I watched a segment on This is life with Lisa Ling on CNN. It was about legal brothels in Nevada. A woman was denied a licence to be a prostitute in one of the counties because she was behind on child support.
For me that is the best example of government regulation to the point of nonsense within the US.

If a male is behind on child support then neither is he allowed to obtain a license or passport. It is only right for the same thing to apply to a female.

I usually have mad respect for your views but not this time. This is an example of severe government overreach into the lives of average Americans and furthermore is a most highly illogical regulation that is unfortunately becoming more and more pervasive throughout the US.
In this particular case, the government is denying her the most basic and fundamental right in the US. The right to work! They are denying her the opportunity to have a occupational licence to earn the money she could use to pay child support. Furthermore, since the government knows that a bunch of horny mother fuckers are going to be paying her a lot of money for her sexual services, the government has the opportunity to contact the organization where she is going to be earning the money and require them to withhold the amount they deem necessary.
For the sake of argument, I'll overlook the fact that the only attempt to open a male brothel failed, therefore making this a unique situation only being applied to women. Please provide an example to support your premise that this simply an example of the law being applied evenly across the gender line. Give me an example where a man is denied the opportunity to earn money or denied a occupational licence because he behind on child support. It should also be noted that this is a law specific to a county within Nevada. But, if you wish you can provide an example anywhere within the State of Nevada or any other State within the US simply to illustrate the general premise of your statement.
I yield the floor to Mr. E.

That is exactly what this person is doing. The case is not closed. Only the mind of the writer.
His so called "decent" Dominican friends are the ones with the money, power and influence to make a profound impact on the social conditions, laws and behaviors that he writes about. Yet they, just like him have chosen instead simply to reap the benefits of operating in the upper class while looking down at those who are struggling within the country where they live the good life.
During my time living here I have found that attitude to be pervasive to an extreme with those that have money. In my opinion, most of the people with money here have those attitudes (as do many of the rich around the world I might add). This is not just my opinion, but is an opinion that has been expressed to me by other Dominicans that I am in contact with. This particular writer is equating decency (having money) with a set of social norms that he has observed, defines and has decided to live by. He loses complete credibility with me by saying my friends and I fuck around but we don't do it with known prostitutes, in known prostitute towns while drinking also. OK. Now, how does that make the writer better than the average sexual tourist? Is it a double standard? I'll leave that as and exercise for the reader.
The attitude the writer illustrates to me a near sociopaths lack of caring for those who live as Mr. Frannie pointed out: "Of course a lot of things are cheaper in the DR, but consumer goods are not, medicines are not, gasoline is not, cooking gas is not, nutrients like milk powder for babies are not. Few people in the DR have air conditioning in their homes in the stifling heat, and even if they have electric fans to sleep at night, the power often goes out. When people cook with gas in their kitchens, the heat and humidity of the whole apartment becomes unbearable".
The writer does not need a lecture. The writer needs a surgical consult for a heart transplant.

Inherit the money, cash in some investments, steal it, win the lottery?
Right, but it makes no sense to deprive either men or women of occupational licenses, otherwise how are they going to pay the arrears of child support? Inherit the money, cash in some investments, steal it, win the lottery?
But it makes sense for them to deprive their child? Were they paying or attempting to pay the shit before they needed the license? More than likely not. Because if they were then the shit would not have gone that far. It takes a while for the arrears to hit the system to the effect that you are not able to obtain or keep your license. The shit is not overnight. There is no late today, no license tomorrow. It is more ain't paid in a few months, 3 or 4 warning letters, bye bye license. So it is their own damn fault.
I was not arguing whether the law should exist or not. I was saying that since the law does exist, it is nice to know that they are applying it to everyone and not just one gender, one race, or one economic group.
My problem with the post is that it popped up after a woman could not get a license for fucking. What about all the guys that couldn't get whatever type of license before this? That law did not start this year, so why get up in arms all of a sudden?
My cousin has been behind on child support in Georgia for years. When they finally cut his license and passport off 2 years ago, he was living overseas in Malaysia where his wife is from. He went to the embassy to get more visa pages and they revoked his passport.
Fast forward to August 8 this year. I took him down to the court because he was making arrangements to get his shit together. It is a good thing that I went with him. We were about to leave and I said did you ask him about getting your license back? He had forgotten. So he went back to the guy and asked about his license and passport. The guy gave him a paper to fill out so he could get his license back, but told him that they will not let you get another passport until you are current on your child support.
So there. It is not a big deal. If you have made arrangements to take care of your debt then you will have no problem getting the license. But if you just say fuck it I am not worried about paying that shit then hey. Know the law and how it works before you start crying foul.
Right, but it makes no sense to deprive either men or women of occupational licenses, otherwise how are they going to pay the arrears of child support? Inherit the money, cash in some investments, steal it, win the lottery?
In this particular case you are right Mr. Frannie. By his own admission Mr. E has failed to address if is good law or not. In the example given by Mr. E, he has also failed to address if it was a occupational license that was denied due to child support arrears. So, Mr. E has essentially provided a non answer and failed to address the point of the original post, one that I might add, you understood completely.
Understanding the law and equal application of the law was never the issue. This is another example of paradigm and grandstanding taking precedent over actual discussion of the issue at hand.

