic recently to monger and haven't had any problem I am gray haired and over weight, but I do dress well and personable. I don't flash my cash nor do I present myself as a wealthy guy. I am thinking of taking the long flight from Chicago to Brazil solo. Before doing so, I need to have some kind of inner assurance I will be safe, ( I am an experienced traverler in hot spots), and I will be able to score without a jacked up price and without much difficulty only due to my age.

Reminds me of when the US presidential election was taking place and a friend of mine in Rio was swearing Obama was muslim and arab.

"True burro" is also the definition for a person who feels a strong hostility against a country and still keeps going there (or at least engaging himself in a forum doing nothing but criticizing the country).

Oh well, once more Mollah Sperto in his best role. Censor. The first to jump on anyone who dares offering about brasilians another perspective from the usual one of the friendly, smart, cultured, honest, trustworthy and sincere people, or dares risking himself to talk about the dark sides of Brasil.
So, according to you, brasilians ARE worldly-wise people ? ROFLMAO
Anyhow, yeah, I know pretty well this country, and post about it since the pre-ISG days, when Jackson revived the original Atta's WSG site. Nonetheless I admittedly don't see it through pink-tinted glasses. It's a country which is great for the libido and the ego, but is far from the paradise that the daydreamers and other blind believers promote. In any case, believe me, it's not the flames and the censures of a taliban-like obtuse, biggoted and obviously pretty stupid flag-waver like you that will prevent myself to post here.
You should broaden your horizons and travel a bit BTW. You don't seem more worldly-wise than your beloved brasilian people. I'm pretty sure that if I'd tell you about things like the fantastic ethnic mixes in Georgia or Uzbekistan or the physical features of Sundanese women in Indonesia I'd get the same stare than if I'd talk of quantic physics to my dog.
I highly suggest you read Bubba Boy's pdf from cover to cover!
Termas & Agency Outcall are a fixed price, learn some Portuguese and you will do just mine with the freelance GDP's.

Prosal -- Maybe you should stick to discussing topics you know something about, which would result in you not posting here or for that matter anywhere. You also might want to expand your reading list. For starters maybe try:
http://www.amazon.com/Quantum-Physics-Dummies-Math-Science/dp/0470381884/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1252769235&sr=8-1
Sperto certainly is capable of defending himself, but he shouldn't have to. He provides more useful information in one post than you have in all your posts combined. While I might not always agree with him, his choice of locations or women, he does inform.
Your sole purpose here seems to be in putting down Brazil and Brazilians. Like any country, there is good and there is bad. However, a little lesson in investing - if you had bet on the unworldly Brazilians starting say three years ago or even as recent as 3 months ago, you would have come out quite well.
I meant the GDP sightings were in front of Caesar Park which I thought was still part of Posto 9.
For some reason, I always thought Gringo meant "American" in Spanish. What I meant by Gringo in the context of my report was a person from the U.S., which is a bit too narrow in scope for the term I guess.

Hey..... probably got that from fox news which you can get on cable in brazil!!!!!

When I took my first trip to Brazil I was 55. I am now in my mid-60s and have been to Rio a total of 12 times, and I plan to keep coming back until I am drooling in my oatmeal in a nursing home. You should not be concerned about safety as long as you use common sense, just as I hope you would in any large city. Be conscious of your surroundings at all times; don't walk down dark streets alone at night; don't walk on the beach at night; don't get too drunk; never accept a drink from anyone else; don't show money in public; don't wear expensive jewelry or show expensive cameras in public. If you would normally carry your gear in a tote bag, don't; this will make you a target for a snatch and grab. Use a plastic bag from a supermarket instead. Better yet, wear cargo pants with a lot of pockets and put your camera and stuff in there. Use a money belt instead of a wallet. Carry a small amount of money in your pocket, say R50, to satisfy robbers in the unlikely event that you are robbed at gun or knife point. Not essential, but it's probably best to take taxis everywhere at night in Copa. None of these precautions is foolproof, but it should make the probability of your having a safe trip extremely high.
Regarding jacked up prices, your age should have absolutely nothing to do with that. GDPs think all gringos are rich, and they will try to play you for a sucker accordingly. RTFF and see what the going rates are, then don't pay more than that. If you can't reach an accommodation with a GDP, walk away. Never, ever pay in advance. If you bring a GDP back to your apartment or hotel, don't pay her until she is ready to leave. If she insists on being paid first, show her the door. If you frequent the termas you will never have to worry about this, because the prices are fixed.
So stop hesitating and book your trip. You'll have a great time.
