Sosua Reports

What's the consensus out there? Is there a hidden jewel out there that I'm missing with cleaner rooms and friendlier staff, for 40 USD / night?[/QUOTE]It's all about your comfort level. Cracked tiles in the bathroom, poor wi fi, or not enough hot water can be very upsetting to some (read the reviews), but when you walk out of that airport into the summer breeze, you need to know that you'll be comfortable there, with the stuff and people around you that you canrelax with.

When you get bored, tired of fucking, whatever, you can walk up the street and check out the other places for next time.

That's how it works.

Think of hotels like chicas. We all have our favorites, but seldom agree on one. :)

The only two hotels I've used was the New Garden and as the last 4-5 trips, Casa Cayena. NG got to noisy for my taste. CC is off the main street and is quiet.

If you stay at the SB, please write about the place so others will know.

I think I have gotten close to it. We've been through all sorts of life and death experiences topgether, all over the island with family and friends, so that when we're together anywhere, we are in sync. In a crowd of friends, family (her family and mine, we've done it all) or strangers, one look or raised eyebrow or a half smile says it all.

We don't need to talk.

If we got together permanently, I would feel responsible for keeping that smile on her face, but at my age I need to be a little selfish.

Was in DR and have a GF there now. She has a big thing for trying to get me to be Dominican. I've been to Colombia a few times and have two friends how married through cupido. Both are still married and doing well, but they also have a good job and are great guys. But if their finances take a dive, I can see maybe a change happen slowly.

Need some information of tacking the bus from Boca Chica / Santo Domingo to Sosua. I know metro runs directly into Sosua where do I pick it up at in Boca / Santo Domingo.

I think SB is a rip off compared to Europa. I did SB back to back in June and July. I have stayed Don A, Casa Angela 1 &2. NG, and placed my friends in different hotels in the area. I like the location to the strip, however, I wouldn't give SB $25 to stay there again.

The bus at the park goes to the main depo in SD for like 50 pesos. Then it's 150-200 pesos for a cab to metro. Metro leaves at 7 am, 11 am, and 4 pm. The metro that leaves at 1 pm stops at Puerto Plata.

Carib tours is 150 pesos cab ride from metro. Carib tours leave every hour at the top of the hour and is the same 380 pesos to ride to Sosua. From the Carib tours station in Charmicos outside of Sosua the cab care is 150-200 pesos. The metro stops at the top of the hill by the highway.

Take a jacket because the bus us very cold. Also try to catch one of the early buses and get there early. The 4 pm from SD to Sosua on metro sells out quick. One time it sold out on me and I had to hop a cab over to Carib tours. Also SD traffic can be hell.

I have the option delta voucher that I can use to go to DM. Delta doesn't fly to Puerto Plata. I can fly to either Santo Domingo and Santiago.

I have heard that the trip from Santiago to Sosua go through mountains. How about is the trip from Santo Domingo to Sosua then? Do you still.

Have to go through the same mountains?

Can someone also recommend me a taxi driver in Sosua. I speak almost no Spanish.

[/QUOTE]Unclear post. Are you keen to experience the mountains for scenic reasons or keen to avoid them for safety reasons?

Either way, nothing to get excited about. They are not really mountains, just hill country. Evidently you are not renting an auto so you can let the bus or taxi driver worrry about the mountains. There is one possible route from Santiago to Sosua via Yasica which does go through the hills and is quite scenic but it can be quite a tricky drive in or after bad weather. If you want to avoid that, tell your driver to take the main highway via Navarrete and Imbert. This is the road the buses use.

Coming from SD there is a new toll road which only uses the flatlands. It is a much longer trip.

They will send a Spanish speaking driver or a girl who speaks Spanish along with the driver. Cost is $100 U$ dollars. You can even pay using Paypal. They will be at the airport holding your name plate when you arrive. From Santiago the trip in a Cab is about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Santiago is about 75 miles from Sosua. Santo Domingo is a lot further.

I fly into STI to save money and it also gives me time to freelance while I catch the bus from STI to Sosua. Outside of Sosua you can pickup girls looking for a fun time. Frannie said it was 20 dollars from STI to the metro bus station in Santiago, then 380 pesos for the bus ride to Sosua. So you save 70 usd each way by not paying the 100 usd cab fare.

Girls know that if you are a foreign single traveler on the bus going to the north coast, you are probably going for p4 p. The girls try to get the jump on the completion by making an early play while riding the bus. One time I had this older lady about 40 cuddle up to me and take a nap on my shoulder as I felt her leg up, wild shit always happen on the bus fellas.

But to each his own and safe travels.

I use the buses all the time. It saves so much money and is a pleasant way to travel. Yes you can meet chicas on the bus. I had a wing man who was offered a blow job on an almost empty bus. No local would ever consider using a cab.