Full Disclosure: Last time I used him he had a late model mini van with air conditioning. I get nothing from this recommendation. I will not receive any kickbacks, free rides or special consideration of any type. We have worked together since I moved to the island over two years ago. He is not the cheapest but I have found him to be reliable. If you have further questions hit me on the back channel.
I meant to say rarely "charted" territory, not "unchartered" territory.
Professor Wrx2005,
If they were exploring by sea, they would be using charts. If they were exploring by air, they would be using charts. But if they were exploring by land they would be using maps. So when were you in a hurry? When you wrote your first post or in the one where you were responding to me? You acknowledged your error. But you didn't seem to be able to get that part right in either post.
Unlike you, I don't need to offer "olive branches" as this is not war. Unlike you, I was not looking for some "golden opportunity" (unless it involves pussy) as this is not a debate club (at least not for me). And unlike you, I am not interested in making sure everything written here is perfect. Furthermore, I don't have to communicate in a way that you find most effective or pleasing (or anyone else for that matter). It's unfortunate that as grown men writing about grown up things I have to address issues like this. But sometimes when people "go rogue" it's necessary.
"And I make that pussy tap out, I knock that pussy out cold. Nigga you get beat the crap out but that's just how the dice roll. These hoes want that hose pipe, so I give all these hoes pipe. She get on that dick and stay on, all night like porch lights" - "Rich as Fuck", Little Wayne.
Last night I was not proofreading my posts looking for errors of word uses in case WRX finds them. No, my time is too important for that. I was out on the town with a lovely non-pro chica. It was her birthday and we had great time. We had dinner on the water and drinks and snacks on rich side of town. Those who fly first class, have ocean view apartments, and gran jefe mobiles can do that sort of thing and not worry about how it affects the budget. (or greater social interactions between men and women for that matter). And when we were back at HER apartment, trust me when I say that golden opportunity was not missed nor did I fuck it up. Actually that's a lie. I fucked it up, down, left, right, on the floor, bed, standing against the wall and bent over the kitchen cabinet in the morning.
Can somebody please call 911? I think she broke my dick!
Thank you for the opportunity to address why (as the moderator) I deleted most of our exchange. I didn't delete our entire exchange. Only the parts where you failed to add any useful information. I left the posts where you actually made a contribution to the objectives of the forum here. You are not in the position to know what is within anyone else's mind. Yet you state what I'm going to do, when I am going to do it and why. Have you actually read anything in my forum other than your own work? I can find any number of exchanges within my forum that have not gone "to my satisfaction" but they are still there. Since you are speaking for the people for the forum now: Why have they stopped engaging me in one on one discourse? And since they have exactly what does that say?
Now before you answer, please note that I don't give a fuck why. If someone, anyone, even if only one person reads something in my forum that helps them enjoy their time on the island better then I'm happy. I don't need anyone to tell me it helped them. I don't need anybody to reply to me. I don't need to make a bunch of posts that don't contain any useful information order to run up my post count. As for the forum being dead my man that's your interpretation. The forum is focused. The focus of my forum is contained in the name. Since most who live on the island or come to the island don't focus on the things I do why would they post in my forum. Prostitutes are very popular here. The Sosua forum is very active. But even with all that activity it contains very little useful information as of late. I do not judge the quality of my discourse in volumes of words used or post count.
I'm glad you think I'm special, but I wonder how you know this as you have never even met me. Oh, BTW I enjoyed our PM exchange also. Resolved or unresolved, it was not a problem for me (think my tennis analogy). Feel free to publish them similar to Mr. E if you would like. Take a moment and actually read the other forums on ISG. The lack of civility (bordering on sociopathic behavior) does not occur on other forums. It's a unique aspect driven by the cast of critics that populate the Dominican Republic forum. They don't count. I'm a man in the arena!
Mr. Oakie said it best and he has it right!
Folks on this forum are so adversarial now I think it is more about ego than sharing actual experiences. It is basically a pissing match with some posters who will adopt any opinion, no matter how inconsistent, to deride others who are perceived to be a threat to their ego, street cred, rep, their worldview, whatever.
With these would be moderators on the prowl, checking everything from your grammar, language, to the price you pay, and even the propina you give a local, (not necessary they whine, because you could be "spoiling the monger market", with your generosity, reminding you of their "monger's code"
Reference made to the following post:
Some folks can't handle or admit being wrong or shown their errors, successfully. He deleted an entire exchange between him and I for that reason. Not because it didn't meet the objective of the forum. And it wasn't like it was in Sosua Reports, it was in his personally moderated forum. Further, he is the one who copies information from another forum to address you in his. So if there was a problem with anybodies post/focus not meeting his objective, he shouldn't have copied their post from another forum to address them in his?
Now if the exchange doesn't go according to his satisfaction, chances are the entire exchange will be deleted anyway. Because he cannot delete your exchange in this forum, the damage control effort is gonna be unrelenting. So have fun..
