Sosua Reports

The changes in Sosua are real. They are trying to change Sosua as a destination for sex tourism to a family tourism destination. The authorities are systematically arresting and deporting the oowners of those best mongering places in Sosua and shutting those places down. Here are some accomplishment from the authorities from just a year. All the owners were charged / accused of promoting sex tourism and some also charged with proxenetismo (pimping) sexual exploitation and [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908][CodeWord908][/url].

In my opinion Sosua is dependent on monger money. Hotels, restaurants and services are dominated by monger dollars. Locals may come on Sundays for family Beach time but they spend very few pesos. However when politician are involved anything can happen. I know there are some upper class folk in the area who are offended BY having putas and mongers invading their town. At the end of the day we need each other.

At the end of the day we need each other.[/QUOTE]Of course mongering contributes to the economy of Sosua, but I think you are grossly underestimating the economic impact of the numerous foreign residents in the area with the foreign currency they bring in and the money they spend on goods and services, jobs provided in construction, and so on. It is not the mongering dollar that has drawn another large supermarket, La Pola, to the area to compete with Supermercado Playero, nor is it the mongering dollar that supports several private schools in the area, some of them charging as much as $400 per month.

Clearly the argument could be made that clearing up the festering sores of the sex industry would hugely enhance the desirability of the area for retirement or winter homes for Europeans and those Canadians and Americans who don't care too much for Florida, so that what was lost in mongering dollars would be well compensated for in the long run by attracting more residents and increasing real estate values in an area close to an international airport, fine beaches, pleasant weather and sea breezes all the year round.

Obviously, DR being a Catholic country is unwilling to follow the Pattaya business model, where the sex industry gets along just fine with the mongering and regular retirement community. Sosua is nothing special, and DR is not known as the safest or a very desirable place for retirement. For example, Panama, Ecuador and other countries have more to offer to retirees. Annual lists of places to retire come up, and I have not seen DR at the top. If Sosua closes down I personally, will never return to DR. There is so much more out there that is even more appealing. The mongering dollars will just move to other destinations. I just came back from St. Martin and may return there instead of going to Sosua next year. DR's loss will be some other country's gain. I wish the powers to be would take a more measured approach, rather than mowing down businesses. Just my two pesos worth.

If you can't say when it's closing then you can't say if it's closing. Saying THIS IS WHAT I HEAR is meaningless. I hear many things from many different people. That's why you should should never say what's going to happen in Sosua. Nobody knows what's going to happen. As always it could get worse or could get better. There are people fighting on both sides or else closing down would be easy and have already taken place. So I want to know only what is happenig now, because nobody has any certain info about the future.

Every time I agree with Frannie I have to look into a mirror to make sure it's me, but I do think things and Sosua have gotten a bit out of hand. Maybe I'm a little biased because I was initiated into this game with the "old Sosua". I remember a Sosua without hardcore guys and girls. I remember girls who did what you wanted, for how long you wanted, and for how much you wanted to pay. It was all about making your vacation memorable. They wanted a boyfriend, they wanted to introduce you to the family, they wanted to cook you a Domnican meal.

Sosua had couples walkng down the street holding hands or going to the beach. You would see couples eating breakfast at New gardens. Back then you could leave your girl in the room and go bar jumping on the strip and she was happy with the remote and air conditioner. Everyone was smiling and happy back then.

Back then the going rate was what you wanted to pay, now guys start the conversations with "how much?" Now girls say "cien or buy me a beer" before they give you their name. Now girls do two minute blow jobs and 15 minute fucks and beat you back to the starting one. Back then the girls were sweet now you are on the lookout for upcoming bs.

Not so crazy, stupid or ignorant as you might think.

They had planned to offer a cruise with port of call in Maimon, which will include shore excursions for the day or two (overnight stay of ship at port) and (catch this!) extended inland excursions in the country of several days with an option to return on either a scheduled ship for the port or air travel to their final destination.

Unlike stated in the article, passengers opting for that option must do so even before boarding the ship. They must arrange such things with the cruise sales agent.

This will be a depart from inland extended excursions that had either to be carried out prior to boarding the cruise ship or at the end of it, without an option to re-embark to another ship for return.

That's why this port complex is so ground breaking for the cruise line biz.

In order to circumvent policies in the USA That demand cruise passengers embark / return on the same port / ship as they took. The cruises aiming to offer such options will make use of Puerto Rico's own cruise policies. They do allow cruise ships to embark passengers in one port and end their trip at another port if elected.

The DR was selected to introduce this new format of cruise offerings, due to the diversity of options for travelers to select from. From staying a week in Ciudad Colonial and touring the oldest city in the new world, to river rafting, white sandy beaches in Punta Cana, etc.

In order to make this happen, the new four lane road from the new CN in Santiago to Puerto Plata will be taking shape.

A clean-up of Sosua / Puerto Plata is concurrent and undergoing.

As stated "passengers" travel plans for this must be done prior to embarking on the cruise. It will not be selective after the cruise ship departs on the trip and beyond. Unless the passenger decides to terminate their trip and catch the flight home of option, there will not be a catch the next ship on port to go home as described in the article.

If the hardcore monger take their money else where then maybe my Sosua will be back.

I was giving general information from people that live here in Sosua to the board because I was here in Sosua. There are a lot of us that would love to hear any news to what's going on. I know my information sounds frustrating. I was frustrated as well seeing everything changing myself. If it does not fit your entertainment do as I do with Fannie subject of discussions.
