USA needs reliable power that is economical
How is Germany, going back to coal, any different than what your MAGA Fuhrer is doing with coal?
Apparently you aren't aware, that your MAGA Fuhrer and his clown-show administration, is once again wasting taxpayer's money, and has spent $2.7 bn of taxpayer's money on its personal crusade against wind power, while pouring more than $1.125 bn into losing coal mining operations, that don't want to stay open, while pushing up Americans' energy bills ever higher. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jul/10/bills-trump-clean-energy-coal
His dumbass petty pet projects and personal crusades and using taxpayer's money to fund them, is what kills American innovation and prosperity. So much for those MAGA taking heads, that don't like government to tell us, what should be funded with their tax dollars.
USA needs a reliable power supply. A great amount of reliable power that is not attainable with wind and solar. Trump is obviously smarter than the European leaders that committed to the great green power supply. Now they have an unreliable expensive power supply. Only a fool would try to run a country with unreliable wind and solar. Only a fool would think that was an option. Europe is learning the hard way. Just as USA would have learned the hard way if Harris was president. We would have no AC this summer with a Harris presidency. China is building hundreds of coal fired power plants this year. Chinese aren't stupid either.
Editorial Comment from The Cmdr
I agree and well said!
I disagree and it was not well said.
The fact is, that while some people are telling others they don't think for themselves, just because they identify (at one time or another) with one political party or the other, is clearly IMHO a misstep and a "misread the room".
I don't know who the OP is talking about but I suggest that he reviews the title of this thread: American Politics. Under the Opinion and Editorials sub forum. That means that by definition fact are NOT required. The only people reading a room are individuals of a particular political party looking for votes or campaign contributions. I am neither. I don't give a (compound profanity redacted) what anybody thinks. I will continue to express my opinion.
It is just a huge and colossal mistake, IMHO, to always take a person's independent way of thinking, no matter what political, racial, ethnic or gender group they identify with, as "group think". But I'll let those that wish to wax lyrically ad nauseam, with regards to conflating political identity and an individual's thinking, is always in lock-step, continue to make that mistake.
What is funny is that the OP has nothing to do with it. Only The Administrator decides what content makes it to this forum. The OPs only option is to decide to read it and reply to it or not to read it.
While our independent way of thinking, may align with the beliefs, values and norms of our identity groups, for our own personal reasons, this by no means, prevent us from thinking DIFFERENTLY and expressing our own unique perspectives, outside of, so called group think.
If only this was true. I see no evidence of that.
Sure, sure, sure. Not voting for a Dem helps Repubs win to again and again produce historic economic downturns as they have for 100 years.
I am not interested in historical performance. Past performance does not insure future results.

SubCmdr, there's no need to keep restating the obvious about SWB, as I don't think Elvis 2008 is really that dense to the intermittent nature of SWB, is he? After all, you don't see the renewable community, restating the obvious about fossil fuels, telling the petrol-heads, at every turn in a debate, NOT TO FORGET and remember:
that fossil fuels are "one-and-done", you burn it and it's gone, up in the air, polluting our plant's atmosphere for 100's of years; AND

that each and every year, we need dig-up another 15 billion tonnes of the fossil fuel (the "3-headed hydra" of coal, oil, and natural gas), and have to pay for 100% for it, only to have use 1/3 of it as useful final energy, and again send 2/3 of it to pollute the atmosphere
If it is not obvious to Elvis 2008, by now (or other MAGA debating energy), I'm afraid there's no amount of documentation, that is going to help.
Europes energy grid cant keep up with the renewables boom. Which country will suffer the most?
Upgrading Europes insufficient grid is a matter of urgency for the continent's energy security.
Bottlenecks triggered by Europes outdated energy grid are putting more than 120 GW of anticipated renewables at risk.
Planned clean energy projects used to power millions of households in 20 EU countries could be stranded, a new report by energy think tank Ember warns.
The analysis found that one in every two grid operators has insufficient grid capacity to connect upcoming wind and solar projects to the grid including rooftop solar panels.
Experts have described barriers to rapid renewable rollout as a matter of urgency amid the war on Iran, which has seen oil and gas prices soar.
With power costs spiking, Europes grids are a crucial enabler in the race to install renewables to replace imported fossil fuels and protect households against volatile prices, says Elisabeth Cremona, an energy analyst at Ember.
Grid bottlenecks are no longer simply a technical issue. They are a security risk.

Are all politicians dumb or just Republicans?
Since when do you attack another country and the country you attacked plans an attack on your military targets is that terrorism? No, that is called, a counter attack.
The person who said that is an idiot. What is worse is that he could become the next POTUS. I look skyward for help.

I think you can count on at least one exception to that rule of thumb

Not really that funny. Unless you are laughing at the loser democrats for not having the ability to sell people on not having separate bathrooms for men and women.
That's probably what some voters told themselves after the Great Repub Crash of 1929, The Great Repub Depression and right before they cast a vote for Eisenhower.
Then there were the three Recessions under Eisenhower and one of the worst jobs creation records in presidential history.
Then there were the significant Recessions under Nixon / Ford and again one of the worst jobs creating records in presidential history.
Hell, I hadn't even paid proper attention to the Repubs' disastrous economic record of results vs Dems when I fooloshly and now shamefully voted for Reagan in 1980!
Then came Reagan's Great Repub Recession, his tripling of the National Debt, his transforming America from the World's Greatest Lender Nation into the World's Greatest Debtor Nation for the first time, his 8 years of only producing about as many jobs with all that spending and all that time as Carter and Biden each did in only 4 years and with far less relative deficit spending.
Then came the pathetic jobs creating GHW Bush, the historically disastrous on every metric GW Bush, the even more historically disastrous Trump and, waddayaknow, full circle from Trump back to The Great Repub Crash and Great Repub Recession Herbert Hoover with Trump finding a way to be the one and only so-called president since Herbert Hoover to leave office after 4 years having lost more jobs than were created!
And guess what else? Classic Repub Trump is exactly on track to leave office after two terms, 8 full years, having wiped out more private-sector jobs than his policies created, to the tune of more than a million net loss in those jobs, and all while adding Trillions and Trillions of dollars more to the deficit than any 3-4 other presidents combined!
Some past performance very much do predict future results. Repubs producing historic crap economic results over and over and over again is one of them. As predictable as night following day for about 100 years so far.
And I doubt where trannies pee was the one issue that the one demographic in the only three swing states that mattered swinging a fraction of a single percentage point of votes spread across those three swing states away from Harris and thereby giving Trump his squeaker of a razor-thin win in 2024.
Real Treason goes unchecked
There are many poster here quick to use the word treason without understanding the true meaning of it.
As Trump focuses the FBI on immigration, counterintelligence is falling behind.
FBI counterintelligence squads specialized units dedicated to tracking and ferreting out foreign spies have been hit with deep cuts across the country, even as the U.S. faces a growing array of adversaries intent on stealing the nation's secrets, according to five people familiar with the matter.
The staffing shortages are so significant that in many of the FBI's 56 field offices, counterintelligence squads only have 50% to 60% of positions filled. In multiple field offices, the number of squads doing such work has been reduced by half.
The cuts come as the U.S. is mired in a war with Iran, and as China a geopolitical strategic rival wages what American officials say is a relentless campaign to steal U.S. government secrets as well as cutting-edge research and technology. Russia also remains a formidable adversary with highly capable and aggressive intelligence services.
https://www.npr.org/2026/10/06/g-s1-145511/fbi-trump-counterintelligence-units-cuts
