When I go on a 'gogo crawl' I like to check out half a dozen bars in one night and then return to my favourite at about 10/11pm where hopefully my favourite girl is still there (last year in Angeles, Philippines, I must have visited 30 bars in a week). The same bars get mentioned a lot on this thread so it's good to hear new recommendations. I will definitely try Mercury and Billboard in addition to Rainbow4, Baccara etc. I will also use the tried and trusted method of walking around and seeing which 'hello girls' take my fancy.

You mentioned timing in your reply. If I'm in 'early bird' mode (for example trying to bar-fine a girl I wasn't able to speak to the night before) I assume the time to arrive is 7pm? Also what time do the majority close? It was 2am on my last visit but I read one report in which someone said that some of the bars stay open until 2. 30am. It's quite useful to know in case I want a couple of 'short times' in one night.

I was half expecting a knee jerk reaction as meted out to Kolkata King's query but thankfully its not.

With your report its clear that 3000 baht may not be enough.

I now think it would be better if I stay in Marriott since being a gold member I will have free breakfast and internet and I can use some of my points for few free days there.

I see many people crib that people ask question without reading FRs, I read almost 15 pages of different threads but most posts are wasted by shouting at each other and really useful info is hard to come by.

For people who also have their business obligations and can't spend whole day on ISG it becomes almost impractical to read all the FRs.

I hope the people who crib will be more understanding to new comers like us hence forth.

I am gold member of Marriott, but do not go to the JWM in Soi2, for instance as it is not worth, even if breakfast is included and even if you get points. If you can score some nights redeeming you rpoints it make sense as the total stay will cost you much less.

But seen the 4+ star hotel prices in BKK you get a similar quality for at least 30/40% lower price. I am not talking about ratholes sa I am not a cheap charlie checling the 100's bahts

In all three venues, you will be with the girl one on one. In the Soapies and Oily's, you will be in a private room. At the G-Clubs, you will be seated with the girl. Just ask for their number. In a G-Club, be discrete, since you are in the open. You do not want to get the girl in trouble. If you get their number, you're in. If not, you know to move on. In the old days I kept a pen and paper in my pants pocket. Now you can just use your smart phone. The only problem would be in places like Akane, where they put your belongings in a locker.

I like to do the "gogo crawl" too. Even the small gogo's have the occasional surprise, and you avoid the crowds. I like Rainbow4 and Baccara for what they are. I have taken my share of girls from those gogo's. I will be checking out Billboard too. I have not been in that bar. The start and closing times have changed over the many years. I remember Nana closing at midnight, after one crack down period maybe 5 or more years ago. I hear the Nana and Soi Cowboy bars are now staying open till 2am to 2:30am. 7pm would be early. I do not usually hit the gogo's till later. I have passed on a few girls before, since it was "too early" and I wanted to window shop and enjoy a few beers. I have also kicked myself later, on some of those decisions. I think one of the locals need to chime in to confirm. I was an annual visitor for many years, but I will be returning soon after a few years away, and some things have changed. I read somewhere that Nana and Soi Cowboy are under two different police districts, which determines the enforcement of what the bars can do and what time they need to close. Politics always has a way of creeping into our lives.

If you like her, get her cellphone number. The girls are always willing to hand over their number and then it's easy to arrange day-time meets. Girls are eager to do it becase it means more money for them without the bar / MP getting their cut and it also means cheaper prices for you too. However, the management won't approve of their girls freelancing, so discretion is key. Only get their number when you are 1-to-1 with the girl. Don't ask in front of management because it could get the girl in to trouble.

I have got the numbers of girls from massage parlours such as Nataree and Annies in Bangkok, Sayuri in Chiang Mai and Cristins in Phuket, then arranged to meet during the day at freelance prices. In fact I was so taken by a girl from another massage parlour, I asked her whether she could stay with me all night. She explained that she finished work at 11pm but all girls had to be back in their rooms by 2am. However, we met outside the MP at 11pm and she was accompanied by a man in a guards uniform. She suggested I slip him some baht and he would turn a blind eye to her not returning for curfew and she spent the night with me.

For example on my last trip to Philippines I tried to visit every bar on Fields Avenue and although the massive gogo bars (I. E Atlantis) had some real honeys in amongst the 70 or 80 girls onstage, you could find equally pretty girls in the small, intimate bars for half of the price (3000 pesos v 1700 pesos). I love 'gogo crawls' because the thrill is in the chase and there are always gems to be found if you're patient. The secret is to try not to drink too much Singha otherwise it impairs judgment!

Any more recommendations of 'must visit' bars in Soi Cowboy / Nana Plaza?

Thanks to those who commented on my question about getting the girls from MPs to one's hotel.

As for bar crawling, here is a strategy that one of my friends shared with me. Hope it's helpful and any comments are welcome:

The strategy is as follows:

1. Don't sit in any bar. Just go in, say to those who want to sit you down that you're looking for your friends and get out after 2 minutes.

2. How do you spend the 2 minutes that you're in the bar. Check the girls very carefully and note if any hotties are there.

3. Once you complete the circle of few bars and remember where most of the hotties are. Return to that bar and take a table this time. After one drink only (one can't just barfine without a drink, it seems). Barfine the girl out.

4. If you want 2 girls, go with the chosen girl to another bar with the 2nd best hottie that you spotted earlier, and repeat #3.

5. Do all of the above relatively early, perhaps 8-9 pm, when the girls are fresh and places are not mobbed to a degree that one can't examine the territory quickly.

The above assumes that one knows exactly what he's looking for, keeps an eye on the "ball" and doesn't have to sit and get wasted.

Best time I think is 9pm or shortly after though it's possible some may already be barfined by then. By timing I meant more that girls come and go in gogo bars very quickly either moving on to another place or quitting, or they go back home to Issan for a lengthy vacation or it is their day off or they have been barfined already. So you can go into a gogo where you had seen a number of hotties a week before and none of them are working that night. Happens all the time. And one of the Universal Laws of Gogo's is that if there is one girl you are especially looking for the chances that she will be there that night is strangely small. I have no idea why. Also Gogo bars can go from great to crap in a very short time due to bad management or some blow-up with the girls or a mamasan who leaves and takes a lot of the girls with her. Keeping talent in the gogos is not easy and is why places like RB4 are held in such high esteem.

In Nana these days gogos are open till 2am or 2:30 but you really should not wait too late to make your decision because by 11pm a high pct of the better looking girls will be barfined. Though of course some may be back for seconds. Or thirds.

Does open the G Clubs? Or something else for the lonely Gentlemen?
