Can anyone recommend a few decent places to drink that don't charge ridiculous prices? (specifically for going out on dates with non p4p girls) And also away from lower Sukhumvit
I know quite a few girls enjoy Khao San Road, but I've only been there once

To the airport (BKK) from Pattaya it is 800 + 60 tolls, but into the city it does run 1200 + tolls.

It's near Soi Cowboy, but you'd never guess it from the interior. It's a traditional English pub. Lots of older tourists, families, etc. Reasonable drink prices from 4-8pm, but unreasonable food prices.
There are quite a few places to drink in a complex right next to Ratchathewi BTS station. Look East from the BTS and you'll see around 10 bars and restaurants. Again, a possibility for a date.
Or you could go to Silom road. There are a couple of Irish bars within a stones throw of the BTS. At O'Malley's, for instance, draft beer is 80 baht before 7pm.

I had a couple of good nights in BKK. Last night was a disaster. Met this guy from Sweden and we were shooting the shit. I see one and ask mama about her."Only Japanese." Damn! I finally see another hot spinner on the second floor and she gives me the eye so I motion her over for a drink. She finished her dance and get a lady drink, takes a sip and then says she's got another customer waiting. I tell her that I want to bar fine her but obviously he gets first crack and she walks away. Now we're talking 15 second exchange. She took one sip of her soda. I'm like "hell no." Call the mama over and hand her the LD tab and tell her the story, and suggest that the guy she went to visit pay for the drink. Well I guess the mama balls her out and when she's back on the floor she's giving me stink eye. Telling her friend the story. I find it amusing. Honey, I love ya, but you're still a hooker, and your opinion matters little.
On the way out I see a few hopefuls on the first floor but we decide to go down the street to Tilac for a drink. It's late and the girl selection has been bare fined already. So we head back to Baccara after one drink. I make eye contact with a girl (pm if you want her number) and motion her over for a drink. We're egtting along great and we agree on BF for LT and head out. Grab a little food and we're walking to my hotel. We get back, she's fun, we're taking pictures of her, non nude but she's posing and having fun. Well after the shower we get in bed and she whips out the rule book. I know, shoulda went over this at the bar but the language is a problem. Well, no kissing, no BJ, all she does is lay there and take a pounding. That's her experience as that's what the Japanese like. My eyes are not slanted. So I tell her to hit the road, I'll cut my losses at the bar fine. She counters with how about ST. I nix that. Anyway, I've been on the road for over 3 weeks with at least one a day and many days twice. I needed a break anyway.
Guys, and especially you Japanese guys, don't spoil these girls. Don't take shit from them. BKK is top dollar for SE Asia. Demand service for your money.

I would add that even though food at Black Swan is higher priced, it is excellent quality, the portions are much larger than average and the taste is excellent. You could easily share their fish and chips with another person unless you have a huge appetite. I consistently stop there every time I am in BKK. It is very conveniently located.

You could take her to Saxophone at Victory Monument. As suggested Thonglor has lots of good places where normal Thai's head for an evening out and some drinks. Many pubs and whiskey bars and the like on Thonglor itself. You could try Yes RnB Karaoke on Thonglor Soi 10. Fun place.
I had read that vans are a bit cramped but you mention that they are a bit better. Anyways as long as it dies not take more than 2 hours and 400 bahts I won't mind.
The bell hotel pick service seem to take at least 4 hours and costs a bit under 400 bahts. I also read that there may be sone cheaper taxi options that cost around 1000.

113 Baht one way. Personally I prefer this to the bus from Ekkami because 1. It is quicker 2. It is more comfortable, better seats and air-con. 3. They drive the length of beach road and you can jump out at any point, unlike the Ekkami bus which stops at the bus depot and you can sometimes wait up to 20 minutes for a baht bus to fill up which adds even more time to an already over extended journey.
